This is the game that will tell us whether this is a true title challenge. Sheffield United was a big setback; top teams respond. If we win, it's game on again.

With Liverpool playing City next weekend there is still so much to be excited about...what a season it has been so far.

Looking forward to this one, Arsenal have had a mini revival recently so it should be a good game.

    Enjoy the ride! C’mon United

Losing to Sheffield won’t cost us the title or title race. Not winning next few games in a row will decide on that. We were bound to suffer a loss as we’d been on a good run and nature of this season meant it is normal. Go on another run like that and we could be top again.

I like your attitude and post! Wish more people had their heads wired in this way! Do people forget that they watch football for the enjoyment? I don’t understand the posters who are so negative and masochistic! If football makes them constantly depressed, then why watch!

We will be fine. Majority players who are going to play in this match is completely different to the ones against Sheffield United. I’m much more confident in this match.

    DeGea
    AWB - Bailly/Lindelof - Maguire - Shaw
    McTominay - Fred
    Rashford - Bruno - Pogba
    Cavani

Expect mostly this, think it might be Greenwood over Pogba and Rashford back in his proper side, but wouldn't be surprised either way.

If Martial starts there is gunna be a meltdown on here.

Martial is not going to start after the Sheffield United game, 100% sure. Rashford was also equally bad as Martial vs Sheffield United so no chance Pogba isn’t going to start over him in this match. It will be between Rashford or Greenwood. Rashford probably given the chance due to his performance this season but I won’t complain if Greenwood starts instead of him.

Start Donny. We'll need him to break them down. There gonna sit back and look to counter. De Gea and Martial need dropping.

    Henderson
    Bissaka Bailly Maguire Shaw
    Fred Pogba Fernandes Beek
    Greenwood Cavani

    DDG dropped ?
Fouled for the first goal and the second was a deflection.
I did say after the Sheffield game he needed dropping, but that was knee jerk after a bad game, he is our best keeper and he must start.

If martial starts I’m going to have a conniption fit.
We used to have arsenal’s number when wenger was in charge. They would find a way to lose to us somehow in every game.
Seems to be the opposite now. Not confident for this at all.

Agreed. Martial starting will kill the little bit of hope I have for this game.

It will also tell me alot about the manager

We need to win this game.

We also cannot afford another slow start.

This game may just define our season.

I'm quite looking forward to this game as I think Arsenal are on the bounce and we know that we prefer to play games that come at us instead of sitting back; especially at home.

I hope Martial doesn't start based on previous games, but for some weird reason I think that this maybe a perfect game for him. I still wouldn't risk it and quite simply would play our most in-form team which is:

    DeGea
    AWB - Bailly - Maguire - Shaw
    McTominay - Fred
    Rashford - Bruno - Pogba
    Cavani

I'd be confident that that selection would get us at least 1 point, but I'd expect all 3

This game will tell us where we are as a team right now. Bounce back with a strong performance and it’s game on again for the title challenge, but if we drop points then it’s a clear indicator that we’re really not there yet.

We really should beat these. They’re nothing special, but it’s so predictable that the media is starting to fawn as soon as they string together a few results.

Not feeling very confident of getting a win. I’m usually optimistic but we’ve mostly had terrible trouble with Arsenal under Ole for some reason, even when they’ve been rubbish.

Knowing this game was coming next made the loss on Weds feel even worse.

Hope the lads can prove me wrong.

I have a feeling both of Mcfred won’t start. It’ll be Pogba with Fred so we can have Greenwood & Rashford both playing on the wings.
McT loses possession a lot and Ole won’t risk having him n Fred both start who can both lose possession quite a bit.
With Arsenal most likely playing cautiously we don’t need to have both of them starting anyways.

But hey, you never know, I might be wrong too.

If we concede an early goal due to defensive errors I might just stop watching after that. My patience with this defence is gone. Most of them don’t deserve to be here tbf.

We haven't actually been that bad but unfortunately lapses in concentration are what costs us a foothold in games. We gave away 2 awful goals which were down to DDG more than any player. That doesn't instill confidence in your defence. The most senior player in our back 5 needs to speak to his defence far more.
This is a vital game to get back into contention.

For the first time in months I start the day not looking forward to our game. We really need to bounce back big time after the last shambles

Yeah I watched the goals against Sheffield about a 100 times. And yes, De Gea should’ve cleared the second one and so on. But after watching that again and all the other shit goals we’ve conceded this season it’s clear that the whole defence is utterly shit in those situations. Not just GK. Every player in that back 5 had some shocking moments this season.

Arsenal will change their formation I'll bet. We've looked vulnerable when having to make the play rather than counter;we simply don't like teams setting up defensively and we don't have the patience to keep ball. There's always a Hollywood pass in us and that leads to counters from the opposition.

I'm not so much worried about which personnel we choose, but what role they play. Need to be disciplined. If that means Fred playing deeper and marshalling the midfield to stop ESR or Saka making runs then so be it. Arsenal don't like it when teams come and bore them for long periods:Villa,Wolves,Burnley all did that and got a result. I don't see why we have to go there and try and 'entertain.' Three points is all that matters

I’ve seen all the times our attack bailed us out due to defensive errors and I have to say it’s been a joy to watch. Not been stressed about letting one in since all the nice comebacks.

I think the 2 Cavani goals against Southampton might be the best so far.
Anyway, I’m tired of seeing this defence not doing their job. They have to do better especially with the 2 feck ups in the last game.

PS: I don’t want to sound negative. Just want to see flawless performances from our defenders the 2nd half of the season. But it might be too much to Ask for..

De Gea has got a lot of stick for that goal, but I personally think the defence/midfield were a lot more culpable. De Gea at least got the ball away from immediate danger. The fact that they were able to find Burke twice in the heart of our 6-yard box with absolutely nobody around him was unforgivable. De Gea should have booted the ball out of play, but he at least bought the defence time to get organised.

De Gea could've done more. But the defence could have done something.

Yep. Full backs will provide the width. We don't really have wingers in the squad my friend. I suppose we could ask if Giggsy and Kanchelskis are doing anything.

MUST win. Just had a gander at the table and didn't realise how close it still is in the top 6. The SU game really through a spanner in the works.

    Time for a reaction lads.
