Mason Greenwood, Marseille Footballer | Read the thread rules in the OP before posting

Not a chance. If he became a bit better, Marseille would sell instantly for 50/55M, make a profit and forget he ever existed. Ligue 1 clubs need money fast and i don't see Greenwood's value jumping from 30M to 100M playing in France.
If, as reported, we have a 50% sell clause on total price then it means Marseille don't make any profit unless they sell for over £60m

It's possible the reports are wrong though and it's 50% of any profit rather than total

Very random as I haven’t watched a minute of him since he last kicked a ball for us, but what position is he playing for Marseille?

Right sided forward. I can’t say I’ve watched him but looking at the line ups on Flashscore it looks like they play a mix of 3421 (like us), or 3412.

I do yeah. Absolutely not meaning to equate Coman (whom I would gladly take at United) or Hernandez to Greenwood, just saying Bayern didn't exactly display a zero tolerance policy towards the issue in the past.
True, but cases like Greenwood or Boateng are simply way too severe for the club touching them. Coman and Hernandez are obviously guilty, but I am not even sure it is known what exactly happened. It seems very minor in contrast. And Hernandez and his fiancée ignoring their mutual restraining orders to get married instead is somewhat funny since I don’t believe it is Stockholm syndrome on her part.

Yes, I believe its the latter. If they sell him for 55m, they make a profit of 30m and have to share 50% of that with us.

You would think after getting a second chance like he has that he would do everything in his power (training and performance wise) to not mess it up again. It's already clear he's not a sensible guy (Understatement of the century perhaps) but even so this seems especially stupid. With his reputation he's not exactly going to have his pick of clubs if Marseille decide to get rid.

CR7 pretty much said this with him indirectly in his interview. I suppose he’s so talented he believes he doesn’t have to work. But his inability to do so will keep him at Marseille’s level instead of PSG.

It’s up to him, he’s lucky to have a second chance and now it looks like he’s forgotten to advantage he’s been re given.

The forward has reportedly attracted interest from clubs including Liverpool and Barcelona, meaning he may not lack for offers if he does leave Marseille in the summer.

Sure, yeah.

He's no doubt been a prime target for both Liverpool and Barca for quite some time now given his excellent PR potential - and being out of shape will only make 'em more eager to sign him.

We're looking at a proper payday here (on whatever we stand to make from the transfer).

They would accept it if it means the chance to shite on us even more.
No they wouldn't, no English club except one whose fans are utterly desperate and who would be getting him at a cut price would accept signing him. I don't think he'd go back to England either, he probably hears way less about what he's done in France than he would back home.

Well, he's now on 15 league goals. After scoring 5 in 3, he's scored 10 in 24. He also scored 1 in 2 in the French cup (against Saint-Étienne, who are 17th (of 18) in the league). Still decent numbers, but for now far from the 9,000 goals and the total obliteration of Ligue 1 which were predicted by some of his fans. In addition, Marseille has lost their last 3 and are now 3rd, and were knocked out in the second round of the cup they played.

Has a chance to finish top goalscorer in as you’d think PSG might rotate Dembele a bit with the CL.

Interesting to see where he ends up. Arsenal need a striker and have had no issues playing a certain individual all season.

I doubt he's coming back to England

I hope he gets a bigger move as we need the money, but I think most likely he just stays at Marseille sadly

It's like the money you dont expect to get. 20 mil would be a nice boost for our transfer budget.

We get 50% of the profit. They’d need to sell for an unlikely amount forces to get anywhere near 20m

About £66m (£26m they paid and then £40m divided in two)? I agree that they wouldn’t get that currently. It might be different though if he added another season with improved productivity and good performances in the Champions League. I don’t see it’s likely that he will move this summer anyway - it’s next summer I think there’s more chance of that happening.

Definitely not this summer for that price. He hasn’t done enough to show he’s in that price range.

We bought Rasmus for 70+ after a lot less right? I don’t think it’s too far away from what someone might be willing to pay. He’s a goal scorer and there aren’t that many around.

We’d pay it if he wasn’t who he is.

Hes the second top scorer in the league. I think he probably has to he honest. Only thing holding him back is the obvious
