I'm not taking the piss, I really want to understand: Why would you want Rooney to play? Is it to give him game time so he can get his form back, or do you think even in his current form he adds something to the team?

Sure I'm in the minority but I still think we stand more chance with Rooney in the team. I fully acknowledge he is in stinking form and that he generally plays poorly against Everton.

However our team is just so fragile at the moment, you can't just chuck a load of new players together and hope for the best. It's like city without Kompany/Toure, millions of pounds of talent but no cohesion.

That being said, with or without Rooney this really is a bogey game for us that we need to turn around.

I would drop Rooney for a few games, no doubt. Having said that, I thought he did OK on the left - better than he has done at #10 recently. So if he is going to play, that is where I would put him.

So Woy did us a "favour" by not playing Rooney who supposedly had a minor ankle knock, maybe LvG could use the same excuse to drop him.

Whether Captain dead weight plays or not I don't have a good feeling about this one, I can see Lukaku having a Gomis effect on Blind so maybe Jones should start. I know it sounds defeatist but I wouldn't turn my nose up at a point.

What? First weekend I'm not working so could watch it and it's not even on. Bollox.
Worst of it is, that there is only 1 'big' game being televised all weekend (Spurs vs Scouse) and the only top 4 club on telly is Arse vs Watford. I would have thought United Everton would certainly be a big enough game to televise.

Also, the following week, they are showing Arse vs Everton as the 5.30 match.

With Klopp installed at Liverpool, our recent 3-0 loss to the Arse, LVG and the team are really is under pressure to deliver this weekend. However...it's Everton away...same old story probably. Still, at least we get it out of the way early in the season.
What has Klopp got to do with LVG being under pressure?
Right now we are 2 points behind the leaders, so not really under any pressure. Am I missing something?

Yep quite simply we don't have better! Whether it's a 433 or a 4231 or a 442 Rooney makes the 11 for me. He's in shite form but is still playing better than Depay!

Rooney of course will play straight away, unlike everyone else. Funny because who else actually needs to find their match rhythm more than him? No one.

Memphis needs time out. Coleman is back. Again tonight he didn't track back. No way can we risk him.

Blind has to get over Hollands loss.

I have put 1 1 for the score, hope that's not the case though and that we win. Also I hope that LVG gets the midfield right.

Games at Goodison Park, you know after 5 mins who is going to win. They will either be up for it and if they are, they will run over us. If not they are not and the crowd is out of it, we will win comfortably.

That should be your team. No doubt he'll do something else.

I can't help but feel that if Everton show up they will have too much for United. But they've been hit or miss this season - rampant against Soton and tedious against Pool.

We will get killed playing Carrick and Herrera in midfield against Everton, no balance. We need one of Schweinsteiger and Schneiderlin in there and I believe that Rooney may as well stay home because he never performs at Goodison in United's shirt - however it will be Herrera to miss out obviously.

We were all over them for the first few minutes of the game last season and it looked like we were going to win, then they battered us.

Does anyone know why there's only one game on this Sunday instead of the usual two? Newcastle v Norich aswell!!?? Don't see why the United game isn't on along with it. Rubbish

Given that they'll likely play Barry and McCarthy in midfield who are both defensive midfielders I would disagree but you could easily take Rooney out put Schneiderlin in and push Herrera forward if you felt so inclined.

A lot of fans on here and out there saw Klopp as a great manager to have at United (certainly ahead of LVG). If he starts doing really well at Liverpool, then of course that puts pressure on LVG. That pressure begins this weekend. They win, we lose...tongues start wagging, that is all, nothing heavy. But hey..it's only my opinion.

I would have loved Klopp at United. But that ship has sailed, and LVG doing well/failing will not be affected by Klopp's liverpool stint. I certainly wouldnt want Klopp now.

That is actually debatable. I do agree he should play IF Herrera isn't fit, but otherwise I'm not sure.
Young should be getting in ahead of him based on form. Apart from the second half vs Arsenal he has been poor

    Magical Manchester United.
Can't see us getting anything there, Everton will be well up for it as usual and go through our midfield like a knife through butter. 2-0 to the Toffees.

Rooney will start and have his yearly mare at Goodison.

I'm predicting 2-0 too. There's just an inevitable doom feeling about it.

As far as I can recall, this is the first time on the Caf where a majority has not predicted a United win.

I wonder what LvG learned from past matches and that recent banter wank of a performance against Arse.

We may win this but only if Dutch stubbornness won't get in the way plus some of our players could really take their game to a title challenge level.

I must say some of you are more confident than a Everton win than i am, it is most likely going to be a tight game and whoever takes their chances will come out on top.

Our last two trips to Goodison have anything but tight..we have been well beaten on both occassions..with the 2-0 in Moyes' last game being extremely flattering to us.

You guys are in form, Lukaku is as dangerous as he has ever been and has caused us problems in the past. We also have a poor away record under LVG. You guys are favourites and deservingly so.

Standard post-loss caf negativity. I'm predicting a draw or tight win.

Everton away is probably the game in a season where I'm least confident of a result these days. Feel like we have to respond to the 3-0 loss though so we'll get a result. If we drew or won against Arsenal then we'd definitely lose though (in my mind at least).

Is this the first time this season we are seeing people's predictions being 50/50 ?
Over reaction to fecking up against Arsenal.

Everton has always been a hard game at their place, but I do think the less than positive ones on here are having a field day.

Subject to injuries, see this being a hard fought win.

Everton hate us for some reason. Always raise their game to ridiculous levels for this fixture.

I'm dreading it but past results can be looked at in a more positive way, ie. we are due a win. We normally win at arsenal so they were due a win.

And as you say the players should be motivated to respond to the Emirates embarrassment.

I realise that Rooney is getting a lot of flack (I am probably his biggest critic*), but guys, we won't lose/win the game because of Rooney. You can't blame him for everything.
De Gea, Smalling, Bastian, Mata and Martial. These are our best players and these guys need to deliver. Unfortunately, against Arsenal, our best players failed to deliver and we lost quite convincingly.

In any case, I am resigned to losing on Saturday, so I've already made peace with losing. I just hope its not as humiliating as the Arsenal game.
A win would be fantastic, though and like everybody else...I continue watching/supporting MUFC, in the hope that they do win the game and maybe fight for the title. ;)

*Rooney is like an extra man (we effectively play with 10 men on the pitch, like with Falcao was last year). It's damning that I expect so little from him that we may as well play with 10 men.

I think we are going to set out exactly the same way as we do for all games. Aim to dominate possession and be patient and with luck score goals.
If we lose the match, but win the possession stat, he shall claim that we dominated the match, so the team did a good job.

I've got this down for a draw. Goodison, as you say, hasn't been an easy place to visit for a number of years but as long as we don't put in a performance like we did last season, we're good for a point. A win really would be something to crow about.
