The 'How you getting to Bilbao' thread

Metro running until 3am if that helps anyone out hotel wise. Look at the end of the lines.

if you are looking for rooms keep checking booking.com as cancellations keep popping up. there is a bed in a hostel for £189 on there atm in city centre.
there was a bed for £38 yesterday in Portugalete (near end of the metro line) yesterday so they are popping up.

Flights from Stansted’s to Vitoria and back are under £400 on Ryanair website (not app)

Direct flights on day of game and back next day.

I can’t be bothered starting another thread but I’ve not got tickets to the final so I’m wondering if there’s been any talk of a fan zone or anything like that around Manchester? Or have the club even suggested anything?
Albert Hall & MEN are doing viewings if that's what you're after?

Neither would be my cup of tea if I wasn't going but each to their own, don't think the club is doing anything.

Cheers. I’m just weighing up options really, I don’t like watching the games at the pub as I like to concentrate on the game and half of the time you don’t get a decent view of it anyway. So it’d be something like this or at home. I’m just worried that these would be a bit…gimmicky, if that’s the right word. If there was going to be somewhere with a good atmosphere then I might have considered it.

Out of interest, what would you do if you weren’t going?

Its not currently getting to Bilbao that I am worried about. I have paid onto a sports tour operators private charter day trip. Not cheap, but it is what it is, as I only got a ticket after missing out on the original ballot.

Whats worrying me is getting back to the airport after the game. Currently the Spanish authorities have not confirmed the slots to all the various airlines. From Manchester, this charter can be placed at Bilbao, Santander or Vitoria. Because I don't know what airport I'm going back from I cant organise any travel options afterwards, but can see that all the normal buses are booked up anyway. All I can hope is that the Spanish Authorities lay on a load of busses back the the various airports and send them as they fill up.

If its anything like Rome in 09, once you get back to the airport they just funnel you onto the next plane going to Manchester and send it when its full up.

Apparently all slots should be confirmed to the airlines by the end of today, and the information should start filtering through......fingers crossed.

Bowlers are also putting on a fan park.

I would probably do that if I wasn't going, but that's more because its the closest to me more than anything.

Really think the club should have put something on. They could have opened the Stretford End and stuck a massive screen on the pitch. There's a capacity of 23,500 which they could have comfortably charged £20 a ticket for to cover the minimal policing etc needed (surely not much more than the events being held at the MEN). Opened the concourse at half time etc and even relaxed the rules about taking beer to seats as there isn't an official game going on.

Would have been mint.

I'd just watch at home probably and have a couple of mates round or go to one of theirs. Similar to you I don't like watching in pubs, for any game to be honest, let alone a big game like a final when the beer throwers come out in force.

Those who got tickets through the club rather then UEFA, where are you sat? Trying to figure out which end is United and which end is Spurs.

Stadium plan on the ticket thread mate - clear on that.

306 so same for me on the other side. But it's the neutral end not Spurs (for you also)

Aye, I know I'm neutral but just now wondering where neutral ends and spurs begins

That would have been great and something for those who didn’t get tickets. Feels like the club misses a trick by not doing things like this, they could have something amazing inside or outside the ground.

I f3cked up and did pre book parking in one of the city car parks when I had a chance.

How is parking in Bilbao? Not looking to be 5 mins from the stadium - happy to take a good 15 / 20 min walk or even metro.
