Bruno Fernandes Out? | Staying at Man United

Why do people think he is staying?

The wording of that article suggests that he want's to leave but just not to Saudi Arabia.

It means we won't be getting a massive transfer fee for him.
The club wouldn’t stand in his way of a £100m and £700k a week Saudi move. They’ll definitely negotiate much harder if he wants to move somewhere else in Europe and not accept any lowball offers.

That’s assuming anyone in Europe will even come close to offering what we want.

With 3 at the back, and if you genuinely want your wingbacks to actually push up the pitch you can't afford to have a midfielder in your team as reckless as Bruno is on the ball unfortunately.
I know what you mean, but we have seen a "measured" Bruno, who keeps it ticking and spreads it wide, he can do it, if the team is cohesive and quality upfront means they can make things happen instead of depending on Bruno's Magic.

Don't like this at all. Perfect chance to have a full rebuild but now we keep the most fundamental piece of the old squad, only now will be as a full time central midfielder.

Bruno has always been at his best when we need his heroics but this being the summer we finally sort out the attack, we no longer need his all action stat filling type of play.

I'm hoping he's just ruled out Saudi but still wants a move. If we sort our front three out we would be better served with actual CMs.

Only we can get a golden opportunity like this and blow it, he should have been actively pushed out.

Can’t wait to see him in a midfield 2 next season giving the ball away every second pass.

Think this will put an end to us signing a midfielder this window. Gyökeres and a keeper to go with Cunha and Mbeumo would do nicely.

Next summer we can sign a partner for Heaven and Yoro, in addition to sorting out the midfield.

Haven’t felt as bad waking up to breaking news like this since Princess Di.

Which European club is paying big money for Bruno?

We will struggle to even get £80m for him now!

We've managed to sell him a project he's turned down MILLIONS for.

I would say Gyökeres might actually be nailed on now.

Thank you Bruno! Love all players who stay way from Saudi and choose football over money.

For me - his status just risen even higher!

Not the end of the world. I think the amount of money we would have have made it the right time to sell, but he's our best player and it's going to be exciting to see him playing with the new signings.

Also, clubs will still be interested in him in the next couple of summers, there will be more opportunities to sell, I just don't think we will get close to that money ever again.

I guess there’s nothing we can do about that anyway.

For that kind of money u thought we’d be better off selling him but the player doesn’t want a move.

Excellent. Really hope we build a decent team around Bruno to give him the opportunity he needs to show how elite he truly is.

Which means another season of him not having a position in this team and less money to spend. This might stop the Mbeumo deal going through.
Reports have said that Mbeumo deal is not contingent on Fernandes leaving.

Delighted with this news. Thought he had his best season ever on a personal level last season. I really like him in CM.

I like Bruno but he's also not the future if we take a 3-4 year view, given his age. Not clear how he fits in Amorim's system if we buy 2 new 10s and he is not a CM. So I dont see it at all surprising people saw this as an opportunity to raise some funds and address the CM position.

You can be disappointed we're not getting a huge fee for a 30 year old but also delighted that our Captain and best player has decided he wants to stay because he seems genuinely happy at United. Despite the fact he's a much better player than the stage we are currently offering him. Yet some seem gutted, it's weird.

They're just the same bunch who moaned about him constantly last season. He kept them quiet for most of the season but it doesn't take much for them to be triggered back into action.

No doubt, and a lot of them will be the first to moan when a player is disloyal.

He wants to stay at top level in Europe...meaning he'd be looking to move to one of the top CL clubs for half the money?

Seems like.

I think if a top club comes in, he will tell the club he wants out and the club will grant him his wish.

Does every scenario need to be spelt out?

He’s staying at Man Utd.

He wants to play at the top level in Europe…. So the Premier League in England.

It’s written like that because he was linked with a move to Saudi away from Europe and any chance of European competitions.

We are in the market for a midfielder. There’s been reports we want an 8.

The idea of pushing out our captain, best player for many years, the one player you can honestly say has given his all for the club is abhorrent.

It would have been nice to get a big old injection of cash, while solving a bit of a squad issue in where to fit Bruno, but I'd never support pushing Bruno out of all people.

If Mbuemo comes in, which I hope he does, Amorim will need to work with him to adapt to a deeper role (which he has played very well in at times, less so others) and pair him up with a real mobile, defensively solid player.

I do understand the fans that want to sell him but for me the reality is he’s never played in a functioning team with quality players around him. There’s always been problems on and off the field. I’m actually ok with him in the 8 but he needs a real quality player next to him. Don’t forget in a properly working Amorim team, the 8 is quite high forward and pressing, creating chances. The middle CB comes in to the double pivot. In that regard Bruno is perfect but we just couldn’t play like that last year

I’d also add that ditching our Captain, best player and best servant for the club post SAF is not a great idea. £100m is less than you think and there’s no guarantee it won’t just go to something else

You can question the economics of this all, but how can you not be happy to see this kind of commitment from your captain? Turning down this kind of money to play for us

If he’s staying and therefore now going to be a CM (since Cunha and likely Mbeumo are going to be the two No.10s) then I’m hopeful we get an athletic, workhorse CM to partner him, as I’m not sold on Bruno being a CM for an entire season. Maybe it could work since in that 3-4-3 of Amorim’s, one of the CBs steps forward into a CM role.

The Anti Bruno crowd are weird. We barely scored any goals last season and yet they want to take away our top scorer and main creative force?

Either SJR had fount some money under his sofa or spending more money with be a struggle at this point

No midfielder this summer will likely prove significantly detrimental.

Please just stop posting your utter tripe. 5 posts a day of it is still too much.

When we pull a Leicester style Premier League win next season, seeing Bruno lift the trophy will be beautiful.

Delighted he is staying

We need some pace and power next to him if he's playing CM. Love his commitment and glad he's staying.

I thought he put in a midfield performance against Liverpool as good as I have seen. He can be really good there.
