We have lost the ball so many times, what is going on? I don't understand why so many players can lose the ball that often! Neville summed it up perfectly, it's just all individuals there's no team ethic there first half. I hope Jose lays in to them, maybe a substitute at half-time...

We are constantly trying to play through the middle, it did not work in the first half. Will we be intelligent enough to try using width?. I doubt it, if it is Mourinhos idea to play all through the middle he needs a wake up call. And get Young off he constantly stops and turns back. Or if not loses the ball. We look clueless. We need to play wider or we will lose. How many shots on target did we get playing through the middle in the first half?

Manchester Utd never lose, just run out of time
One thing I'll give Pogba - even though he is playing like shit, he's continuing to get on the ball and try to move us forward. It's an improvement on other games where he's played badly and drifted pretty much entirely out of the match. And he was getting slightly better as the half wore on.

A lot of talk that Jose has given up on the league and will focus on the cups, not caring whether he finishes 2nd or 4th.

Now - that is pragmatic and it does make some sense.

But how acceptable is it, in terms of principles, for Manchester United to jack in the league two seasons running months before the final league game?
If we continue like this we ain't getting 4th even. Until it's mathematically impossible to drop to 5th place, we need to put in a massive effort in the meantime.

    Never Mourinho’s fault is it.

He’s had the team for how long? And it’s still so disjointed. feck knows what they do on the training ground.
He really has some strong followership here. I don't how long it takes for people to realize that they cannot blame the players forever.

I think there are two ways to look at it. My point of view is that there seems to be no method to our attacks, no coached movements, our players don't look motivated and there is a distinct lack of structure. You can blame the players but it's dumb not to see Mourinho is at fault for this.

Under Mourinho, we really really do.
Exactly, he’s the person the long balls are meant to go to, plus he provides aggression in midfield.
Not sure why Mourinho thinks Lukaku can do the same aside from him being over 6 foot.

I see what you're saying but my word is that how far we've fallen?
Perhaps, I think he would outmuscle the city midfield too and provide an alternative in attack.

    1st half?

    Lethargic. No mentality. Too slow.

CP started pressing right from the off while we sat back.
    Why?
Because we couldn't string 3 passes together leave alone press from the off. If our players are not able to carry the ball forward and their players do, then obviously we will be sitting back most of the time

We really should never have bothered with Alexis all things considered now as there were more urgent needs at the time. We just contributed to making him and his agent richer. Preventing City from getting their target is one thing but having zero clue on how to include him in a functioning and coherent setup is far worse.
Yep, Martial was in great form on the left. We needed a right mid really badly. Christ sake I would've taken a cheaper risk on Barella for centre midfield all things considered. Mahrez and Barella potentially could've relieved some of our problems but we only seem to add to them. Now we have a 'star' player who loves playing from the left when we already had a younger guy cementing his place there.

P.S just to add there is no blame to Lukaku who has done well feeding off scraps all year. How is a centre forward meant to impact games when we play like this?

Pogba is honestly a joke. His defensive effort is embarrassing and he gets his two midfielders to cover all of his work and what does he do? Picks up a false LB role and doesn't even try to attack either. What exactly is he even meant to be doing out there?

Won't fault the front 3 at all. Its 3 v 8 out there. No help from the midfield or fullbacks at all.

Midfield midfield midfield. Three in there and not one of them trying to get forward. They cannot keep the ball and they cannot retrieve the ball. That is the job of a midfielder. Same old shit different match.

    Team really lacking confidence.

Mctominay off rashford on and stretch the game get their back 4 turned.

Big half for sanchez and pogba now they have to improve on that.

We are a worse side with Sanchez as he performs worse than Martial at the moment. The confidence is just gone from most players now. Not sure what Mourinho is doing with them.

Once again, if all of the players - and some genuinely world class ones - are playing this badly, how can it not be the manager's fault?

And yes, they're mishitting passes, and yes, they're not doing their individual roles defensively, and yes, they're inexplicably all running into the same 10 yards of space...what's the common denominator?
Agreed. This is starting to get just as frustrating as the LVG and Moyes eras.

Need to use the wings more, but i think palace think they can take us in the air and henve why jose isnt using the wings and went for the centre. Need this win badly, hope jose does his early substitutions and we can win this. Palace wont be able to keep this up for all of the game.

I was genuinely bummed when I found out I can't watch Saturday as I'll be touring a college with my daughter. After watching the first 45' today, I'm no longer bummed about missing Saturday's match.

I was just thinking SAF might have a hairdryer handy.
I'm sure Jose does too. But like in any proffesion. Sometimes you can yell and preach and beg but the people won't listen or buy into your ideas. Seems like the case here.

If SAF spoke id imagine players respected him and probably we're a bit scared of him as well.

I've seen more accurate passing in our U15s league...

Pogba is useless - again. We're not talking about a one-off here. It seems to me that we're frightened of actually playing forward.

How many players are being utilised to their talents?

Hoping a rant will backfire on me!

What game have you been watching? He lost the ball 19 times in the first half and has been wandering around the pitch like a headless chicken.
I don't mind players losing the ball trying to make things happen. He's got well marked statues to aim at.

What do our players do on the bus on the way to an away game? Get drunk to suppress the fear of losing? I'm really starting to wonder. The difference between our home and away performances is pretty big. Are they that affected by crowds?

I don't see how this is to do with Jose.

Is it his fault that Pogba is playing like he's in the park?
Is it his fault that Sanchez is losing the ball at every opportunity?
Is it his fault that Hennessey saved point blank from Sanchez?
Is it his fault Matic can't handle the Crystal Palace midfield?

The way some of you talk you'd think he's actively out on the pitch sabotaging the players. The players, and our so-called "superstars" are letting him down massively. We're becoming fecking Instagram FC.
Even if all those didn't happen and the players cut out the individual mistakes, we still have a fecked up way of playing football in these games. We start lethargically, we get bullied all the time. Why does it keep happening all the time ? Mourinho is a bit responsible I'd say.

Surely a lack of team ethic is down to Jose though?

We look shite, all over the place. However, if we just start controlling the ball better and finding teammates with simple passes, we can score two goals. Jose will be into them in the dressing room. 3-1.

I'm starting to find the whole squad slightly endearing. So expensive and full of famous players who have done wonders in the past. Put them all together and they play like they have just met eachother. It's quite extraordinary when you think about it.
