lets get real he's a gooner (goner)..its just a matter of when
Could have swore Carrick had at lest 2 years remaining since he had only been at the club for 2 years. Surely they signed him to at least a 4 year contract in 2004.One difference here Chiefy is that Berbatov has much longer left on his contract than did Carrick. Another is that Berbatov is in much wider demand: there would be several big clubs interested if Spurs agreed to sell: a bidding war.
It's all hypothetical anyway, but an interesting discussion.
No, probably not, but I don't rule it out completely.... do you expect Berbatov to stll be at Spurs this time next year?
So it begins?
This Berbatov stuff has been going on for the last 15 months at least, with hundreds of posters on this forum saying it would happen last January, then last summer became the latest sure-fire thing, and now more of the same.
I wouldn't bet your house on it if I were you.
strange...strange strange things to say.DA2 despite being shorter than Henry, Rooney is far more prolific in the air, also I dont think I have seen Henry score a goal like this
Everybody and their dog knows he's off. its a matter of when. I dont see him leaving england and if and when chelsea get anelka its between us and liverpool. could be a contest in the summer..im sure we dont want to take him in january but may have to move early to make sure. Maybe delayed payments or whateverWell I have to say thats an awful lot of chat, rumour and speculation for someone so deliriously happy at a club....
25 down to 18 million for Carrick would equate to 35 down to 28 for Berbatov.... if we pay 28 million or anywhere near it for him the world has gone fecking mad.... he's 27 for feck sake!I remember y'all initially quoted about 25 million for Carrick..what a climb down...expect it again
This season, free header in the box from a Simpson cross, a good header it was, dont remember the team thoughWhen did he score headers this season? I can't remember.
I remember the one against Arsenal last season but thats the only one I can think of, he got one for Everton as well that I know of.
You may be right in the second part. I didn't expect anything to happen this window, but then I ddn't expect his agent to say he wants to go again at this time. No, probably not, but I don't rule it out completely.
I do expect him to still be at Spurs on Feb. 1st tho'.
one of his biggest assets is the way he uses his body to stop other players getting anywhere near the ball. Add that to the touch and you've got possibly the best hold up player in the world.Probably been posted before, but some of you might not have seen it yet;
Berbatov's all 4 goals vs Reading:
I'd like to see him score such goals for us.
Wigan and Fulham come to mind. I'm sure it was one of them. Probablly Fulham. This season, free header in the box from a Simpson cross, a good header it was, dont remember the team though

I can't remember exactly. But Berbatov can be contractually kept at Spurs until the summer of 2011 if the club wants to, so there's much longer left than with Carrick in any event.Could have swore Carrick had at lest 2 years remaining since he had only been at the club for 2 years. ...
OK, but isn't that an argument for pushing up Berbatov's price if made available?... Not to mention that top rated strikers usually cost more than top rate midfielders. Carrick cost 14.1m with potential add-ons up to 4.5m. ...
No, not remotely. I'm afraid his injury problems and relative lack of impact have damaged his saleability far too much.... BTW, do you think Spurs would ask/take Saha in return?
Had a look over the past few pages and don't think this has been posted... anyway according to Setanta Ramos has said in his own words that Berbatov does have a price...
***
Tottenham manager Juande Ramos has reiterated his intention to keep Dimitar Berbatov at White Hart Lane, but he admits every player has a price.
Berbatov’s agent has spoken of the Bulgarian’s desire to play for a club that matches his ambition, with potential suitors Manchester United and Chelsea both fitting the bill.
Ramos has spent the majority of the Christmas period insisting he wants to keep his 11-goal striker, but the Spaniard shifted the goalposts slightly on Thursday.
Commenting on the proliferating stories surrounding Berbatov, Ramos told interested clubs he would let the striker go if the right offer was made.
“The transfer window has just opened so it is normal that these stories come out,” explained the former Sevilla coach.
“We want Berbatov to stay with us, he’s here with us at the moment.
“Unless somebody comes in with an offer that is too good to refuse, he will remain with us.”
Meanwhile, the calculated Spurs boss refused the opportunity to stick the knife in on Berbatov’s agent, accepting that he is only doing his job by trying to create a transfer.
“Agents do this, they will try to sell their players and make some money out of it.
“We’re calm about it and very happy to have him here.”

I know this is obvious but I just thought that it would be worth mentioning that Ramos is showing a little bit of light...
Um... 27. The best years of his career right in front of him.25 down to 18 million for Carrick would equate to 35 down to 28 for Berbatov.... if we pay 28 million or anywhere near it for him the world has gone fecking mad.... he's 27 for feck sake!
I think Berbatov will be rested. But I wouldn't read anything into that if so: he's played a lot of games recently and we have an unbelievably hectic schedule coming up, including a two-legged SF against Arsenal. If Berbatov doesn't play in the FA Cup this weekend, should we be suspicious?...
villa, just what we need. why not get defoe in as well to complete our umpa lumpa strikeforceWhats David Villa being touted at? Arent there strong rumors about him moving this Jan? If Berbatov is looking anywherer near 25-30million I'd like to know what Villa is priced at..
Huh? If Carrick signed a 5 year deal in 2004 that means he had 3 years remaining when United signed him. If Berbatov is signed through 2011, that would mean 3 years remaining. Not hard to figure out, ey?I can't remember exactly. But Berbatov can be contractually kept at Spurs until the summer of 2011 if the club wants to, so there's much longer left than with Carrick in any event.
He's 26 and won't turn 27 until Jan. 30th: far from being over-the-hill.... he's 27 for feck sake!
Fair point I suppose... and I didnt relaise Villa was 26... but as good as he is I dont think Berbatov is anywhere near Zidane, Figo etc.... and personally I like the team with Tevez and Rooney upfront... I'd love other options and I do think Berbatov would give us that but I dont think he's worth that sort of money.Um... 27. The best years of his career right in front of him.
Zidane, Figo, Nedved, etc all moved for big fees around that age,
Footballers dont retire at 28 unless they have really bad injuries.
standard thenWhat's for sure is that if we sign him, we will play a shitload of money and pay way over the top
Yeah. I think Reading played a weakened team last season in the FA Cup.I think Berbatov will be rested. But I wouldn't read anything into that if so: he's played a lot of games recently and we have an unbelievably hectic schedule coming up, including a two-legged SF against Arsenal.
It also seems as if Reading will be putting out a weakened team, since the league is their priority, so that would be another reason to rest Berbatov.
Carrick did not have 3 years left on his contract - it was 2 years at most (possibly less, I can't remember exactly).Huh? If Carrick signed a 5 year deal in 2004 that means he had 3 years remaining when United signed him. If Berbatov is signed through 2011, that would mean 3 years remaining. Not hard to figure out, ey?
If he moves in January then 3.5 yes, but you said he ain't moving so it's 3 years in the summer. Possibly one more year than Carrick had when he signed in 2004... but yet you don't know and you make this claim that Berbatov has many, many years remaining on his contract. According to this site he is signed through 2010, which would leave 2 years remaining this summer. http://www.footballtransfers.info/squads/club4.htmlCarrick did not have 3 years left on his contract - it was 2 years at most (possibly less, I can't remember exactly).
Berbatov has 3 and half years left on his: getting on for double the length of Carrick's. So no, it's not hard to figure.
Nice try but the Brown bit gives it away - Ramos needs another error prone CB like a hole in the head.A deal worth 30 million has been agreed for Berbatov (Thats cash plus Wes Brown)
