Thought it might be an idea to have one of these, tracking injuries, discussing tactics, etc.

Injuries:

Manchester United:
None. Fletcher regaining match fitness. Hargreaves not in squad anyway.

Barcelona:

Martin Montoya: Broken collarbone (definitely out)
Gabriel Milito: Calf tear (back in training)
Adriano: Torn thigh muscle
Maxwell: Groin strain

Possible teams:

FC Barcelona:

Manchester United

Betting Odds:

Barcelona - Evens
Draw - 9/4
United - 11/4

Good idea. I wonder how many of these there are going to be though.

I'm really nervous about which referee gets the match. We all saw yesterday what happens with those on Jose's list.

Will most likely be Nicola Rizzoli, the referee who sent off Rafael in the second leg v Bayern last year. Olegário Benquerença and Wolfgang Stark other possibilities.

Hope not. He sent Rafael off after being pressured by the Bayern players - Fergie went off it. Barca are the the worst team in the CL for doing it. He did get the Europa league final last year so it seems likely.

I know it'll be going against the views of most people, but I'd really love to see O'shea play in the final ahead of the twins. I'll fully admit that The twins both give more going forward, but to have any chance in the game we'll have to finish with 11 men on the pitch. I really could see Pep singling out the twins for special treatment in an effort to get a red card.

Also as much as I hate it I think we'll have to start with 5 in the middle with Rooney up front on his own, and Hernandez on the bench. Bring Chico on after 60 mins if we're still all square and maybe a bit later if we're chasing the game.

He also refereed the last game Barcelona played in London though, which they lost :smirk:

Whilst the one in the OP is my preferred option, I think this is what Fergie will plumb for.

I can see the logic in O'Shea > Twins, but not for me.

The sad fact about playing Barca in the final is that we won't play what everyone would agree is our best team. We will play the best team available for a game against Barca.

The whole thing will be about compromise. That's what we'll just have to accept.

yep, its a bit sad that we have to compromise to barca than the other way around.

Their XI is pretty much set in stone.

speaks volumes to the quality of this barca side.

This seems a good place for posting this amazing video ;)
Jaysus, that's brilliant. A lot of angles for the final I hadn't seen before, including the fans' reaction and the bench celebrating Terry's miss.

^ Just wondering what Giggsy was saying to Ronaldo at about 5:25? Reckon it could have been something like "you won't find anywhere else that compares to United you know lad!"

feck you Cutch, I mean really feck you!!

I only thought i was looking forward to the final until i seen that. How the feck am i going to pass the next few weeks. I swear I will have no nails left.

That was a wonderful video. Really well put together with some awesome scenes.

Nb. who was the voice at the end??

I'm sure Giggs will start. Also I have a random feeling that Vidic will score a header.

 Its really an incredible video, probably the best football one i've seen put together. Hopefully we'll see a few more to get us in the mood, a bit of Ole in 99 perhaps

I'd have to watch the video again here to check out the voice at the end.

It sounds like Becks a bit, but I think it might be just a lad from a call-in show.

EDIT: Listening to it in its entirety it's the grandson of one of the Babes.

sick of hearing about how we are going to cope with stopping Messi. It's Xavi and Iniesta we need to stop more

Hopefully we start pumping Ji Sung Park with Lucozade from today so that he is full of bunnies to do his man marking job on Messi.

If he plays to his potential, I reckon Park could pull it off, much like Phil Neville nullified Vierra a few years back.

Park is one of the certainties to start IMO.

Certainties to start;

VDS

Evra
Vidic
Rio

Carrick
Park

Rooney

IMO that leave 4 starting places up for grabs. Lets see who performs against Chelski. I can see a 4-5-1 for this game as a wee bit of practice at crowding out the midfield.

I have no idea who is SAF going to play. Absolutely no idea. I just know, he won't repeat the mistakes from '09

Giggs must play. wherever...as long as on the pitch

I would say that if we're talking in musts against Barcelona, then Fletcher would be close to that, fitness and some sort of form depending. He brings so much work-rate and the positional discipline that Giggsy sometimes lacks (see 2009 final).

Will be 2-1 United. And will be more comfortable than anyone is imagining. We will dominate large portions of the play.

Lets fecking have it. Seriously, we can and will take them.

It's a tough one, usually I would go for the twins but they are so prone to getting booked it is risky to play either against the biggest set of divers in the game.

On the other hand I worry how O'shea would deal with the pace and trickery of Villa and Pedro.

I was told by a refereeing expert 80% Rizzoli, 15% Benquerença and 5% Stark.

Rizzoli would be a good choice to up the visual appeal of the final!
