Good game in single player mode, but not amazing. Give me HL2 over this anytime. I suspect it's all about the multi player mode, though. Reckon it;d be amazing on LIVE with a few mates.

Like Halo 3, its almost exclusively a LIVE game and would actually not be a worth a purchase had it only been singleplayer.
And RedLambs and I think that this is a problem. Why even bother putting single player in there?
I still enjoyed the single player though. I would have felt cheated if it was just the multiplayer part as the game - unless it was cheaper or they concentrated more on the multiplayer or something.
Half-life was great and got it right when they made Counter-Strike as a separate add-on.

It would be too much of a risk and it probably wouldnt sell - not everyone has access to live.
And trust me around 3/4 of the people I know that own Call of Duty 4 are not connected to Xbox live or the PSN (thats those who own the console versions)
Besides I quite liked the Call of Duty 4 singleplayer eventhough it were abit short, Halo 3 singleplayer though was proper shite, had to force myself to drive it to the conclusion.
Well, this is the problem, they are charging people the same to play single player in what is basically a multi-player game.
So what are they meant to do? Sell two versions of the game - the campaign and multiplayer?
Yep. I'd say it's pretty average(and pointless) in single player mode. In fact, I don't see the point of them even bothering with it. I'll have to get on LIVE to get the most out of it, I feel.
No....the cost for playing multiplayer should be that you just pay for broadband.

I thought the single player was good. A little short, but then if you play it on its hardest mode you get quite a few hours gameplay from on it.
Its a fiver a month or £40 a year for a better online service so its not all bad. Mind you PSN is gradually catching up in quality and with thats on offer.
thats the thing....if i want to play online i simply want to click 'join a game' and then join it....i don't really care about stats or whatever else might be offered by LIVE, i've no use for it....thats why before i ever even knew about any of the online capabilities i was happy i got the ps3.
Allthough a lad from work never lets up wrecking my head with being a 360 fanboy....personally i couldn't give a feck i bought a ps3(60gb original years ago) and havn't had a problem or been unhappy with it since.

I don't play COD4 online on my ps3 anymore though, my mate went to Australia for a year so he gave me his PC version and have been playing it on that since and it wipes the floor with any console version

Its hard. The bits where you have to defend that injured sniper and escape that village lateron, the bit where you can call in air strikes, took me a fair few goes. Though I think if I had played it online before doing the single player campaign I probably would have found it a lot easier

Play it online you gimp. Its no exaggeration when people say it is 10 times better online, its up there with AoE2 as the greatest online games I have played

You wont be able to do much sniping on hard, most of my kills for that bit were done with salvaged AK47's on hard mode. Well its excellent online but quite frankly it isn't near as good as Counterstrike or team fortress classic was

Yeah it was different alright! I liked the level, just found avoiding the other guys hard when hiding
I didn't actually manage to kill that guy youre supposed to sniper from a million miles away, though to be fair I only tried twice. I did blow his arm of mind
You're only supposed to blow his arm off...hence when you tackle him at the end he's minus one arm....no matter how good a shot you make you only blow his arm off hehe
i've tried it numerous times and every time you hit it seems to blow his arm off!
Oh right, that would explain it. I just though tit was the game being clever. I have to admit I was a bit miffed as I thought I got my shot pretty much spot on
Hehe yeah i was a bit miffed too....i've taken that shot a fair few times and there was a couple were i could have sworn they should have left his head a bloody mess, especiaclly on PC aiming but yet again it blows his arm off....kinda makes sense though since he's the end guy

To be honest I don't really know what level heat is as I havent played the single player campaign in ages, but if you're only 6 from the end you must have done the sniper level as well I think. I imagin ethe sniper level is one shot, one kill.
