De Gea got injured. Feckin brilliant
It's a reoccurring injury on his little finger. A dislocation. He's staying with the squad but they're not risking him or the match. I'm sure he will be fine for Arsenal.

I've gotta sit through fecking England ! The only consolation is there's thousands of us poor bastards doing the same.

One thing it does explain though is Petes confidence, that will be dwindling by midweek.
 You forgot to tag him properly though. Here, i would do it for you @peterstorey :smirk:

I'm not sure what to expect tbh,its a MUST win for wenger in my opinion since they have dortmund straight after and i expect a loss for the g00ns and if they lose to us as well Arsene is going to be under severe pressure so arsenal might actually play with some heart for once in this tie.

I hope monreal plays center back though....

I am not saying our defense did badly. But Chelsea were not on a full fledged attack largely thanks to Jose's tactics is what I believe.
Chelsea and Man City went easy on us...
I've read a lot of similar comments regarding the Chelsea and Man City games - ie. those teams went easy on us for various reasons.
I can assure you that both teams (Man City and Chelsea) played well.
Chelsea and Man City will more than likely finish top 2 this year.

After the Chelsea game, Mourinho stated that his team played "fantastic".
When arguably the best manager in the World is stating that his league leading team played fantastic, AND we drew, we must conclude that we genuinely played well against them
Note: I trust the assessment of Mourinho more than the assessment of armchair experts.

So, please, fellow Man Utd fans, give our team credit where credit is due.

    Man Utd Vs Arsenal
When our team isn't decimated with injury we are definitely potent. The issue I have with the Arsenal game is the fact that most of our defensive line (inc goal keeper) appear to be injured.
IMO, we have to accept that this injury crisis is how things will continue for the season. With this in mind, it would prudent to load our team with CBs. I'm not suggesting we buy a £40M CB, but we need to buy some (cheapish) squad defenders. As our defenders get injured (which we know, they will), another defender can be rotated in, rather than placing a midfielder in defence.

I really do hope that we buy some (cheapish) CBs and a RB in January, as those players could be crucial to us getting top 4.

It's fates way of pissing on LvG's cornflakes.

"You think you have an unbalanced squad now? Wait til i cripple all your centre halves and your keeper!"
And as if that isn't great, the supposed superb attack we have now seems to be Di Maria, Rooney and VP battling each other to be most off key, Falcao unfit and injured now, and Mata who obviously doesn't fit Van Gaal.

    Ho hum

Obviously sods law dictates that if we did buy in 2 or 3 defenders, we'd suddenly get no injuries, and instead have 13 defenders to try and rotate.

I'll be sat in the Arsenal end for this one.

And if I see a defence of Valencia, McNair and Smalling, whilst seeing Arsenal fielding their suddenly injury free lineup, I will be slightly worried.

Can't wait for this game, we can go 4th again with a victory. Their club, their players and their fans have a massive inferiority complex when it comes to playing us, this "should" be a easy win.

The big hope I have is Arsenal's ability to cock up even from a winning position. I know we did it against Leicester, but Arsenal have a real skill for it.

Will we even have a full starting 11 for this? Why is it always our defensive players who get injured? Would much rather have them spread around to our attacking players then this.

    Lindegaard
    Valencia Smalling McNair Shaw
    Herrera Rooney Fellaini
    Mata Van Persie Di Maria

Maybe Fletcher as a defensive mid? Genuinely don't know if Blind and Carrick are both out. Hopefully Rafael is back at least so we can have a right back.

The injuries might not be as bad as we fear. De Gea, Rafael, Blind, Carrick and Falcao could all potentially be fine for this game. However if all of these are unavailable, then I will not be confident going into this game...

    Also, is Evans available?

Physioroom says he might be back for this... To be honest though, with the form he's shown this season, I'd rather he didn't make that game on time.

What the fudge, Blind a doubt as well now?

It really is a jinx on anyone who has played centre back isn't it!

So, if we believe that LvG isn't going to rush players back from injury, then we have to assume that Rafael, Falcao, Evans and Jones aren't ready to start. Also Carrick, De Gea and Blind have picked up injuries during this international break. Depending on the severity of those injuries our line up could potentially be:

    Lindegaard
    Valencia - Smalling - McNair - Shaw
    Fletcher
    Rooney - Fellaini
Januzaj - RvP - Di Maria

Herrera is a good shout for one of Januzaj/Fellaini/Fletcher.

Injuries are seriously decimating the team. If we have to put a team out like the one above I won't be very confident.

Aye, I didn't really mean as a starter, but with the way our luck has been going with CB injuries it'd be good to have him on the bench. I'd like to see Smalling and McNair start, but as LVG seems to like using a left footer, perhaps we'll see Smalling and Blackett.

we're going to have to rely on the hoodoo we've enjoyed over Arsenal, rather than a strong lineup.

Arsenal themselves could be missing Giroud, Koscielny, Ozil, and what ever other injuries they pick up between now and Saturday - and knowing Arsenal, there are bound to be a few. So maybe it evens itself out a bit.

De Gea is on Spain's bench so should be fine enough for this game.

    De Gea
    Valencia - Smalling - Blackett - Shaw
    Fletcher
    Herrera - Rooney
    Januzaj - Di Maria
    RVP
    Subs: Lindegaard,McNair,Fellani,Wilson,Pereira,Vermijl,Mata

Predicting a line-up is going to be really hard with all these injuries. Only by Friday we'll know who all are available. I just hope Di Maria doesn't get injured on Tuesday. But still confident of us doing well. My line-up would be
    De Gea(Lindegaard)
    Rafael(Valencia)-Smalling-McNair-Shaw
    Carrick
    Herrera-Di Maria
    Mata
    Van Persie-Rooney

With all these injuries the midfield has reverted back to clusterfeck mode.

We usually do well against Arsenal with no midfield. No midfield and no centre backs might be an issue this time though.

So am I but let's be realistic here.
I hope Van Gaal is realistic and remembers Fletcher's first three games of the season....just against Swansea, Sunderland & Burnley
If Carrick & Blind are out for this match and Van Gaal sees Thorpe as a defensive midfielder then he should feckin play him.......i don't wanna see a player like Fletcher anymore in our team

This is the team I would put out (assuming the worst with injuries):

    -----------------lindegaard---------
    valencia---smalling---mcnair---shaw
    --------fellaini---herrera----di maria-----
    januzaj----------------------------rooney
    -----------------van persie-----------

With a license to roam for rooney and januzaj

We've lost this match during the international break. There's never anything to be positive about with United anymore. With Carrick and Blind out, can see us getting hammered.

We ain't losing this, we can still field a pretty strong team, Rafael and Smalling are back and hopefully De Gea is fit for the game.

    --------------------------Lindergaard----------------------
    --Rafael----------Smalling---------McNair---------Shaw--
    -----------------------Herrera----Fellaini-------------------
    ---------Rooney--------------Mata------------Di Maria------
    ----------------------------Van Persie----------------------

Daley Blind, David de Gea, Michael Carrick, Marcos Rojo, Rafael, Ashley Young, Phil Jones, Radamel Falcao,
Jonny Evans and Jesse Lingard will be out versus Arsenal.

I think we wil continue playing 4141 versus big teams, we still have options up front like RVP, Rooney, Di Maria, Mata, Januzaj, Wilson. And Fellaini, Herrera, Di Maria, Fletcher as CM's. The only question is who will play instead of Blind?

I can see Di Maria and Januzaj as wingers, Van Persie as striker, Rooney and Fellaini in the midfield with Herrera. With players like Mata, Wilson and Fletcher, Blackett and a young GK as subs.

It'll be a limp dick defeat, like against City, and everyone on the Caf will rejoice that it was 'only' 1-0. Urgh.

So if everyone who's got injured stays injured

    ---------------Lindegaard---------------
    Valencia---Smalling---McNair---Shaw
    ----------------Fletcher----------------
    -------Fellaini-----------Rooney-------
    Januzaj----------RVP---------Di Maria

Subs: Amos (?), Blackett, Herrera, Mata, Wilson, ???, ???

Not ideal, but hardly give up and go home time either

    :nervous:

He'll be run ragged. Could be brutal tbh. Hasn't played for ages, and looks physically a ghost. I'm a huge fan and want him to get back to a good level, if not his best. He deserves it but not this game to experiment. 60% Herrera > Fletcher for this game.

Pack the midfield, close the space and play on the counter. I'd rather Mata for Januzaj. Both aren't particularly useful defensively so I'd rather the player who can unlock their defence.

No one on here "rejoices" when we lose, they just moan and bring out those stupid moyes vs van gaal threads. So I doubt the caf will "rejoice" if we where to lose to an arsenal team who are awful.

In Smalling's pocket (as every other person)
So our most important players are possibly injured, our best players are not in form (Rooney, Mata, RVP, di Maria) and we havent won 1 single game away from home yet, will be surprised if we win this one.

Really starting to feel sorry for LVG now, only player who has been available/not injured all season are Januzaj/Mata.

I would like to see this line up:

    ----------Lindegaard----------
    Rafael - McNair - Jones - Shaw
    ----------- Carrick ------------
    ------ Herrera - Di Maria --------
    ------------ Mata --------------
    ------- Falcao - Rooney ---------

    Still a good line-up IMO

Big difference losing 'only' 1-0 away to City with 10 men, a place where even with Fergie in charge we were shite, and then playing Arsenal who aren't very good.
