Umm, pretty sure United qualified because of the head to head against Basel. It's battle between CSKA and Basel now

Of all the people to speak after the match, they choose Blind, one of the worst players tonight. Why would we want to hear him speak right now

EDIT: And then to see Darmian next to him just to add insult to injury.

    For us to not qualify:
    • Basel have to beat Benfica (which they will because everyone else beats them)
    • CSKA have to beat us by a minimum of five goals
That's assuming Basel go ahead of us based on the head-to-head thing.

We are cruising lazily and boringly through the knock-out stage.
4 goals for second place. 8 for finishing third. This is worse case scenario. Also 5-2 win for CSKA with Basel not winningr could see us end up in second place on away goals in head to head. Logically though we will finish in first place.

    Thanks for the clarification.

Is it as straightforward as just having a few too many mediocre players or is it something more fundamental. That 2nd half display was tragic.

We can not finish third. If CSKA beat us by 4 or more goals without reply and Basel win 10-0 we will still finish 2nd due to the head to head record.

I should clarify that head to head superceeds goal difference.

Fecking shite that was. Just shows how far we are from even dreaming about winning this trophy never mind actually winning it. Not surprised with result though, I rarely go into any game away from OT confident, based on some average players we have combined with negative tactics we often show on the road. Pray we avoid PSG, Bayern, Barcelona, Real etc in knockouts.

So in effect we ARE DEFINITELY qualified but it could be in 2nd place.

Absolutely moronic thing to say about a player who has not shown himself to be a liability, more to the point not shown himself to be anything coz he's never playing.

I think Mourinho omits him because he's set his heart on a poch reunion and mourinho knows it.

Getting Danny Rose is a necessity now.
He is forever injured, the manager clearly has no faith in him from what appears I believe his lack of mental fortitude. We can't wait on the never never for a guy to get his shit together. He's had ample opportunity to show it this season yet still doesn't get selected why is that? He is not good enough...

I agree that Rose is a necessity but that stems from the fact that right now our best left back is Ashley Young. I'm not knocking Young because he always puts in a shift but it says a lot about Shaw that he's not our second choice.

I thought the same as you, but it’s not correct.

Basel have a better head-to-head than CSKA so we would have a scenario where three teams have the same points and one head-to-head each.

It must then revert to goal-difference.

Look around mate, plenty of people excusing this with the couple of chances we missed. If you are happy with this many created, we should finish 4th every season for your happiness is the most important thing.
I must have touched a nerve here, I agree it wasn’t good enough, but it was an attacking team who didn’t look particularly bothered about the game. Games like this make me wonder if everyone in the squad is a little too comfortable not being in the team every week.

Yes, there is one nerve i have which is touched all too easily. It's not trying hard enough. Whether it's the players or the manager, I can't stand not trying hard enough.
This being said, i can see that sometimes we need to protect players, manage games, be smart in other words. However, i don't really think this is one of those games and neither was the one against Liverpool, and the one against...

I hope i'm being understood right. language might be a barrier.

Should have been offside given than the first attacker goes for the ball, but who cares... absolute pathetic performance. Ashamed of the tactics and the players aren’t even trying one bit.

We haven’t created a single chance in the second half, in fact we have been pegged back completely and look like Everton.

Zlatan Ibrooneyvic, please stay away from 10 and dropping back, it’s never going to work mate. Way too slow on the ball when unde pressure, the disturbing thing is that it’s Mourinho fronting this nonsense. Zlatan is old and slow, use him only like Spurs are using Llorente. A last resort and/or reserve, people seem to forget all the dark games from last season.
Thats where I stopped reading.

Believe is on here somewhere and I think I saw pele on the new members thing, but I haven't had a lot of time on here recently. I'm sure there are more on here.

As for the talking reds... the amount of negativity and some of the posts on there, was embarrassing; but they have to take some of the responsibility for that. Hopefully it comes back in a better format; I haven't looked on there for months to see whats going on.
