This was supposed to be my first all-day free Saturday, which I was able to spend watching EPL football. Well that's very disappointing to find out this game is next week...
I'm in a similar boat. Worked every sunday since i can remember and had to record Chelsea, City games, then i finally get one off and we're not even playing.

Pointers to the best people who can drive away evil injury inducing spirits, effects of voodoo and black magic on Old Trafford. Looks like we need some serious prayer sessions across all religions or something at Utd :)

This is team I want to see

    DDG
    Jones - McNair - Evans - Shaw
    Herrera - Blind - Fellaini
    Rooney - Di Maria
    Falco

I think we need to get Herrera in again to have some speed in midfield.

    Did you know:
Carrick has pulled out of the England squad with a minor groin injury
On related news, Di Maria injured while on trip to the grocery store.
Daley Blind injured in door painting related incident.
Rooney injures self in his sleep.

The arrogance in this thread is absolutely hilarious. You'd think United had been brilliant this season. Walcott is our most important player, our most productive and our most dangerous. He make's teams drop back an extra 20 yards, which give's others more space. Vastly under-rated.
:lol::lol::lol: This is exactly why we're confident

Groins have gone way too soft these days. Mine started hurting after reading about all these injuries, i think i would be out for 3 weeks :nervous:

The more and more I think about this, I'd go with

    Dave
    Rafael - McNair - Blind - Shaw
    Herrera Fellaini
    Valencia di Maria Mata
    Rooney

Valencia to help with the threat of Arsenal on the counter (Welbeck/Sanchez/TheOx). Carrick to come into the side for Valencia if he's fit though.

This won't be the line up though.

    Rafael
    Smalling
    Jones
    Shaw

    Blind
    Herrera
    Di Maria
    Mata

    Rooney
    Falcao

That's what I'd like to see. Some moronic comments about Chris Smalling in this thread. Now he's apparently a worse player than fecking Paddy McNair. Interesting as before the City game there were no such concerns. He was excellent against Chelsea.

I'd like to see Herrera for this one. This isn't one of the specialist Fellaini games for me, we need energy and technique to compete with them. Falcao needs a few games in a row to get going, and preferably not alongside Persie either, as they are always competing for space and Falcao spends half the time trying to create. Rooney doesn't take such positions.

Yep, this line-up. Although I have no strong feelings about which set of CBs we use because I go into every game expecting a massive cock-up regardless of who we put in there.

Didn't Van Gaal say something about not being confident that Rafa or Falcao will be available by then, though? Or am I thinking of an earlier issue? All the injury updates are blurring together...

Tactically, I'd want to see a very high press. They move the ball pretty well, as ever, but they've been liable to lose it in dangerous areas this season, especially when Ramsey plays. With Di Maria, Rooney, Falcao and Herrera all pressing like mad things we could force a lot of turnovers in their half, and along with Mata you could hardly pick a better set of players to turn those sorts of situations into goals.

We don't have a great defence at the moment but I think its being under rated, they've done well in the last 3 games, We've conceded only 3 goals less than Chelsea who have one of the best defences and teams in the league, if you take away the Leicester game we'd have the second best defence in the league. Too many people being brain washed by the media.
Man City were in a poor run, and noticeably eased off when they got 1-0 up.
Chelsea didn't even have Costa when they played us.

Those factors helped us only concede 2 goals in those games for starters.

I think we could put a decent defence together though. But we never have the opportunity as we can't seem to play the same people 2 games in a row.
None of our 10 or so defenders have made it through the first 11 games fit and available!! That is incredible.

Similar for the City game, for me, a draw will be a good result for us. And again, a win will be an even more satisfying one.

The priority for me is to see a good attacking and possession display from us.
    I'd take a draw now.
I think we've not lost there for a few years now, so have to be wary of them.#

    It's a top team away...we haven't beaten sh!thouse teams away yet!

The games we have played so far, we have had the majority of possession including against Chelsea. Not sure about the City game but can't really count that one because of the red card. So do you guys think we'll be able to dominate possession against Arsenal?

Buzzing now as I've just got two tickets for this. I hope our game plan isn't to try to outdo them possession wise. A similar approach to how his Dutch team played against Spain in the WC would be great (even if the result isn't as emphatic). After that game I remember LvG saying something about how he knew Spain would keep on attacking, and I feel Arsenal are somewhat similar, they only really play one way.

Well you could also say that we were down to 10 men against Man City and that instead of Costa they played Drogba who scored their only goal!

I wouldn't take much from the Chelsea match. Jose as usual did not attack as much as they do at home.. Against the top teams, Jose never does much in away matches. So we did not really get tested. Not having Costa might have helped. But I believe that the real test is playing well at the Bridge.

In the City match, I dont think we were threatening or anyways causing City players any challenge until City got scared and decided to protect their 1 goal lead. But yes we did well to tie up city to just 1 goal with 10 men. But offensively we were never into the game as such.

    --------------DdG---------------
    Rafael-Smalling-McNair-Shaw
    ------------Carrick-------------
    ----Herrera-------DiMaria-----
    -----------Januzaj-------------
    ----Wilson--------Rooney-----

Fellaini for Herrera and Blind for Carrick is no big deal. If we get molested on the wings we can always change to a 4-2-3-1.
Much creativity in this side, and a good balance with Rooney providing the hold up play while Wilson will seek to penetrate Arsenals defence with his pace.

I think United's good enough to win against Arsenal by playing football and not setting out to play on the counter.

    We will definitely win this.

As long as we have CBs available, we can play a more natural attacking game against Arsenal than against Palace.

You can't complain about the defence if they have a shocker and then not praise them if they play well, it seems a lot of people find excuses not to praise them, only conceding 1 against a Chelsea team that are probably further ahead of us than they ever were and 1 against City with only 10 men added to the fact all our defensive injuries is not bad!
Of course our defence needs signings but its not as bad as some make out.

What a load of bollox international week is ! I've been caught out thinking it was tomorrow too.
even worse, my league 2 team are blimmin on sky on Monday, so I'm caught out perhaps the 1 Saturday of the whole footy season without one of my teams playing!

I've gotta sit through fecking England ! The only consolation is there's thousands of us poor bastards doing the same.

One thing it does explain though is Petes confidence, that will be dwindling by midweek.

I am not saying our defense did badly. But Chelsea were not on a full fledged attack largely thanks to Jose's tactics is what I believe. I thoroughly appreciate what we did to stop Cesc though. I am just saying that we ll have a tougher real attacking Chelsea at Bridge.

It's fates way of pissing on LvG's cornflakes.

"You think you have an unbalanced squad now? Wait til i cripple all your centre halves and your keeper!"
