I know its been said already but Brundle's "P45 on his pitboard" is still funny on the 45th lap.

Everyone is talking about how Alonso needs to take a risk and how he's not done enough etc, but Petrov has driven brilliantly to keep him behind.
I beg to differ. He's not exactly driving defensively. I reckon he knows Alonso's there but isn't actually having to do anything about it.

TBH its easy. The track has no overtaking opportunities. If you don't make any mistakes. You can't do anything.

I didn't mean defensively, he's just driving better and faster than Alonso. It's not good saying Alonso needs to take a risk, he's not getting close enough to throw one up in the inside or anything.

Yeah sorry I wasn't putting words in your mouth. I meant that, for me, Petrov has to be fighting Alonso tooth and nail to deserve plaudits. As it stands he's merely racing his way round the track and Alonso's not really affecting that in any way.

That's a fair point of view, I just think it's a bit of a slight on Petrov's performance to suggest that the only reason Alonso hasn't got past him is because Alonso hasn't been brave enough, which is what some - including Brundle - are saying.

On a side note, if this race finises the way it is right now, I can't imagine Alonso being too happy at the strategy he was given. He does pretty much everything but trusts his team in regards to when the best time to pit is and they really screwed him over.

The Ferrari backroom staff are a joke these days.

Shame for Alonso. Still for me the best driver in the 2nd half of the season. If only for the Ferrari strategists had any semblance of a brain. I mean even I knew they shouldn't have done it.

But Vettel would be a deserved champ.

This is spot on. Ferrari's strategy or the lack thereof has proven to be a pain in the butt for Alonso. Ever since their backroom was revamped, they've been making errors that no team should be making let alone title aspirants.

And fair play to Red Bull for not having a favourite driver. If they had they probably wouldn't be 5 laps away from having a world champion.

I haven't seen F1 in about a year and not seriously since the beginning of Schumacher's maiden season. Even I saw straight through what Red Bull did. It was made even more obvious by Webber's claim that Vettel was still the in-house favourite recently.

My heart is racing here, Horner et al must be doing 300bpm
The only annoying thing about a Vettel win will be that cnut Horner celebrating.

Other than that I'd be very pleased. Especially seeing Webber red faced. :D

Can you blame them. Look at the corresponding ends of season by either driver.... Webber completely bottled it.
