I really wanted to go to this match but getting tickets was impossible. Gutted.

Hopefully we'll see both Valencia and Shaw starting, with Bailly and Rojo as centre backs. Would love if Martial was in the starting line up too. Should be a relatively easy game I think, Anderlecht are no better than Sunderland tbh. Make it 2-0 in our favour and let's have a comfortable second leg back in Manchester.

Apparently their top scorer might be injured and they don't give a shit about the EL!

    From Anderlecht twitter:
This Sunday, Lukasz Teodorczyk injured his shoulder in the play-off match at home against KAA Gent. The Polish striker today passed a medical examination which revealed that this injury is not too serious.

In the next few days, Lukasz will undergo a specific treatment which should allow him to still appear in the selection for the duel of the quarter-finals of the UEFA Europa League this Thursday against Manchester United.

Looking forward to this to kick off the four day weekend.

    ------------------Romero----------------------
    Valencia-----Bailly----Rojo-------Blind-------
    ----------Carrick------Herrera---------------
    ------------------Pogba---------------------
    Mkhitaryan-------------------------Martial
    -----------------Zlatan--------------------

SUBS - Lingard (Mkhitaryan), Fellaini (Carrick), Rashford (Martial).

    Anderlecht 1 - 1 Man United
    Zlatan.

We'll then win 2-0 at home.
You're forgetting home is away and away is home for us this season.

Trust me mate, I tried my best. Unfortunately I am not a season ticket holder and didn't go to European games last seasons, so couldn't land a ticket.

(If there's anyone who has a spare single for the game and can't attend let me know, I'd be extremely grateful)

Doesn't surprise me if they don't care about the EL. Their easiest route to CL is their league. They are currently 4 points clear in 1st with 3 games to play in the Belgian League Championship play-offs

So how does their league work, how do they have 35 points after two games.

A good win here will allow us to play a strong team against Chelsea. Don't want to lose to them thrice in a season.

The point system in the championship playoff is the same as during the regular season, except that each team starts with half of the points they won in the regular season, rounded up to the nearest integer. The points gained by rounding are deducted in the case of a tie.

The top 6 teams from the regular season enter the championship playoff, with the first-placed team winning the championship of Belgium. Each team plays their opponents twice, and the teams are ranked by points, points from rounding, wins, etc. as in the regular season.
The more you learn. Never heard of that system before, just that they have playoffs.

Doubt Mourinho would start both players who he is not too happy to with application on the same flank. So at best either Shaw or Martial

Going to be a tough slug I would say. If we can get two away goals, we will be doing well.

Are you ready for it to get stranger? Playoff 2 is split into two groups of 6, and both groups include a team each from first and second place of the Belgian Second Division. Brand spanking new for this year. What a development that is, eh?

And even stranger? The winner of Playoff 2 group A plays Playoff 2 group B, and the winner of that plays 4th place of Playoff 1 for a Europa league knockout stage spot.

Incredible. Imagine the top 6 here in a playoff at the end of the season.

The Belgium league system was the reason why I didn't want us to get Belgium teams last round (mostly Anderlecht) unless it's the Eastern teams (:(). When they're comfortable with their Regular League, they could have given a game to us. It's hard to explain the Belgium league so I didn't give a reason back then.

Incredible. Imagine the top 6 here in a playoff at the end of the season.
:nono: Are you trying to give L'pool the league title?

This won't be as easy as we would all like.

Tielemans, Dendoncker and Hanni will be trying to put themselves in the shop window.

We should be able to beat them fairly comfortably at home if we score an away goal.

You forgot the scenario where Fourth place in Play Off 1, to win the domestic Cup.

I expect a tight game with no width in first hour. Substitutions of Rashford and Martial might change a bit. And there is always Fellaini :wenger:

I doubt we'll see Valencia + Shaw playing together as it seems too offensive for Mou.

He like to have only one full back going forward, that's why Darmian was usually played to cover.

We're in Europe in an away game, and we know that Mourinho is pragmatic so he may play a 'defensive minded' team, get the draw score a goal and still having energy for Chelsea and the return leg.

I'm gutted that Smalling, Jones and Mata are injured, they could have been in contention to the squad rotation but we've to do without a lot of them.

Is he not that good? Says he's got 28 goals.
Yeah the 28 goals is a bit deceiving. In the Belgium league they start with half their goal count from the previous season, rounded up to the nearest integer.

    Their system is really stupid.
While it's really complicated, it sure has helped the development of the league imho. The best teams in the league play each other 4-5 times per season which is really good for player development.
