Keep reading on here how Everton are our least favourite opponents blah blah, yet their record against United in the PL is 8 wins, 7 draws and 31 defeats, which is far worse than their record against any other side, Liverpool included. Admittedly the last few games have been tough, but it still shouldn't be regarded as an insurmountable challenge to beat them.

We need to learn to wake up in the first half and we will have a better chance. If we're still asleep like we were last weekend we'll lose again, and probably by a similar margin. But if we're on a good day from the get-go I'd fancy our chances, even though it would still be a really tough game. Our biggest problem has been consistency, which seems to have been the case since the day LvG took charge, and I think we'd have found a way to remedy that by now if we are going to at all this season, we should be setting into our stride by now, though I guess that's largely down to the amount of youth in our squad.

Our record at Goodison in the last 5 years is very poor

Slightly worried, however I expect us to turn up in this game after the Arsenal result. Big game before Moscow and then City.

    He [Roooney] might be injured
Even if he has half a leg missing, LVG will find a way to get him into the team.
    "My Captain shall always play".

Unfortunately, we need to accept that while he is in the current poor/average form, we are effectively playing with 10.5 players, much like last year, when Falcao was in our team and we were effectively playing a man down.

The one thing which really gets me is non-scoring strikers. I can live with weak defenders, but forwards who can't score are very frustrating to watch.

Isn't it funny? There was LVG asked him to be left out of the England team and then he get's an injury. I think he will miss the Everton game - at best perhaps on the bench

    Rooney on the bench?
I doubt that would happen. He either starts or he doesn't get picked at all (due to serious injury).

My only worry is that with Moyes not being there, Fellaini not going to play and that Rooney has been forgiven the crown might not be as up for it as the past couple of years.

Surely Coleman and Stones will be back for this considering they where both apparently touch and go against Liverpool but you never know as Martinez has a habit of lying about injuries. With these 2 in i would be slightly confident of a victory.

Gone for a definite lose. We are always gash here and I don't expect it to change.

I fear back to back defeats going in to the Derby. What with many still not overly convinced in LVG it could be a difficult month ahead for him.

We're going to lose this one aren't we. I'd be happy with the draw.. Everton always give us problems at their home.

Reading that Bastian pulled out of training with the national team due to a thigh complaint? That's a bad sign...

Given Rooney & Schwein out, I'd like VG not to rush either back..

People may not have been impressed with us, but I can't believe anybody who has seen the Everton games this season would consider this anything but United as favourites. Everton will huff and puff, counter with the big man up front, but are not on the same level as Arsenal or Southampton, even when you consider this a local game.

I think it will be more like the Swansea game, however, I would argue that our back 4 will ensure that they do not make the same mistakes and we have DDG in goal. Think Barkley has become slippy G 2, always trying to be the hero when there are better options, Barry is all effort and no brain and the back 4 doesn't look too solid.

I don't think I've ever felt so strongly that we'll lose a fixture (aside from maybe City/Chelsea games) :(
Im more confident against City and Chelsea under LVG. I back LVG mostly but my main criticism of him is he doesnt change things up for aggressive direct teams like Everton and Swansea. If we start with Carrick and Basti in the middle and dont have proper FBs we will get twatted again.

    I'm sure Rooney will play.
I think Hodgeson basically told Rooney, "You're injured". ;)
LVG won't do that. But lets wait and see.

The problem is that its an away game, and we are very average, away from home - this is no secret.
I think whoever plays, it'll be a loss/draw. I said the same thing with the previous game (only because it was an away game).

It is quite amazing that we are the best team in the league, based on home form, yet so average away. It makes no logical sense.

Surprised neither BT or Sky didn't pick this game up, normally a very entertaining one (for the neutrals/Everton fans).

Can't wait for the customary "Rooney in Liverpool" performance.

I'd bring Jones back for this and put Blind at lb. Blind v Lukaku would be too dangerous imo. Based on Darmian's recent away form I'd play Valencia at rb.

Midfield I'd have the Schmids and Herrera. Up front I'd go with either Rooney or Young on the left and bring Memphis on as an impact sub. He needs a break.

agree with Jones in and Blind to left back now.

It's definitely time to put a safe set of hands at left back, and we finally need to decide if Jones can be a long term starter at centre back and emerge so well like Smalling has or not.

Everton away is usually a horrible affair though. For once I'm glad it's a 3pm so i'll be at another game and don't have to watch!
