Confirmed Transfers Thread 2011/12

The Cabaye transfer is still unconfirmed as far as I can tell, but if it is true then it's an amazing coup by Newcastle and my hat is off to whoever does the transfers over there, though I cannot understand why Cabaye would want to go there when he could do so much better. He would fit in quite nicely into our midfield, for example.

If it is true then the financial package on offer from Newcastle must be very attractive. The worrying thing for Ligue 1 is that the newly crowned French champions, who will be in the Champions League group stages next season, couldn't seemingly offer the necessary financial terms to prevent him from joining a mid-table Premier League team.

You think so? Technically very gifted and rounded and he allies that well with intelligence and a willingness to work for his team but I didn't think he's quite ready for that level of club - much more Liverpool or Valencia level. Look forward to seeing how much he can impress at Newcastle if he really is that good.

He takes a great set piece.

I don't think European Competition is the end-all-be-all for players coming from leagues outside of the top 4. I think they know in their heart of hearts that 38 games against top class opposition beats 6 games against (possibly) class opposition and crashing out of the group stages anyday.

How many Brazilian is Donetsk going to sign?
Don't they have any limitations on foreign players in Ukraine league?

They are getting good young players yes.. but I have more of this feeling that they are investing in them in order to get double/tripple the investment when big clubs come calling to buy their 'investment' later..

Shakhtar plays with Ukrainian center-backs (and sometimes full-backs), a Ukrainian keeper, and sometimes one Ukrainian midfielder. The rest are Brazilians. They don't really sell these Brazilians either; the only high-profile transfer they managed to pull in that regard was the transfer of Elano to City. They have obtained far more cash by selling Tymoschyuk to Zenit and Chygrynskiyi to Barca.

The Professional Footballers Association Website has a very good listing of all players released by their clubs. A lot of familiar names there including (from Lge 1 & 2) ex-United youth players.
Definitely one of the downsides of football is this time of the year.
"Almost" making it must be hard.

The clubs haven't officially released statements yet, but Cabaya post title victory, on live television said he was going to Newcastle.

I figured that more or less made it a done deal.

+ this

which translates to

Yohan Cabaye of Losc leaves for Newcastle. Rudi Garcia said at a news conference after the victory of 3-2 against Rennes Mastiffs Sunday that the midfielder had announced the news before sending it to the group during the last training. The player was under contract until 2013 LOSC. His transfer was five million euros, the equivalent of his release clause.

Cheers I'll just add all of them tonight when I get the time. Also Joshua King's loan deal is done, he is going to a german club.

Yohan Cabaye confirms he is leaving Lille and is on his way to Newcastle for €5m.

We've signed two young kids from Barca who have had a lot of hype around them: Hector Bellerin and Jon Harper Toral. Looking forward to watching their progress here.

Yeah honestly, it's a great thread.

Thanks mate.

I basically like to keep tally of all the transfers so that I could update my FM 2008 after the closing of transfer window.

I think everyone reads it when it's bumped, just not many people post as it would just be cluttering what is a clean and helpful thread. I think the fact this thread has nearly 32000 views is testament to that. And even if gambit makes up 20000 of those views, that still leaves a lot of views from other people.

I check it to tbh. Easy way to keep upto date with players coming into the PL.

Aye, I read it every time it's updated too. Keep it going KM.

Appreciate the comments guys, I will keep continuing the thread then.
