James is not going to get space to run into or counter attacks and he’s weak in close space. Martial is not in his best form and Fred doesn’t have the creativity we need to stretch a team that can sit 11 behind the ball. Cavani for martial? James for Greenwood or Fred for VDB or Pogba I think. Obviously not all 3 but we should take this as a must win cup game. A draw isn’t enough.

McT is headless chicken, James and Martial not offering enough. At least one of those needs to come off soon.

This could go either way..I think we have a lot more we can do, but at same time so do Leicester.

We need to be much more clinical, if wo would have been 1-3.
Leicester doesn't have the same quality on the bench as we do though.

The likes of Pogba (game changer) and Cavani (match winner) on your bench is a rare commodity.

How has martial been frustrating. He’s held the ball up well (the only one that can) played some lovely passes and won loads of fouls. Such an annoying agenda against him on this forum.

Bruno's a star ... not doubting that or that he'll continue to be... but just hasn't quite clicked in the last few games to the mega standards he'd set. Do think he should have been rested against Everton.

With the run we've got now, be tempted to give Donny a game or two, give Bruno a rest, come back refreshed and keen to take his frustration out on opposition.

Today, Cavani for James (asking as rest of team watch the LB), Martial and Rashford wider. McT and Fred in a central two.

Also need to remember that Leicester are a very good team!

Pogba, Greenwood, Cavani, VDB. And you start with James? I simply can't understand any idea in that decision.
I would rather see Lingard there

Bruno very quiet yet should still have 2 assists. Rashford sloppy other than his goal & very lazy with his pressing. Martial couple of good runs but very lazy with his pressing. James good work rate but lacks the basic footballing ability. Fred & Shaw good. The passing from the back is still looking like bambi on ice. Just clear it please!

For the first time in ages i want Pogba on.

And for the first time in ages, i also want Bruno off. Looks nervous, and just maybe, he'll do something stupid and get sent off.

So, Ole, please, do the chance.

Also, take Tony off, not trying enough.

I think half time came at the right time, we need a bit more organisation, it was decent in parts, poor in other parts, and perhaps needs a tweak.

    • Nice assists but Bruno needs to switch on. He's not helping out our midfield at all today
    • Martial and Rashford have to be sharper than this
    • Mctominay shouldn't be playing the 2nd half. He's been awful. Replace him with Pogba even if it does pose a risk.
    • James is a nothing player and with him and Lindelof on the right, we've shot ourselves in the foot, tactically. Bit of a cowardly decision to go with those two.
I have to assume James is playing to compensate for Lindelof's lack of pace, but it doesn't really work because James is so easily bypassed by full backs. He doesn't seem to know anything about positioning.

Can someone ask Jake Humphrey how no fans makes it easier to see that Rashford chance?

If the players seriously believe they are in a title race they have to win this game. Liverpool will put about 5 past WBA and can only see them going from strength to strength. We would need to beat them home and away to have a chance. That is very highly unlikely.

    Red Card for Casemiro!
I hope we learn from our mistakes and take Bruno off at the hour mark before he gets sent off in the second half. He's looked very frustrated and has made some cheeky tackles. Ndidi, Tielemans and Maddison all love exaggerating fouls.

The goal was meekly conceded with no one putting in a tackle. Disappointed that we haven't been far more clinical - it's a common theme for us this season. Hope we keep our heads in the game, and ride out the second half beginning where they'll come flying out with all the momentum on their side. I think we have the quality off the bench to win it.

He should have two assists minimum in that half as well as scoring a header himself.

Even when he’s off it he’s crazy creative.

    Very much so.
Leicester normally play with a higher intensity. Today, it has been much more pedestrian, from both sides.
But it is boxing day after all.
Game is there for the winning.

This is where you want Bruno on, when he’s annoyed and feels a little injustice he plays very well and often pops up with the winner

Pogba on would be a good move though, he would instantly be the most talented CM on the pitch

Can anyone explain what McTominay was doing for their goal? He's just standing next to Barnes watching him shoot from right outside the box?

You really need to stop with this James hating. He has done ok this half. There is reason why he plays. Helping Lindelof and has done that in a good way. He was involved in our goal to so it isn’t bad.

Agree but feel Leicester don't press Scott or Fred as they know they're not great a playing between the lines to Bruno so Ndidi and Tielemans can just man mark Bruno. Hence why he is floating to the wings.

Martial is having another stinker (again) but a few assists against Leeds and he's the next coming of Firmino. He really isn't adding anything. A wider issue is we need a CF who can smash in twenty goals a season to push us onto the league, adding in the goals from Bruno and Rashford etc.

Get Pogba on for James perhaps and try the diamond so Madison has to come back and help track Pogba.

Sergio Romero is the best keeper we have at the club.

    Come at me
I know you said it as a joke but I would much prefer him and Henderson over De Gea.

De Gea is done as a top level goalkeeper- he has too many weaknesses to his game.

We either put more well rounded goalkeepers in their place or aim to recruit other others if players like Henderson dont make it.

As usual our wage structure holds us back from progressing.

De Gea is one of the main reasons our defence doesnt progress as a system. You can see it in corners.

What was mct doing for that goal? That was awful. Pressure him and we have 4 men around him and likely win the ball back
