Though he has been poor and has cost us, funny to see Maguire being used as the scapegoat. Almost the rest of the team and substitures were equally useless, and not because of him.

I think the occasion will get to Brighton like it did Newcastle.
City will paste us in the final though

This should be ETH's Jim Leighton moment.

Personally I'd drop DDG for the game, these players have to learn that the sort of shite we've seen on Thursday just isn't acceptable.

I remember it well, Brighton played well, think the team had the nickname The Spice Boys.
I think the spice boys name came later after the the Liverpool lads wore cream suits and were beaten by you in the 90s.

We’d worn cream suits in 83 and arrived by helicopter etc we were known for partying (especially Jimmy Melia and his white dancing shoes! ) so we got called the original Spice Boys much later as we also ultimately lost to you.

Shame Liverpool didn’t copy out relegation that season as well. We were already relegated before the cup final.

Another season low incoming, Erik will say we didn't follow our principles

I know it's a semi but if he really wants to send a message to our players he should drop DDG, Sancho but I don't think he will

he’s been terrible for a few years and creates panic around him. The slowest most ponderous player at the club. Can’t wait to see the back of him

    -------------------De Gea
    Bissaka--Lindelöf--Shaw--Dalot
    -----------Casemiro--Eriksen
    -----------------Fernandes
    Antony-------Sabitzer-----Rashford

If we had anything close to a Romero-quality backup keeper currently, they'd be playing, but unfortunately we don't. Sabitzer has plenty of experience playing as a striker, can press and play football, and has always looked better the further up the pitch we've used him.

One thing we've been good at is bouncing back! So I anticipate a reaction, hopefully our best midfield trio with Rashford up top.

    Think we can nick this.

I expect us to bounce back and win this one. The issue then is we play City in the final and will get well beaten As we are no match for them, more so without Varane and martinez. I suppose Varane could be back by then.

Best chance to win this is if Casemiro, Bruno, Eriksen, Martial and Rashford all start.

We will need a very strong midfield. 4-3-3 I would play with Sabitzer, Fred and Casemiro in Midfield with Bruno on left side of front 3.

We do recall we beat them the last time we played them?
That was at Old Trafford, we had a full strength team, they were in much poorer form, and we still needed a somewhat controversial goal to equalise after they played us off the park early in the second half.

They didn’t play us off the park. In fact we had the clearer chances throughout that match with Haaland being in Shaws pocket the entire game.
Plus nobody knows what form City will be in come the final? The final isn’t being played tomorrow

I said "they played us off the park early in the second half". We shaded the first half and had the better chances but then they took control and until the Grealish goal we pretty much couldn't get out of our own half.

But you're right about form, we don't know how they'll look by June.

The final is in June. Martinez could be back for that.

They didn’t play us off the park though, they had limp possession and nothing more? One shot on target or something wasn’t it?
Even if I agree with you, we had the clearer chances in the entire first half and after they scored so you’re putting the importance on a 15 minutes spell anyway

I don't normally criticise our players but Maguire is horrendous. Is it any surprise that, the minute he comes back into the team, we start conceding these freak goals?

I would drop Maguire it is obvious he is not good enough and if fit either Varane or Shaw to partner Lindelof, Maguire is too much of a liability. As for DDG not sure what I would do, it is either hot or cold with him at the moment and again someone who is not reliable. He can either save us conceding or easily let one in. For me you cannot expect other players to take up the slack for those inept players and not concentrate on their own game at the same time, but I still expect us to win but it will be close.

They'll probably start next season as favourites to finish above us too.
This is nearly as bad as your Chelsea are closer to being a top side than us waffle.

The back four and keeper give cause for concern, but Bruno being back gives me hope.

I’m almost certain there’s going to be times where they just look so much sharper, skilful and determined but we’ve still got a great chance of winning.

And yet still nowhere near as bad as some of your laughable predictions in the top 4 threads.

I mean you literally tried telling me Brighton aren't favourites for the game tomorrow just a week ago and yet here we are. Do you ever get bored of looking completely delusional?

We'll see what the bookies say. It will be closer than you all think if we don't have a good Summer window.

is this the same Brighton that lost to Spurs & Fulham and drew with Brentford, Leeds & Palace in their last 11 matches?
    Vs Spurs - 1.43 xg vs 0.83
    Vs Brentford - 4.47 xg vs 1.6
    Vs Fulham - 2.22 xg vs 0.34
    Vs palace - 2.5 xg vs 1.08
    Vs Leeds - 1.89 xg vs 1.66

Their only bad performance in those 5 games was vs Leeds where yeah it was a fair draw. They outplayed every other team and got fecked by the refs in multiple actions vs Spurs for example or just had some bad finishing and clinical opposition finishing, conceding 2 goals from 0.3xG for example.

Oh and before you say "maybe they just can't finish chances like top teams", United is underperforming their xG by more than Brighton is this season.

They are an excellent team really, and performance wise, expected stats wise (which essentially rates how well they create and prevent chances over a season), they are the 3rd best side in the league. They have their weaknesses as well they have a mid table squad mostly and a mid table budget, but as a team, the way they play, is that of a top team. Things like keeping the shots out in the key moments or finishing the chances you create they lag behind.
