Very undeserved victory, but I'll take it. Need defenders back and quick, because if we defend like that each match a good striker will punish us. We got lucky today.

Fellaini was great again, really showing some great form at the moment and DDG was good in net, though kicking let him down at times today.

I'm going to give points to the players despite the fact I havent watched about 70 percent of the game. I'll base the points on your posts people. :D

Why undeserved. Arsenal didn't take their chances, end of. No dodgy decisions, other than Wilshire should have gone.

This is a massive result. I wasn't expecting this at all. However you get it you get it and we got it. We've been due the luck for a long time now with all the injuries that have come our way and dodgy decisions in other games too. This is massive. Really happy.

what on earth do people expect. We've lost the majority of our team....lost shaw early and yet still win. LVG is a master of this..he's done it before and he'll do it again. Big big fan of his. Well played...

LVG got the game plan spot on today, we set up to contain and hit them on the break, yes it was nervy but credit to the boss and the lads, great win.

Can't believe Di Maria missed the opportunity to make it 0-3. He should work on this as it was a clear goal-scoring opportunity.

Taking the next corner instead of Jones!
NOW is our time … two home games and then the Xmas period. Secure CL place by Feb would be nice along with a successful cup run and an end to this injury nightmare with some strong defensive signings in the summer would be a pretty successful season IMHO

Fellaini has looked good in the big games so far. Probably our best player besides DDG today.

If only Di maria scored that would have been the cherry on top, but i wont be to harsh he did a good run to release rooney and looked dangerous on the counter.

It is a deserved win not matter what people say. If you chose to invest so much in the first minutes its just normal that your second half will be worse. It wasnt a great performance but I still think that our position game is improving steadily.

Agree but by God we were shocking performance wise and it doesn't bode well for us if we play like this. Hump the ball to Fellaini or give it to Di Maria is that our philosophy!!
We (Holland) almost made the World Cup final with this tactic. On the counter, doing it effectively, you can hurt any opponent ( Holland vs Spain as prime example).

Lovely win, especially considering the amount of players out.

Big Dave man of the match. Smalling was solid and gave a mature performance with the two youngsters alongside him. Thought that Fellaini played well - got stuck in without going over the top and distributed the ball well.

Still don't have the right balance up front though, RvP needs to be dropped as when he is not scoring he's offering little to the team. Would rather have Rooney up top with an extra creative midfielder added.

Back in to the top 4.

It was very deserved 3 points. Overall Arsenal were more shit than us. They need a top striker to get past our top keeper.

The definition of smash and grab.

We just have to make it so hard on ourselves too right at the end. Di Maria should have buried that. So predictable that the gooners would get one back and we would have to hang on by a thread.

Undeserved win for us but at least we played better as the game got on. That one piece of luck from Valencia smashing into the box leading to an own goal was exactly what we needed. Maybe it will kickstart our season too. Just goes to show that if we put a quality cross into the box it causes problems for the opposition and leads to us scoring. Ashley Young for all his faults was the provider of such a cross and had a very solid game.

We look pretty decent on the counter with Di Maria and Rooney. RVP was well off the pace yet again and it might be down to circumstance (i.e. gooners chasing a goal) but we created much more with him off the pitch.

A very important 3 points and you'll take it regardless of the performance! It was a makeshift back three with two teenagers (three if you include Shaw). Unbelievable stuff and maybe luck is starting to come for LVG.
Nail on the head, great post.

Considering the circumstances, DDG, Smalling, Fellaini, Young, Valencia (Never thought I'd mention the latter two!) and Rooney were awesome.

I said before the game I don't care if it's the luckiest win ever, we really just need the points today. And we did ride our luck but we also showed a lot of resolve and determination. The heads didn't drop. If we can start getting players back we can build from this position. 4th place despite all our problems and changing managers, it's not too bad.

We were hardly in the game for the majority of it. We only got a small amount of purchase in the game after the own goal when our players got a little bit of confidence. In the end we rode our luck and got the win, but Arsenal were easily the better team out there today and if their attackers had their shooting boots on we could have easily been looking at an embarrassing defeat.

You cant sit back against every team in the Premier League and expect to win by scoring on the counter though, you will get punished in the end being under so much pressure. Its completely different to a world cup tournament.

Good win. In fact excellent win considering the team we had to put out there. LVG still needs to sort the defense out in January as they should have been three up after 25 mins.
