Someone has quite possibly already suggested this, but I’d love for the bricks from Old Trafford to be laid as the walkway up to the new stadium.

There's lots of room for creativity here I think.

You could have statues, the dugouts, goalposts etc all lining the walkway to the stadium.

The old tunnel is the oldest part of the stadium so that should be kept somewhere also.

To me the dugouts are iconic so would be nice if they were kept as a spot to rest.

They could be incorporated into the plaza/fan zone areas maybe.

Parkside is going through the environmental impact phase and working out the cheapest way of getting hold of the whole site (mostly farmland I've read - but I don't know what the definition of mostly is)

It does more or less assume that the railway lines next to it can be upgraded to accommodate the extra freight traffic. They're waiting for that go button on the railway upgrade as well.

I doubt the actual physical build would take that a long time though. The land is already earmarked for it in the local plan. It certainly won't have any logistics issues during construction.

For the guy to be so blasé about removing the measly £40k pot for former players, I just don’t see these types of things even crossing his mind and I doubt he’s got a team around him who’ll even mention it.

He meant it could be constructed in 5 years, but I think that's from once planning permission is secured.

The stadium build will require another equity injection from INEOS or perhaps from another investor, maybe institutional money. The Glazers will be diluted when the cash injection comes in. The reason the Glazers gave up operational control was because they didn’t want to inject the capital required to run the club, much less build a new stadium. The reason they remained shareholders was that they didn’t get the valuation they wanted for the club. 69% of a 4.5b valuation is less than 49% of a 10b valuation…

As soon as SJR has 50.1% of the club, the Glazers are powerless and basically become limited partners.

Absolutely SJR had plans for a new stadium as part of his pitch and he has the finances / cash lined up to build the stadium and gain control of the club.

I think the statues just lined down the centre of the plaza will be as far as mementos go. Maybe a new statue to go along with them, a 90’s trio or similar statue.

I think it'd be cool. Otherwise it will be pretty generic.
If he wants to attract people to the fanzone on non-match days, then being able to sit in the dugouts would be a nice attraction.

I was thinking a "Class of '92" statue would be appropriate considering the amount of appearances and trophies and goals they contributed.

Or else Rooney or Cantona.

The club have said they hope to be moved in by the start of 2030/31 season. But I imagine there's a lot of hurdles to clear first and we have to bear in mind very few construciton projects ever finish on time. Mostly because in my experience the people deciding deadlines and time frames are not the same people having to actually do the work.

The Athletic podcast reckons that part of the funding will come from Sir Jim raising his stake and becoming. Majority shareholder in the club..I mean he's already acting like it.

As for the rest of the financing, they explained that United have lot of land around the Trafford area. Profits on new builds are about 63k currently. So if all the 17k are built by United themselves on their land, that's paying back over a billion on financing alone.

They won't worry about the grass growing. Pretty much as soon as OT's empty the grow lights roll out onto the pitch. The current OT stands are tall enough to mean there's too much shade to rely on sunlight.

They're targeting opening it in 2030. Reality wise who knows between getting to go ahead and inevitable delays.

Why would we share with City? The stadium is being built next to OT. We will be able to play at OT until the new stadium is ready.

I'm aware of the UV lights at OT. But I'd imagine the new design would allow more natural sunlight into the stadium that Old Traffords roof design.
