    No but he's the only one trying to make something happen. Lingard too early in the half, but the rest are making no runs just standing around and shuffling it sideways.

    To me if we lose tonight and thus fail to get out of the group he has to go. Finish the season under Giggs while seeing who we can get in for next season.
     
    LVG has shown after 1 and a half years, with 250mill spent, hes not the right man at all, this is not knee jerk, Ive been saying this for ages, theres been very little improvement in our football, apart from dominating posession, but doing nothing with it, all players are scared to move forward with the ball, just turn around, and pass back
     
    Wow... What I've witnessed is the same as pretty much every United game for I don't know how long.

    Pass, pass, pass, pass, pass, wasteful cross and restart!

    We've got pace in the team yet we don't use it. We've got a player in Herrera who can open up space and get players in behind but we don't run in behind.

    Our best attacking spark this season has been Martial so what do we do? We stick him out wide where he's less influencial and we stick the useless Rooney up top.

    Watch him stick on Fellaini again as plan b. Watch him take off Lingard who's been our liveliest player with Herrera and leave on Rooney. Watch him stick Mata on when the problem is actually movement off the ball and we don't need more players to keep possession. And this guy is a tactical master? Piss right off!
     
    FFS people in this thread have some believe. We need a goal as quick as possible and we are good.

    Rojo really needs to get forward much more. Martial is completely isolated on the left side. Rooney also has no idea what to do up front. Nothing coming form our right hand side either. Lingered and Valencia aren't good enough. What really bugs me though is that our midfield is not really pushing forward. Need players in the box if we intend to play ball in from the wings. Boring game overall. We are passing it around without any intent. Ball possession is all good and well but if we have to score we need to be much much more adventurous.
     
    Like so many times: We look like a pretty average team in european away matches.

    (Rooney was not our weakest player by the way. By far not the weakest.)

    Sick of all the Rooney love in from that lot. What is it with everybody and their defence of Rooney????!:rolleyes:
     
    Firstly, Martial has been effectively closed down on the left by the Russians. Every time he gets the ball, you can see one defender backing off him, and another player closing on him. That is hard to beat, and that kills one of our most potent attacking threats.

    Secondly, neither of our two players up front, Rooney nor Pereira, are making runs behind their defence. They are both mostly receiving the ball with their backs to the goal, and are not taking chances to turn and dribble, mostly passing it back instead. That dribble by Pereira stands out as an exception.

    Thirdly, movement off the ball is being offered only by Herrera, who hasn't found the creative passes once he gets it either. We are static, and this leads to the defence/Scmidfield standing on the ball and looking for a pass, killing the tempo of the game.

    Fourth, they are sitting back comfortably after the lead, happy to hit us on the counter, well helped by Rojo who isn't marking his man effectively.

    Fifth, we have been sloppy, slow and non-creative in possession, which is not how possession based teams play. We need to get the stats up. Schweinsteiger must lead by example.

    Sixth, and most worrying of all, we show no desire or hunger to get back into the game by upping our performance. We look impotent and slow and sterile once we go down, a worrying habit, also noted against Swansea, Eindhoven and Arsenal. We find it hard to come back into games, because we seem to have no drive to.

    Onto the next half. Hope these issues are addressed.

    Pretty sure he wouldn't tell them not to move. Herrera is the only outlet, and he is getting swamped. It is making Smalling to make stupid passes.

    The team needs to be stable - find a winning formula and stick with it. Minimal changes and only when necessary. Stability will help build and maintain momentum.

    Players lose confidence if they never know whether they're in or out.
     
    I'm starting to worry now that we might not make it out of the group, that would be so disappointing. A draw here would be a good result so I pray that we improve our play.
     
    Rooney should be subbed, but good chance it'll be Herrera.
