Lack of pressing higher up the pitch is a serious concern. So many times Bournemouth have broken forward threateningly because instead of pressing as soon as the possession is lost our players run back and let the opposition player pick his pass at his own pace.

We maybe 1 up but this first half performance is woeful.

If we play like this against Spurs we dont stand a chance.
We made 7 changes and are playing one non-footballer and other players that have no match sharpness. Of course we won't play like this against Spurs, but if we can get 3 points tonight with all those changes I'll be happy.

    Great goal.

Ok performance so far, considering we're only playing with 10 players ( Darmian is so useless on both offense and defense ). Most players are averaging from decent to very good.

Hopefully we don't try to conserve energy the second half because I can see a goal coming from the right flank as we're playing with no one there.

Would not be surprized if this ends as a draw. Need another to kill the game.

Herrera and Smalling have been ok. Jones passable. Rest have done nothing special.

Almost give up. Just grind out the wins for the rest of the season and we can sort this shit out in the summer. Winning FA Cup should be priority now.

Really? He's the only one actually using the ball. A few times hes found some lovely passes between the lines.
And he’s hoofed the ball too much for my liking. Wonderful ball for the goal though, and a few interceptions that were crucial. Best midfielder today.

I enjoyed that half. Neither side really look in control but that's why it's been end to end.

No doubt we can improve on the position. But it’s just nice to see an actual left footer play there.
Didn't think he did too badly. Get the impression he is keeping it simple having hardly played recently, but his passing is solid enough.

Overall not too bad given all the changes. Played some decent stuff in spurts.

Jones, Rashford and Herrera have been good today. Herrera playing in his preferred position.

A lot of sloppy passes through, hope we rectify that in the second half. Fellaini and Darmian offered nothing

Jesse's got a bad case of the Mkhis where he fecks up every nice attack set up by Pogba.

think we all saw that...so frustrating form a United player..he's on borrowed time.
If we do that we create more situations where the opponents aren't in control defensively, but we need to get the ball through the first line of pressing and then the second in quick succession as getting it past the first line and then stopping up just leaves strikers out of position from already having made the run early. Seen Lukaku so many times make the run for a through-ball or positioned himself for a long-ball just for the team to pass it sideways or backwards. It's quite frustrating, but hard to pin down as of why it doesn't happen.
It's usually what I praise Jones, Rojo, Bailly & Herrera for trying but I'd like to see it improved all over the board, from those positively mentioned as well. Just more urgency to counter or ustabilitet the opponent when they press with distance between their strikers and midfielders. That alone with some more quality in our squad and especially first eleven would make me very happy with our team personally.

Mind, unlike many I don't care so much for style of play so I understand if it wouldn't be enough for others.

I was one of the angry mobs folks when Moyes & Van Gaal were with us, so I find it hard to be angry at those who don't trust in Mourinho.

Sorry for the relatively long text, I'm starting to become drugged and over-indulge myself in sharing thoughts.

He's only ever hoofed it when he's won it back himself. When we are actually in possession he's used it as good as anyone.

Our CBs should really stop trying to clear everything. Just look if the opponents are pressing and clear FFS.

Kinda agree with this. Couple of times you’d expect him to be overlapping and instead he is sort of sitting back. His passing in the final 3rd has been really good but his crossing needs some work.
Just want to see him get more involved and offer that option outside a lot more.

I'll take the result. What's all this hype about Martial about - I don't know!

Both are full backs look terribly out of shape.
This, Darmian at least tried to get forward and influence the game early on but he was puffing from 20 mins in. That space on our right with Lingard going infield and Darmian struggling a little is where all their attacks are coming from.

Rashford has been good, and I have liked how Martial has held the width, a pleasant change from Sanchez coming infield every time. Martial does tend to drift out of games though.

Change of players and still no width and too many players over on the left. Makes me think that this is Mourinho's doing. We need width. Not just from the FB's, but from our wingers too. They are cutting in too early and half the time on the wrong side of the field. Can we please find some shape and stretch the field? It's not that much to ask...

The fact that we need a center midfielder to go back to defense to try to play the ball out instead of having our CBs do it themselves seriously hinders our ability to play attacking football. A proper WC ball playing CB is someone we need badly.

We don't press high with our defenders for some reason. This is a problem because our midfielders drop to our own half to start attacks when we need our defenders to step into midfield in the first attacking phase. It also causes problems when we lose the ball because there's such a huge gap between defence and attack and teams get in behind us. We can't sustain attacks.

An okay performance, deservedly ahead after a lovely move from Herrera, Lingard and Smalling. IMO Herrera has been our best player so far.

You can see how we would be better with full backs who can cross. Having a natural right and left back out there has helped. We're actually seeing overlaps. However, the quality of the ball from wide has still been far below the level a Man Utd team requires.

PS) Pogba is a far better player when he's direct. He's mostly kept it simple tonight and it just works better. In the second half against City he did his best work off the ball with his runs. When he cuts down the self-indulgence he's far more effective. I hope he'll realise that.

The beauty of being a manager like Jose.

Martial plays well - He listened to me and has improved
Martial plays bad - See, I told you he wasn't good enough.

Lingard is having one of those games Rooney used to specialise in. Constantly breaking down good attacks but his assist (thanks to Herrera) will boost his stats.

It’s like their first reaction is to hoof everything. If they simply looked up and played a pass it would make a great difference
Jones should be better than that, he used to be much better and more ambitious on the ball. It is one the reasons why that pair does not work, despite their experience together.
