    Re McT and Shaw

(Ole) When asked if they were doubts, he replied: “Yeah, I would think so. Luke has been ill for a few days and was only passed fit this morning. He didn't train yesterday.

“Scott, it seemed like a groin issue. I don't know. Hopefully, it won't be too long as he's not had any muscle injuries before. But I don't know how quickly he will recover.”

If we were to believe this:

We see Pogba, VdB, Greenwood, Mata, Bailly, Cavani preparing the Everton game.
That's already 6 players, out of 10. Telles probably too.
    It could be:

    XX, Bailly, XX, Telles

    XX, Pogba
    VdB

    Mata, Cavani, Greenwood

Maybe the team is William, Maguire, Matic for the holes, we don't know that yet. But it could be a good team out there, and hopefully, we win?

Greenwood at LW? I would love to see we try that. Mason's crossing deliveries are really good, but he rarely do that when he's on the right wing.

Either that or shift in system to 4222 or diamond or Pogba at LW/VDB at DM/Mata at CAM.
Yeah Mason or Mata could play LW really or with Matic, Pogba, VDB and Mata in a diamond then Greenwood and Cavani up top.

Time to rotate pretty much the entire squad other than our ironman

    -------------------------Henderson-----------------------------
    Williams-----Tuanzebe---Maguire--------Telles
    --------------Pogba---------------Matic---------------------
    Mata-------------------VdB--------------------Greenwood
    -------------------------Cavani----------------------------

Funny thing is I thought part of my rotation would have James starting this one instead of Greenwood. I may also think about starting Greenwood in the #9 and James on the left so Cavani can come off the bench and be fresh to start vs Leicester...

It is sad that we have to play one of Lindelof/Maguire for this, unless we are deciding to completely write off this cup.

I am excited to see Mata and VdB combine with Cavani though. It should be fun to watch

I'm glad this is Carabao Cup, Everton seems to be in quite good form in the league.

This is where Ole will be in full Fergie flow, planning the Leicester game now which will have a knock-on effect to our line up on Wednesday.

Axel for Maguire and spot on. That team front 6 should win a game. Football IQ between Cavani, Mata, VDB, Greenwood, Matic and Pogba is arguably the highest in the team.

    Williams - Tuanzebe - Maguire - Telles
    Pogba - Matic
Mata - van de Beek - James
    Cavani

Subs: Bruno (for vdB) - Rashford (for James) - Greenwood or Martial (for Cavani)

Keep 'em out of the goal, then put the pace in to score a couple and walk into the next round. Everyone's rested for Leicester. And if we loose, it's the Carabou cup.

    This game has to be used for heavy rotation for three reasons -;

    1) We just had our toughest physical game of the season in terms of distance covered and number of sprints

    2) We’ve had a ridiculously packed schedule and face Leicester on Boxing Day. Personally I’d rather draw that and lose in the cup than win in the cup and be beaten by Leicester.

    3) Ole/Utd won’t get any credit whatsoever if we win the league cup so im not buying this claptrap about “creating a winning mentality” or “a trophy is a trophy”. Same with Europa. Sack it right off now. We have bigger ambitions.

Time to give few minutes to Lingard. Also, Pogba, VdB should start.

Think Everton's going to play a strong team and rest against Sheffield United. Despite that I would play a mostly reserve team and rest for Leicester.

They’re missing a few and one or two others have knocks including Hamez. May not risk them just as we won’t

I literally can’t give less of a fcuk about the League Cup, especially this season. When selecting the team, select the one with the least amount of minutes played this season and work your way up. The EL can feck off too, for that matter.

We need to be as prepared and as fit as possible for every single remaining league fixture. The Scousers will probably still win it in the end, but shouldn’t be without us trying out damnedest to prevent it from happening.

I don't doubt that Everton would do that, but it would be a huge mistake. I really think Sheffield United is on the brink of breaking out. They haven't given up yet. They played us to the final whistle then almost beat Brighton with 10 men. If Everton think they can rest against SU, they'll pay dearly.

We need to be absolutely ready for upcoming EPL games. We can play FA/EFL/Europa cups with u23s for all I care.

Tired of seeing our PL campain suffer because we put in a lot of effort in the cups. Just rest all our starters and concentrate on the Leicester game.
Hopefully players like Tuanzebe, TFM, Bailly, Williams, Mata, Lingard are all ready to play.

This is horrible timing tbh. Good to have games on to watch but I hope it’s a heavily rotated team the game on Saturday is huge.

It should be 11 changes and we shouldn't suffer too much, would just look unorganized as they wouldn't have played together before as a whole team.

Assuming Tuanzebe and Bailly are fit, then all the other positions pick themselves.

Henderson; Williams, Tuanzebe, Bailly, Telles; Pogba, Matic, VdB; Greenwood, Cavani, Mata

    Williams ---- Tuanzebe --- Maguire --- Telles
    Matic ----- Pogba
    Greenwood ---- Donny ---- James
    Cavani
Pellistri, Ighalo and Lingard to come on.
I would pretty much go with that as well. Be nice if we could give Maguire a rest as well, but we look so shaky at the back when he doesn't play.

Would be nice to win some silverware, but at the same time the Carabao Cup defo isn't worth risking any injuries, especially if Richarlison is playing. We actually have a really strong squad when everyone is fit.

I hope Ole prioritises Leicester. Would like to see Bruno, Maguire, McFred and Rashford rested.
