In a weird way I'm kinda glad Spurs have beaten us 3 times already this season because I believe in the law of averages. If you play a team enough times in a season, eventually you'll get at least one win!

We were against the odds in FA Cup last year and didn't win against City for how many games? But still won. This is the European Final; previous matches do not matter.

That's his point. How often do you see a club beat somebody 4 times in 1 season? Even if one club is vastly superior to the other, eventually they'll have a little flukey result here or there. And we are (in my opinion) definitely a better side than Spurs and capable of playing to a higher level, along with having better vibes going into the match (Ange on the way out, Amorim on the up), and then the "football heritage" which absolutely does matter of United in a final vs Spurs in a final.

My biggest fear is Kulusevski. That guy has been a feckin thorn every game we have played with him in it.

They have more key players missing otherwise, so if we bring some of the magic moments that we've shown the past two rounds, then we can do this.

Amad to start.
Mountinho to come off the bench.

I want to start with players who can push Spurs back, and then we can bring on Mount when it’s time to pack the middle or the field.

Bayindir

Lindelof
Maguire
Fredricson

Mazraoui
Eriksen
Mainoo
Amass

Mount
Mantato

Hojlund

I am still confident this team would beat spurs. It's spurs.

We have players that know how to win finals. Spurs have only a handful of players that have even played in a final.

You couldn’t ask for a better opponent under more pressure than Spurs in a European final. No players to fear either bar a very good Kulu.

If we turn up, we win this.

I see many posts with Casemiro and Bruno in midfield. I would like to pick that too, but would we get over run in the middle? Casemiro has been awesome, but does it help with Ugarte's legs around him? I admit, I am not good the tactical side of things....

thats the dilemma and I think Amorim alluded to it in the post match. It depends whether we think Ugarte and Casemiro would do a better job defensively or do we start off on the attack?

I think it’s clear that the formation does look more dynamic when Bruno drops into midfield because we can get another 10 on the pitch. I think he’ll be cautious and go with Ugarte though. Might be too risky otherwise.

I quite like swapping it up later in the game. There's so many team trying to blitz you in the first 20 mins with an ultra heavy press it just feels sensible to try and soak up some pressure and let them punch themselves out a bit. I feel like we end matches quite strong and often with more energy. Our throw the kitchen sink at teams for the last 15 mins strategy just seems hard to deal with.
But then maybe Bruno helps us play through the press and is actually the safer choice so its still a bit of a dilemma.

We struggle against premier league teams. This is going to be like a premier league game. I’m not confident but I have hope! Let’s go United!
European refereeing changes things. It depends on the referee of course and how he approaches the game but i expect it'll have an impact.

When two PL teams meet in european finals it generally feels different, I expect this to be the same and that should benefit us. Neutral ground abroad, night game, foreign ref. We really have to make our experience count.

You know how the Inter - Barca games were some of the greatest we've seen in recent times.

This is going to be the complete opposite.

Common lads! Hope we beat them when it really matters considering we’ve lost to them 3 times. Hoping we can break the ange 2nd season trophy run too

Surely we can’t lose a final to fecking Spurs

The thought of them breaking their trophy drought against us when we so desperately need the associated rewards that come with winning (Money and CL) is too much to imagine for this timeline

Ridiculously important game for the (near)future of the club and the manager. We really struggle against physicality of PL teams. Have no idea what to expect.

You know it's just written in the stars that liverpool beat our league record AND Spurs break the trophy drought against us.

Right now I am feeling very confident about this. Which is scary in itself.

I feel Spurs aren't anything special and we are due a win against them. Our team has the experience with Bruno and Case plus with Amad back our attack looks so much better. Despite of our struggles in the PL, we are a different unit in Europa and should be able to cope with them. Plus, we already played in Bilbao in the game before last, that should give us some sort of advantage.

I am going with a 3-1 win for us.

And....Lad's, it Spurs. Can't fecking wait for the game. The two PL games in the middle are a distraction. Hope we used them as practice games and there are no injuries.

Don’t think we struggle because of referees. We struggle because most premier league teams are just more athletic and physical than us and we cannot cope with that. And they play a faster game which does not suit us. It’s why Amorim has said that the slower European game suits our team better and hence why we do better in Europa than in the premier league

Onana
Mazraoui Maguire Yoro
Dorgu Casemiro Bruno Shaw
Amad Mount
Hojlund

Hard to see beyond the balance of this to be honest. De Ligt with the injury, don't think he'll get himself in form ahead of Maguire. Bit hard on Garnacho but it's him or Amad as we need one off the bench, so has to be Amad I think. Mounts energy will make up for leaving Ugarte out, but think we need Bruno in deeper just for that added control and creativity.
I have little faith in Shaw at the moment. He seems cooked ever since returning from injury and Dorgu just does not seem to be ready.

I'd start Amass..and bring on Dorgu as sub.

I am trying to remember the last time the difference between winning and losing for 2 teams in one game was this huge.

Coming into this, we will have recently been to this ground and won well - I think that stands us in quite good stead.

Our euro travelling support will monster Spurs in terms of getting behind the team imo, they know what to do...
We're fully behind Amorim in the main, they mostly want Ange out and he's been at loggerheads with them...

These things should help.

I can understand why so many are putting Shaw into their line-ups, I mean, Dorgu's short passing, esp. first half in most games, have been awful (esp. when playing with Garnacho, can't seem to pass to each other to save themselves!).

But, come on, Shaw seem gassed after 30 minutes after being brought on at the end of the match. If he starts against a physically imposing and pacy team, I wonder if he'd even last 20 minutes! (as LWB or LB)

My wife's family are all spurs fans, and I'm off on holiday with them a few days after this. It's either going to be glorious or an absolute nightmare.

We need to play fighters for the first 50-60 minutes. I would start both Case and Ugarte and keep Bruno to 10.

Too bad De Ligt is not fit because we need his fight and leadership. The defense pretty much picks itself - the only question is starting Shaw instead of Dorgu or over Lindelof but Shaw doesn't look like he is back to 100% yet.

The other 10, I would start Amad over Garna but not sure if Amorim will be prepared to bench Garna given he is starting every game.

Id not start Dorgu or Hojlund.

Dorgu was utterly dreadful for a good hour tonight. I'm not sure there's much of a player there tbh.

Premier league teams are more physical because premier league referee's let them be. Maybe its the competition, premier league referee's adjust their calls in europe too.
Its worked against us at times in the past but will probably work to our advantage this time.

They don't know how to defend and will attack. We should be a bit conservative in first third of the game and try to punch them on the counter. And evolve after. It will all depend on how fit is Amad if he can play the whole game. Get extra attention to Kulusevski - Ugarte to help.

I would start:
Onana
Amad Maz Maguire Yoro Dorgu
Casemiro Ugarte
Bruno Garnacho
Hojlund

In this way we have at least two speedy players on the field in Amad and Garnacho, a bit more control in midfield, and Mazraui in his best position. And we can always mix it up in second half. Bring on Mount, Shaw for the latter stages of the game. Push Amad further up the pitch if needed etc.

Law of averages favors United - we lost three times to them this season
European final occasion favors United
"It's Spurs" favors United
We have more players with final experience

But it's do or die game - both teams will be up for it. I don't believe they will want it more.

But I am still very nervous. What are the fecking odds of Harry Kane AND Spurs breaking decades of trophy curse in the same season? :wenger:

We believe in history, prestige. Come on boys let's bring this trophy home. In a year or two nobody will remember this years league finish.

So much riding on this game, let's hope we turn up!

Hoping for an epic performance from our captain. Robbo vs Barça, Keano vs Juve ... and Bruno vs Spurs?

To think we even qualified for the EL through winning the FA cup and now we're in the final! Clearly, league position is overrated :D

Amass isnt going to start a European final, he’s had barely a handful of appearances for the first team. Shaw was fine last night.

Loved Ange's comments regarding everyone coming out of the woodwork and questioning how can either of the two teams be allowed in the CL next season. We beat the 4th placed team in La LaLiga 7-1 on aggregate in the semis and beat Lyon in the quarters who are only 5 points behind the 2nd placed team in their league. Spurs beat the third placed team in the Bundesliga in the quarters. But somehow those teams are more deserving to play in the Champions league next season than us?

Wenger has always been a fecking dick. As Jose said, "A specialist in failure".
