Everytime people complain about either of these two starting we get a result anyway. Hilarious seeing people scrambling before Arsenal, and then before Chelsea, and then before Liverpool .
It's almost like they're professional football players who've done well for years

Let's not be afraid to let Chong loose on them. Could be a Rashford moment for him. I'd also like to see Fred given a chance. If he isn't demoralised already, he will be if he can't get a kick with all these injuries

    Tough game even without injuries.

Has there been any updates? I'm guessing since it's tomorrow all of Martial, Lingard, Mata, Herrera, Matic are missing?

Yes. See the press conference thread, all 5 will be missing. Rashford also a doubt.

Herrera, Lingard and Mata aren't available. Rashford has a chance but he'll have to be assessed. Ole said no one else will be available so I assume that involves Matic too.

Martial isn't ready either, but he could be back for Southampton. Jones has been ill, Darmian trained yesterday and won't be ready and Rojo could be involved (bench maybe?). Valencia is still a few weeks off.

Even if Rojo is available, we don’t require him tomorrow - unless he can play in a position of Herrera

Pretty brilliant testimony to how you can never know the future even a year ahead. Year ago or slightly more, a PL side with Lukaku and Sanchez as strikers would be confident of beating a Crystal Palace side.

Good point of view, this is easy to forget!

Came here to say something similar.

Look how highly rated these 2 were coming to us and now we are lacking confidence in the 2 starting for us.

From what I've seen Chong is nowhere near ready for the step up. Hope he proves me wrong though.

I think the only decision to be made is whether Dalot gets a slot in the front six, otherwise the team almost picks itself: best back 5 + only available senior front 6.

Ole has stated that he expects one of the kids to start.

    Wonder who that may be?

    Chong? Flying, fearless winger

Gomez? Craft, deft passing and good close control- could be the perfect foil for Pogba

    Greenwood- Is he fit though?

Where has he said one will start? In his conference I think he said Greenwood is out.

It's also easy to forget that Lukaku carved out the best chance against the scousers.

That through ball to Sanchez and we score, just like at Arsenal:drool:

That was a great pass and Lingard should've finished. He was generally average though.

Might have got a pen if he didn't try so hard to win that header in the box as well. Put in a few dangerous crosses.
I like Lukaku on the right. I'm not worried about this game at all. With our defence these days, one goal could kill the game.

We've only got 3 fit CB's so my idea for 3 at the back is likely not on, Ole will probably stick to one of the two formations he's been using, hopefully the 4-4-2 diamond as Lukaku is crap as the central striker in a 4-3-3.

With that in mind I'd go with either Gomes in the false 9/10 role, or I'd put Pogba there and play Dalot on the right side of the midfield diamond with Andreas on the left.

I think if that's the case it's more because Ole doesn't really play it. I think Rojo and Darmian will be in the travelling squad so starting with Bailly, Smalling, and Lindelof is definitely a possibility. If Darmian is on the bench then starting with Young & Dalot on the right is also a possibility. It will be quite telling if either of these things happen before sticking with the more common diamond formation and bringing Fred in though.

' Solskjaer has called on Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez to step up and fill the void left by Rashford, Martial and Lingard '.

The sentence above is funny, 1 year ago it would not have be imaginable. Hopefully Solskjaer will get us off this roller-coaster and steady the ship :)

I think with Fred Ole is unsure of him and a tough away game to Palace in a depleted squad is probably not one he'd drop him into, more likely he'd wait and give him a gamne against Southampton at Old Trafford.

I know he mentioned Rojo but I'd be surprised if we see him or Valencia in a United shirt again.

    How good is Garner?
I have seen him play only half a dozen times, and he is a tough tackling central midfielder but he can also play and seems calm on the ball and most importantly always makes himself available to take the ball. I reckon he has got a bit of a nasty streak in him, so temperament will be interesting if he gets his chance, but I reckon he is going to be good player if not now, then definitely in the future.

    And Ashley Young?
    Should the captain not play?
    Got to play Young.
He gets some stick but he’s our captain and has the experience we need on the pitch. Played alright on Sunday apart from that ridiculous early back pass.
Both of those two free kicks could have easily ended up in a goal.

I wonder why Ole never been asked about Fred lately! It's strange really, I still rate Fred more than Mctominay and Pereira.
