I have a new question for you:

Is Arsenal's Carling Cup triumph this season the single most impressive cup run in the history of football?

I say yes.

It's amazing how they've managed to be not only top of the English PL currently, but also simultaneously lead the French, Spanish, Italian, Dutch, Portugese and Leichtenstein leagues as well

The results alone would do it, but boy did they play the best football anyone has ever played ever, and not one of them over 21.

Their two legs against Ipswich are, in my opinion, two of the most exciting football ties played in this century. How they outplayed Ipswich both home and away, with beautiful performances full of skills, wow, just fecking wow. I mean, everyone knows how important a Carling Cup is in a year when Arsenal win it - as someone has already said in this thread, it's not up to Arsenal to win the competition, it's up to the competition to win Arsenal.

If they are 99% certain to win the league whilst in second place, does that mean we are 100% certain to win the league?

They won the league here in India before it even started.

No, we have 0.9% per cent chance with other 0.1% being the league getting canceled because of massive suicides of PL players due to Arsenal's vast superiority.

The way they've put their primary front 6, so balanced and so perfect, against Barcelona makes me think - what can you do to stop them? They are so far ahead of us in the league it's impossible, to be honest I'd rather finish 5th because this way we could at least avoid being their competitor for one trophy - CL. Maybe, and that's a big maybe, we'd be able to win Europa League with them not being around but knowing them, they will probably win Europa League along with Champions League next season somehow.

The only solution is Manucho but he won't come here. In fact, I won't be surprised if he decides to join Arsenal, first team on earth good enough to suit him.

rumor is Arsenal are going to leave the compettition on their own accord after they demolish Barca because the champions league is beneath them

I have just seen the ITV advert for the game tonight, Xavi - Fabregas, Messi - Walcott...

Arsenal are about to become immortal.

Barcelona have kicked-off while the adverts are on - it's their only chance of avoiding defeat.

Sarni.... I think that was the second time you jinxed them.
Don't ever post anything negative about Arsenal again. Especially not when they are playing us.

It's not a jinx, I'm being honest here. Today they've basically secure a Champions League victory, I think the quadruple is nearly sealed, if they can only win the FA Cup.

Jinx? That sounds like Arsenal-doubting talk to me. Ban this fool.

If they, by some miracle, actually do it.. the only good thing that would come out of it is the smugness shown in these type of threads being slammed down on the big mouths of those who made them 'HT score: AC Milan 3 Liverpool 0' style. (does that matchthread still exist on here btw?)

Better not to tempt fate.

Alright then, and I agree.
Don't think they will lose a match from now on.

When you count that they've already won the emirates cup and the moral world cup they're on for eight trophies this year when you count the FIFA fair play award and the "statistically we had more possession at OT for the last twenty minutes of the second half award".

Let's not forget that throw in they won against stoke either.

Threads like these actually have no bearing on what happens on a football pitch.

Love these posts. Like a few posts on an interent site the players and 99.9999999% of world don't know exists can have a bearing on the outcomes of 4 football competitions.

Nor do I believe that. I should have chosen a better sentence than that tempt fate thing. I actually mean I generally love to see smug cnuts with big mouths fall on their faces.

So some perverse part of me would, in all the misery of seeing the OTHER smug cnuts win everything, still take pleasure in that.

Also, to be fair, I want Arsenal to go through. So it's like a counter-jinx. Or a counter-counter-jinx, I'm not fully sure.

They've already won Carling Cup, are 99% certain to win the league and 90% certain to win the FA Cup, so the only question here is - will they win the Champions League?

I think here's an 85% chance that they will win it all this season, unless they are victims of some very bad refereeing that has gone on in the past.
I would give the odds as follows

Carling Cup - 95%
Premiership - 60%
FA Cup - 33.33%
CL - 10%

Meaning a 2% chance or 50/1 against

The bookies will probably only offer 33/1

Those are all hugely optimistic, the one that sticks out most is the first one. Birmingham certainly have a better chance of winning that 1 in 20 of winning.

So Man United who lead you by five or so points have no more than a 40% chance of winning the league? That makes great sense.
