Forum Mensah should get a game, he has been injury free for a while now so let us see what he can do.

I think many are overestimating some members of our squad. This is a game we should be looking to win, and if Everton put out their best team against some of the XIs I've seen in this thread then we are guaranteeing a defeat.

The players we should be resting here are those that have good enough backups imo. There's Telles to come in for Shaw, Henderson for De Gea. Though Matic and Van de Beek has not been very good, but I think they should be adequate for Fred and Bruno if we could get a hold of the game.

Greenwood and Pogba got their rest last game so should start. Think one of Martial or Rashford should start as well, and Cavani should be adequate replacement for the other.

If Lindelof could play, then I think he should start with Maguire and AWB at the back. Just can't trust the likes of Williams, Fosu-Mensah and Tuanzebe.

Ah yes, the classic glory hunter dig.

I have emotional ties to Manchester United through decades of supporting the club. Just because we are in a slump doesn’t mean I have to accept lowering the standard our finance and stature demand of us.

I didn’t care when Fergie lost to Leeds in the LC, or started Bebe in the FAC against Crawley at home and eked out a 1-0 win. And I’m not gonna change just because the fan base have somehow become content with finishing 3rd and got less than 70 points 3 out of last 4 seasons.
I know but, still, seven years without a league win ain’t long. Ask Arsenal, Everton, Villa, Leeds all big clubs who won the league in our wilderness years and have been waiting a lot longer than us. Then you can ask Liverpool, try 30 years. And for a laugh, ask Spurs.

I doubt you will find a single United fan who thinks third is the limit of our ambition. But it’s very possible to love and support the team and enjoy being a fan when you have a few years where you’re not automatically top of the pile. It happens.

    AWB is out injured

Think this will be a tough game and we could lose this. Hope Ole rotates as Leicester will need our A team. Think a narrow loss 2-1

Everton will pick their strongest 11 and with Ole needing to rotate, I think the result is somewhat forgone conclusion.

Which leads me to ask: how often have City faced the strongest 11 opposition in the league Cup? Probably goes some way in explaining their recent success!

Ancelotti basically confirmed they'll play their strongest XI. No wonder, this is their cup final. Win here and they
can cherish this result for decades to come.

I think this is the part where you seem to be thinking differently than the ones putting out a B team.
Struggling to understand the attitude towards this game. Would be a shame to field a weak side and lose this and then proceed to lose against Leicester as well.

They can’t. They have too many injuries

I'd like to see Lindelof and Maguire rested for this even if it risks us getting knocked out.

We need to play a 2nd eleven in every competition apart from the league. Hope Ole thinks this way

What exactly will they “cherish for decades to come”, may I ask? It is merely a league cup game, no one cares whether you won a particular game in particular league cup round. What matters is the title itself, the trophy

    Fred pogba
    James Vdb greenwood
    Cavani.

Im guessing this lineup to rest some players. The cb pair are used to play many games and victors back issue wont go away if he rests a game and we cant afford him being away for the period of time to heal. The backups are not good enough.

They have the Blades and City in short succession. They’ll play the strongest available

Need a mix of first team and second to be competitive :

    Henderson
Fosu Mensah - Tuanzebe - Maguire - Telles
    Matic
    Pogba - Van de beek
    Mata - Cavani - Rashford

    Subs: Martial - Lingard/Williams - Greenwood

I want to win this tie and the comp outright. A trophy under the belt works wonders.

We are starting getting injuries and there´s a lot of games to come. I think we just need to rest a few, and we can still put on a pretty strong team. Imagine the tempo in the back four with:

    ............... Henderson

    Fosu - Tuanzebe - Bailly - Telles

    ... Donny - Matic - Pogba

    Greenwood - Cavani - Martial

That’s a good side and perfectly acceptable given the relentless program right now. Maybe start Mata for Greenwood or Martial and have them ready off the bench with Bruno and Rashford also for insurance against the tiring Everton legs.

Just rest Maguire, Lindelof, Bruno and Rashford for gods sake.

They will probably play all games until the end of PL.

Didn't Lindelof admit he's playing with an injury? He's not dropping Maguire, but I hope at least Lindelof gets a rest (along with Bruno and Rashford), and one of Bailly / Axel gets a chance.
