Think we have to press now.
Rashford is sort of a nonentity at holding up the ball. Hed be virtually cut off if we play on the break.

Nothing has been confirmed with the teams, right?
Might be a bluff. Lukaku to start?

Rashford might be a blessing in disguise. Listen, him and Lukaku are completely different players and I'm sure Chelsea thought Lukaku possibly missing the match was all mind games. Im sure they've been prepping for Lukaku but with Rashford playing -- it could totally feck up their defensive game plan.

Think people have forgotten what Rashford did to Chelsea last season.

His pace and persistent running in behind will allow Sanchez and Lingard to play in between the lines.

People saying Martial is a better striker than Lukaku? They are joking, right?
I don't believe it's an outrageous claim. Lukaku had the better season this year but Martial imo would've scored more than him if he'd been given those minutes.

    Nobody has said that.
There have been many posters saying that Martial would be a better striker with all the predictable cliches. 'Attacking manager, run of games, midfield 3, progressive tactics' etc.

There are a few out there that consider Martial on the same level of talent as Mbappe as well. He has a fan club on here.

    Welcome to Manchester reception committee
So, just me that thinks the Rashford news is welcome then?
Welcome is awkward, because it probably does mean Lukaku is injured. But certainly not such bad news as some are hearing it. Rashford hit a couple against Chelsea last year, he did the same to Liverpool this season.

In any case it'll be how the team play that will decide this.

People said Martial over Rashford given the news that Lukaku was out. Not Martial over Lukaku

    Based on what?

Martial doesn't even play CF for France either. People should get over this obsession
He doesn't play for France full stop.

I was talking about in general not in this thread. And even in this thread you have one person saying that.

Common man. You've nothing to base that on. Lukaku has largely been great for us. And remember after Xmas he dragged us through few matches.

Martial doesn't have a ranking as a striker, he's barely played there in the past 2.5 years.

Taking the next corner instead of Jones!

Didn't read it like that (gulp) and hope no-one thinks I mean that i'd rather have either over Lukaku. Was saying if the big man is injured then I'd rather Rashford start than Martial (just my preference obvs).

I've really not seen 'many people' saying that Martial is currently a better striker than Lukaku. abdo is the only one I've seen say that. Not seen anyone say he's on the same level as Mbappe either. If there is anyone who has said that, then it'd be along the same lines of that thread someone made about comparing Mbappe to Rashford. They're not comparable.

@Niall if Man United win this evening with Martial scoring the winning goal can you change the header to MartialCafe.net for 24 hours to appease Martial fan boys?

That was me. Perhaps, I was a bit over overzealous about Rashfords form at the time. I concede at the minute he's nowhere near Mbappe but I still strongly believe in Rashfords talent.

Edit: Also one could turn a blind eye, since I'm sucker for young talent coming through Man Utd ranks. I can be somewhat biased! :D

I'd certainly rather Lukaku up front as I'm not as big a Rashford fan as many, but it's worth remembering he has scored..

    2 goals v Man City
    2 goals v Liverpool
    2 goals v Chelsea
    2 goals v Arsenal

In the last 2.5 years. Not a bad record in big games whatsoever.

Having frequented the Martial and Lukaku thread and gotten fed up with their contents, I can assure you that there is a significant minority that believe that Martial is currently better (but not being given the chance).

The two most common lines of reasoning are goals per minute and being a 'better footballer' (usually a mention of bad first touch is in there for Lukaku).

It's not an isolated case but a distinct portion of the forum. And it's most common when Martial has a bad game on the left so there's talk of him as a striker.

I’m pretty confident that won’t happen. So, sure, why not?!

Rashford is a big game player, when teams give him space to work with he is deadly.

He was in poor form before scoring a double against Liverpool. Last season against Chelsea he was a surprise pick over Zlatan and he was great.

No. I think he had a great match and I just knee jerked it completely. Ah well. Rather than all the negativity we get at times.

Not to mention scoring 2 and assisting 1 v Arsenal on his PL debut.

I'm going to attempt to find and correlate the thread to his performance now. Other explanation is that I had too much Buckfast.
