Lukas Podolski.

Do you know anything outside of the biggoted views of your few aquaintances? It would seem not. I live in Germany, know plenty of Poles, many of whom could pass as Germans and all of whom do not exhibit any of the hatred you speak of. People like you allow the bad shit to linger far longer than it should. Not everyone is so intolerant and hateful.

Thats right the world bears no grudges & we all live in a happy place & all is forgiven - wise up will ya, you're living in a bubble!

ffs to say that people dont have grievances from past history is very wide of the mark, and feck you for labelling me a bigot, intolerent & hateful you high-horsed prick

What's the story with this guy. He looked great for club and coutry before he went to Bayern where he flopped quite badly (though still performed well for Germany iirc) and has now gone back to Koln. How is he doing there? Every time i see him for Germany he plays well.

He's someone i've always wanted us to go for, even when he was poor at Bayern.

He's has a terrible season with Koln. He hasn't really gone forward since the 2006 World Cup. I'm still a big fan. He's a quality player.

he only shows up every two years, WC and Euros. ive given up on him becoming as good as i thought he was gonna be.

Seems to be a mentality/personality issue to me. Bayern was never going to be the club for him so early on, it's too much of a circus. He seems to need an environment where he feels comfortable.

Going back to Köln brought with it too many expectations. The papers in the area last summer were ridiculous in their building up of 'Prinz Poldi'.

Today's penalty miss notwithstanding, he seems to be okay with pressure, always performing quite well for the national team. I really think he could thrive at United, Sir Alex knows how to handle players and we have space on the left

He's a loser. After he missed his penalty, he tried many ridiculous shots whereas a simple would have been miles better (Marin gave him a mini hairdryer for it)

Ah, you can't fault the lad for trying to make up for something that can happen to anyone.

You can make it up by being more clever, not by being on shoot-on-sight policy. That was stupid from him I thought but it's Podolski, it doesn't surprise me

Got massively screwed over by Bayern and then had an injury that further put him behind. Went back to his "home" with his tail between his legs and is now trying to find himself again.

Quality player.

He's fantastic at kicking the ball hard.

It's finding the net that he often has problems with.

Shit peno. Today the Germans missed ballack if he was there that's a gol

I think we should show some interest in him.. He wont cost that much and besides he is very versatile.. I think he would do well in England..

Podolski and Schweinsteiger are both excellent penalty takers and the Germans are legendarily good at penalties - haven't missed a penalty in the WC since 1974 before last night!

I'd hands down allow him to take the next German penalty kick...

That's in open play. They missed in the shootout vs France in '82. Uli Stielike.

Shows flashes of quality but really he just isn't that good is he?

Great left foot but he's not ever going to be a winger when he cant beat a man and doesnt have great pace.
I beg to differ.

First goal.

He's truly had an indifferent season at Köln; but, he has shown - at the World Cup in 2006 and two years ago in Austria/Switzerland -, that he has enough ability to play for a good club in Europe.

His popularity with Arsenal fans seems to be based more on this kind of shite than what he does on the pitch.

Well it's not like he's doing that bad is it ?

On top of that he's a good lad and didn't cost 42 mln quid like his fellow compatriotflop.

he doesnt have the quality to be more than a good squad player for a team, that wants to play CL. That said he is pretty efficient for Arsenal adding directness and results, that Arsenal is often missing. He is also a very positive and fun person (even so he isnt the smartest guy).

28 goals and 16 assists in 4000minutes for Arsenal arent bad at all for a squad player. 20mio€ and a solid wage were a good deal for him.

I thought it was about 12mio€, we were right ripped off if was 20.

I liked him because it seemed as though he had some hidden potential to be really good. I thought Wenger would help him find it but it increasingly looks like that won't happen.

I have to disagree with Pete here.

It all depends on what you expect from him. He's not going to provide you with great balance down the left, especially if Monreal is behind him, but there are few better in the league at changing a game. He scores goals. He crosses well too.

He's not the best player in the world but he's clearly useful.

What's he on though? I'm torn about him...he's one of those players who the fans love but is actually quite crap. A bit like Phil Jones.

Careful. I get tonnes of stick for calling Jones average.

Podolski just isn't that bad. He's good for 15 goals and assists a season if used regularly. He missed three months this year.

We should be after a top class left winger this summer but he's good back up.

Strikes me as a very useful squaddie.

He always impresses me. Dynamic player that can burst into life and win a match with a moment of brilliance. He is powerful, seems like a hard worker, pretty versatile... I would be happy with him at United to be honest.

Jeez that song. My ears are bleeding.

Podolski is a good squad player and probably one that is good for the spirit of the team. That being said if he starts over Reus for our national team this summer in Brazil I think I will start to cry before we are even out of the tournament.
