I don't know but checked the ruling. Sit out after 3 yellows but quoting the rules as per:
https://documents.uefa.com/r/Regula...024/25/Article-63-Yellow-and-red-cards-Online

"Exceptionally, all yellow cards and pending yellow-card suspensions expire on completion of the play-offs. They are not carried forward to the league phase. In addition, all yellow cards expire on completion of the quarter-finals. They are not carried forward to the semi-finals."

If I'm not mistaken, this means nobody can be banned for the final as the most yellows collectable before the final would be two.

Their red-carded defender is automatically suspended for the return leg.

Yeah, some people have already been setting it straight here. It's definitely a positive rule change. We picked up some unnecessary yellows tonight.

We're a much better team than when we played them back in February. We only lost 1-0 away. We've actually got decent experience at winning cup finals and Tottenham haven't won a cup in 25 years. The pressure will be on them to win it, they're struggling for form and are struggling with key players having fitness issues.

Honestly, I'm confident we can beat Tottenham.

We're a bit better, I think much is really pushing it given our league position. Our biggest problem is that we can't score, and this Spurs team are likely to score early against us, they've done it 3 times already this season, and that will ramp up the pressure massively. The pressure is more on us than them too, just given the stature of the club - nobody will bat an eye at Spurs failing to win a trophy!

Having Amad back gives me some confidence, I think he'll be absolutely key if we're to beat them, and I think Dorgu's physical attributes will help too, but I'd still much rather they get beaten by Bodø/Glimt next week!

Reading a lot on twitter that Scholes was extremely negative still after the game. I wasn’t able to watch the post match analysis, what did he say?

Said Bilbao should have been two up but were unlucky, and that United could still throw it away etc. Came across as quite miserable, to be honest.

He seemed pretty reasonable in the bits I saw. Said 3-0 was a good result and the tie was done and dusted.

What a weird game. Some really great performances across the pitch... and yet I don't think we were that good? We obviously were very good in the last 15/20 minutes of the first half... and we did well to control the game in the second... but I also thought we were incredibly sloppy at times, and made some odd decisions on the ball. Lots of loose passes too.

But who gives a shit, we just won 3-0 away in Bilbao! Get the feck in.

Also I know have an irriational hatred for Vivian. What a knob.
I really liked our one touch passing and movement / passing in tight spaces. I actually think we are starting to to understand patterns of play better in this system. The sloppy passes in the defensive 3rd are problem, but we’ve known for awhile that this group of players have been pretty poor playing out of the back. Lindelof, Casemiro at times, Dalot, Maguire and Onana. We’ve had problems breaking the high press for ages. McFred (mostly Fred tbh) Pogba. Matic and Carrick and possibly Herrera were the only CMs that had any kind of ball security, and that was in the days where only a couple of teams were pressing high.

That is one disease that will only solved with a competent hold up play striker and a better deep lying playmaker.

Should have went for that 4th. Didn't even attempt.
Mazraoui hit the crossbar and Casimero the post at 3-0. 2nd half 9 shots on goal with 4 on target.

I'm pleased a clean sheet was kept, ten man team has scored against United before as seen with Lyon with 2 in the last round.

They created a great atmosphere. I hope our fans do the same next week.

It is objectively funny, however, seeing Spanish football fans up in arms about objectively correct refereeing decisions not going their way, in light of all the things they normally get away with in Europe.
The ref was great. Their reactions just added to the theatre for me.

I'm praying the artificial pitch bamboozles them next week and they collapse.
If there's a team capable of throwing it away, it would be Spurs to be fair. The safe money is on Spurs but I don't think it's that unlikely we see an epic bottlejob.

He always does. I honestly think he, and to a lesser extent Neville, enjoy seeing the club struggling. As it reinforces how good they were.

Agree with the points. Our defenders don’t play progressive passes and got caught on it.

Also gotta remember it’s an away game where the atmosphere was really vocal, some of the players must have felt it. Quite few mistakes in the beginning but handled, the most worrying thing for me is the header where 3 defenders were stood still.

Lindelöf had a shaky start but I felt he grew into the game and was solid for most parts, and had the crucial block to keep us level
The shot hit him. It was not a block, ffs! He shouldn't start any important games for us. Good that now Delight and Shaw are back.

Had to work during the match, so I ignored any notifications and just now got to watch the replay.

Holy shit at Harry Maguire looking like a prime 1990s winger.

That little flick by Ugarte (i think) to put Bruno through for goal #3 was really nice too

Maguire dribble and cross look like prime Luis Figo.

Ander Herrera to come out and say how tough Bilbao was under Biesla in 3... 2...

Not really sure how Bilbao can claim injustice. I do think a red card is harsh in those instances (the penalty is punishment enough) but it’s the law. Also I really don’t think that hit Garnacho’s hand in the build up. Looked like it hit his chest.

The red card for Lyon was way harsher.

Maz back to RCB maybe? Though I think Maguire and Yoro are locked in, and I expect De Ligt will be in contention. Perhaps Amad and Garnacho behind Hojlund, Bruno in CM.
That would mean Ugarte or Casemiro being dropped which would be madness IMO

If the CB's are fit then DeLigt, Maguire and Yoro will start, Maz and Dorgu as the WB's is how I see it

Just watched the match...bonkers how it turned out.....half way to the final, that was never a red, very harsh imo. Great stadium, great crowd, boy do they love flipping the bird. I am still a bit nervy for the second leg. Never know with this lot, although I never really felt threatened by them when they had 11 so will be interesting to see what happens next Thursday. Should be a stroll to the final.

Username check out, that red was spot on, once it's deemed a foul the ref has to give a red for denying a goalscoring opportunity in the box when not making any attempt to play the ball

   Mate, we all would of been screaming bloody murder if the roles were reversed.

If he doesn’t pull him back Hojland taps it in easily. I don’t really understand the complaints. Easy red card and penalty!

Athletic barely escaped with their lives. We could have had 5 or 6 goals with just a fraction better luck.

Ref got the big call right. I think the trip on Garnacho should have also been a penalty, but the ref is only human. He let a lot of dirty play and then blatant diving go , and it makes me hate Spanish/Basque football even more than I already did.

Magic Maguire’s mazy run is the best thing I’ve seen us do in donkeys ears. Happy he’s going to end his United career on a high note and with a trophy.

Return leg should prove interesting. They have to come flying out of the traps.

What a result! Two good games and an appalling season can end with CL which would be mental.

I’m not feeling confident of Spurs in the final though. Don’t recall results but it feels like their energy and physicality had been too much for us under Ange.

While I share your scorn for Spanish teams, Atheltic and their fans are generally very likeable compared to most.

I reserve my disdain for the Sevillas, Villareals and Sociedads of this world. We recently battered Sociedad and we owe the other two jammy cnuts a good beating in the future.
Fair enough - most of my disdain for Spanish teams is due to the three you've mentioned, plus Barcelona for the 2 UCL final losses (and their slimy little cheat of a manager) and to a lesser extent, Madrid for their tapping up of Ronaldo (though I've largely forgiven them due to the amount of times they've stopped Liverpool and Abu Dhabi from winning the CL).

That being said - I still stand by my 'take that you Spanish twats'. :)

One of the great European nights. How many expected us to come away from there 3-0 up? I didn't. I just hope we don't get complacent at home and let them get a goal.

I was worried for nothing, I remember they played us off the park previously and we usually struggle against Spanish sides, but this game, even without the pen and the red card, we would have won it looking at how well we started and the chances we created, we also neutralized the Williams brothers.

Some people wouldn’t stop raving about a guy called Nico Williams before the match that he will single handedly bring us doom, like he was second coming of Yamal. Was he even playing?
