We're minnows, so we should continue to act like minnows? You're not making any sense.

This is the inherent advantage Barca have.
    1. They buy expensive flashy players
    2. Kids grow up idolizing those players
    3. Those same kids become professional players and then want to be like their idols so they think a move to Barca is the only way to achieve that

Then you want to make it to another advantage is given to them by allowing them to sell off any bad buy on their part so they can do a repeat of the 3 steps I just gave. De Ligt is the perfect example. You don't think Dutch players gravitate towards Barca because of what I just said? United need to stop that cycle and compete for those same talents otherwise it becomes a hole to big to climb out of (short of the Saudi's buying up United).
I'd prefer you saying we'll get players that suit us when we target them, not because we wanna prevent others from getting better. The focus should be ours and solely based on ours, what Barca will do is irrelevant at the moment. If they wanna get him, they will, regardless of whether we take Coutinho off their hands or not.

Yes because how many teams have gone to PSG and scored three goals, regardless of whether they're gifted or not?

We gifted Barcelona two goals tonight. You have to score them and we did that.

We have been hard to beat under Ole and have countered well. Teams would have been fearing that whether you think so or not.
    :houllier: Ole delusion syndrome

If you win a game like that then you’ve outplayed the opposition

    Keep living in dreamland

OK. My definition of being outplayed is more like tonight, not psg first leg but we all have our own opinions.

I am off to dreamland now for not agreeing with a opinion :lol:

Romero. Not long back Argentinian no.1. A level down, but not unsuitable.

Anyway...the alternative...throw another 80+ million fee down the drain?
Wouldn't be the worst situation to be in so long as the money can be invested elsewhere, though I'm not even sure that De Gea can realistically go anywhere now. Who can afford his wages and transfer fee? Who needs an elite goalkeeper right now?

List of some of the stupidest decisions in the last 6 years:

    - Bought Fellaini for 4m more than his release clause on deadline day.
    - Dithered on Herrera and had the whole drama with the 3 lawyers (or whoever they were) showing up at the Spanish FA
    - Bid for every midfielder on the planet from De Rossi to Khedira on deadline day
    - Sold Welbeck and Zaha and bought Depay
    - Paid Nani to play for Sporting in a deal to bring in Rojo.
    - Let Evans go who was a better ball playing defender
    - Bought di Maria for 16m more than what he was available to PSG for a little earlier in the summer.
    - Sold di Maria for a loss after one season
    - Paid 6m for loaning a crocked Falcao
    - Sold Blind while at the same time gave Rojo a new contract
    - Let fecking Fellaini take us to the cleaners for a new contract.
    - Handed new contracts to Young & Jones
    - Contracts for Herrera and Mata are pending on the table.

I am sure there are many more that I am missing.

Sanchez, despite the last 10 minutes

Indeed, but the money is still flowing in and they will continue with running the club into the ground. We will all look forward to a '' big" summer, but it will be another lackluster chasing big names that will never come.

Value is there in the market. Pool got Robertson for peanuts and sane for a great price, but Woody will chase bale and boast about our app.
I know, it's tragic. It's got to the point where i think we will have to crumble before any proper change happens with them in charge.

Exactly, if we have a plan, i believe we can be successful next season. As bad as we are currently.

But i'm under no illusions whatsoever. I don't expect anything this summer. Woodward is all hot air.

We'll probably sell DDG & Pogba & replace them with Bale or something.

Fans like you are what’s wrong with the club as well, accepting mediocrity and living under the delusion that we play well when we don’t

Fred and McT the only ones who put a shift in, tried and looked like they can actually play a bit. Smalling did ok and I generally don’t rate him.

But our mental fragility after conceding is worrying. Our arses collectively go every time.

Yep what we need to buy mainly is a couple of goalscorers. No point having a forward line of runners if they cant muster shots on goal.
This team needs a major overhaul over a couple or three seasons spending big before it will be able to compete at the top. Other than that we need to look to bring through the youth and buy the best youth we can. Will still take 2-3 years though

I thought Jones and Smalling were decent, and Fred and McTominay worked hard for them but it wasn't enough. The mistakes killed the tie and they have a really intelligent midfield that know how to control a game and expose weaknesses. Don't think they'll win it though, they're fragile when teams go at them and there are far better attacks than ours left in the competition.

We don't create enough chances, a goalscorer won't improve us in that regard.

Re wages...that would be even more a concern had we actually already renewed his contract at 400-500k a week, that's for sure. On current wages I don't think it's a problem for a top club that actually wants him.

This though will be a massively divisive opinion: despite what they say about goalkeepers prime being older, I actually think he's had his best years. So I don't want to be lumbered with that possibility, and a player that doesn't want to be here but is depressed because he has nowhere to go! Because as you say who needs an elite keeper!

Juventus are the only club that could upgrade. Although Zidane doesn't seem all too enamoured with Courtois! So Real might still be on the cards. They'll probably try to sell us Courtois to be honest. But how do we make a profit then as they'll deem it like for like at best, if not Courtois' contract making him the more valuable asset! Jesus.

You're drunk or you expected United to smash barca, that didn't happen so now you're in denial and can't comprehend anything.

I just can't see that happening. Real Madrid need a huge overhaul so I can't see them spending unnecessarily in this case. Juventus is an option potentially but I think De Gea will stay, and will be much better next season. He's suffering in the same way that a few players do after a world cup, he's seemingly pretty weak mentally in comparison to many players.

I still wouldn't swap him for any 'keeper in the world.

Well, in a world without contracts and poor form, I guess we're comparing apples with slightly different colour apples. I can understand why you wouldn't swap him for any other.

The Real overhaul point is true, and also why I feel they'd be open to it, but only if we take Courtois...which then makes the whole thing nonsensical for us.

I'm starting to come round to your way of thinking regarding Pogba.
I don't blame anyone backing Pogba for a while. He had a technical skillset that was appealing to the eye and he said the right things about the club. I just think he's not as good as what we paid. And he'd probably flop at Real too.

Our crowd is nice to him. Real will eat him alive.

We'll we were still 0-0 and psg didn't actually attack in the first half, so they did have some impact and we actually got past PSG. Have you not received that memo yet? we got outplayed by barca tonight, did you know that?

You forgive my naivety? Oh you really are drunk.

    There is no spoon.
I could just turn this around on you...

How about you plug Fred in to the search. Check “this thread only” and see how many people are watching a different match than you.
Sorry not buying it, he's been absolutely abysmal, energy ok he's ran around a lot and made himself available but as soon as he's got the ball the move breaks down as he gives it away or plays it out of touch.
