Darts

That’s a troubling loss for Humphries. Looked great in the SF and then came up against an average Littler and produced nothing.

Easy to say right now, would've looked rather odd after the semi, but I do think Humphries these days is a couple of levels lower than his peak.

Happens to everyone. It will happen to Littler. They always bounce back though when good enough.

It seems a bit odd to me that Price and MVG both have 7 wins, Price has won 2 nights to MVG’s 0 and yet MVG is a point ahead.

Would it make more sense to be equal points for every win (as opposed to one less for winning a SF) or maybe even an extra one for winning the event - so 2, 4 and 7 points for a QF, SF or final win respectively?

More point the further you get, I can accept that.
Price has been beaten in the first match a few time now, I think MVG has got to most semi-finals

Good for the sport in general but it'll really feck up the rankings. Matchplay winner "only" getting £225k is shit too and not much improvement at the early stages for players champs.
WInning the world's pretty secures world number 1 as it is (barring this year, as Hump was so far ahead and LL was in his first season), so £1m prize will make that worse.

Also didn't realise they're expanding GSOD to 48 players either. So that's worlds and gsod, with masters already enlarged. It sucks- bigger doesn't always mean better you greedy fecks, there'll just be way more dull matches.

There will just be less televised rounds at the bigger tournaments. They're stuck in a difficult place where the volume of players coming up with decent standard just aren't getting the opportunities to earn.

GSOD will be 3 man ( or woman) groups now.

Sky will televise them all and we'll watch it, just as we'll end up watching Burkina Faso play Moldova in the expanded world cup. The easiest way to help the majority earn more would be to expand the tours and televise more of the events. They've got a great short format and you get a huge variety of winners as a result.

I don't think GSOD needed overhauling. Last year was great, especially the mental group with Nijman averaging c110 and losing all three games. Way less intrigue in a three person group.

Shite it’s after starting early tonight

Humphries a bit suspect under pressure over the last few weeks. If someone comes back at him they’ve got a good chance of him starting to miss some doubles. Needs to tighten his game up for the rest of season.
