Elvis says he can't connect to the caf, and he's tried "resetting his modem and all that nonsense", reckons the Admins have sorted it out before. Wants to know what he can do.

Elvis has emailed me so I'm looking into it - may or may not be an issue on this end that can be fixed.

Anyone else having similar problems?

Weird that this is happening only with the caf. Have you run malware/spyware checks? There are trojans that can block access to certain sites, its happened to me before.

Failing that whenever I get a problem like this, and because I am not that great with computers, I cheat and just restore my computer to a date a day or so a go when it was working fine.

I switch system restore off as it can take up quite a bit of space:(

I'm awaiting a new USB pen so I can connect my PC to the internet so I'll just have to wait till then, most likely. And I don't have any viruses, do regular checks and don't go on any dodgy websites.

We playing FM tonight, by the way?

I've managed to log in through a proxy, but without I'm still unable to even browse the Caf. Which is strange, never had this problem before. Site runs very slowly though.

x4bn26: Did that and it says 12 30ms 30ms 30ms RedCafe.net : The Leading Manchester United Forum and then it shows my IP. Not a foggiest of what it means.
Well then, that's not the full story because that's not what tracert is supposed to do! It's supposed to show a trace of a connection from your IP to a target. If it gets stuck on a path it suggests there's a problem along the line, perhaps with your ISP. If it connects, it suggests it's something else.

Niall, just to let you know that I'm having to log in through a proxy and post that way, as I'm still unable to log in normally.

Busy weekend so I probably won't have time to call my ISP and be put on hold for 3 hours, so I'll give them a call Monday and get back to you.

I can't even get access to the site to log in Geebs, at the moment I'm posting through a proxy which is annoying because the site runs much slower.

The Error I get is this when I try to connect to the site:

I get the equivalent of that whichever browser I use, too. I'l give my ISP a call on Monday, see what they say.

Hmmm, strange things are happening.

I can now log in, but the site runs very slowly using FireFox, but I am using IE and it's running fine?

The internet is weird.

It must be your new username.

Maybe a change to original will help.

You can try it if you want, to be honest I think I preferred esmufc09.

The esmu days gave me many happy memories, the Elvis days have given me a gay avatar and troubles connecting to the Caf, and the death of a musical legend.

:(

You have changed since Jacko died, Elvis. More serious posts and less tomfoolery in the general.

I have this strange problem for a couple of day now.

When I click on a thread or a forum, half the time I get "Failed to Connect" and have to refresh a couple of times to get where I want.

This happens only with redcafe, tried safari and chrome but still no positive results. It's really annoying.

So this downtime since Thursday then. Which was the hosting company that Niall has been using?

And I think we need a better backup than that chatroom. God that was horrible.

Horrible timing aswell. I hadn't been looking at the Caf much because trawling through extra long Tevez/Ronaldo/Benzema etc threads doesn't interest me, then as soon as something actually happens the Caf died.

I have just logged in for the first time in days.

I've had error messages every time I've tried to log in. It stopped working on the 1st on 2nd of July I think.

Probably for the best. I think the Owen signing has grown on people over time. Initials reactions would have been a lot more negative.

I was literally in tears when redcafe wasn't working, it always seems to happen at the worst possible times as well. At least we didn't get the massive hype over the Owen signing.

The Caf has imploded after the signature of Owen :D but that chat room was a farce
