Yes I can hear you Clem Fandango!
I feel sorry for all those fans.
Now you are making a different argument from:

What 'previous' was Sian Massey judged on before being thrust into top flight football?

Did she officiate in the Championship?

Div 1?

Div 2?

Nope...did she feck. So how come she got a shot at the big time so quickly?
She has run the line in all four divisions, earning praise for her displays from managers.

To be fair, sexism in football has always been a bit of a Gray area...

Post 1590.

Oh, and an assistant referee IS a linesman.

Enjoy.

Oh my, that's embarrassing.

Mockney - there seems to be a few saying there's some kind of positive discrimination going on, and that this evens out the perceived sexism of Gray and Keys. Just getting some facts and reason down.

Just realised no-one said "sometimes, to beat bigots, you've got to be a bigger bigot". Damn.

I suggested positive discrimination would be a valid tool for this environment - not that it had necessarily occurred here.

The hope was that someone refusing to admit her ability might have to think about why the entrenched bigotry needed addressing in some way.

It's alright for the twats on Loose Women to constantly say shite like "Men are useless in the kitchen" etc though.

I don't agree with what Gray & Keys said but lets have some consistency - the world is far too PC these days.

Shall we say 'if you had your way'?

In any case - holding a sexist, bigotted attitude is simply that - whether it is expressed over the internet or via smaoke signals.
Let's just say that on the internet I have a certain freedom to express certain point of views that I wouldn't necessarily do in real life.
I'm a sexist person.I accept it

Positive discrimination is, however, often needed to attempt to redress the historical imbalance in discriminatory systems. If you really cannot understand why then go and attend some feminist politics/philosophy courses - you might find it quite enlightening.
It's actually illegal in the UK. Don't let that stop you telling everyone it is the right thing to do though.

Of course I would expect a feminist course to endorse it, but that seems totally and utterly besides the point.

I wasn't doubting Massey's credentials - I was merely responding to your endorsement of positive discrimination, in response to Point Prunier's baseless rant.

Had men been on the massively-disadvantaged, receiving end of centuries of sexism and were still discriminated against routinely in various evironments you might have the vestige of a case.

We weren't, we aren't - you don't.

Basically you are redefining sexism so that it only counts as sexism if it is against women.

You're being a little sexist yourself towards men.
Whatever happened before should not be used as a way to excuse some sexist stuff done by women either.

You wont find it so hilarious when she flags Rooney offside due to boob ache.

or delays kick off because of menstrual issues.
Do you consider those remarks either effective or funny?

Actually, given your obvious flawed judgement - probably both.

Please spare football players the torture of you becoming a football official.
