I think it will be a bit risky to start Casemiro with Eriksen in midfielder here. I'd go with Casemiro and Scott in the starting line up and Eriksen to come on in later stage. Defense stays the same, Martial when do we have news about him?
He'll be fit for 20 minutes then pull a hamstring muscle after sneezing too hard/shaving too close...

Eriksen isn't young enough to play twice a week. This feels like a game for McT.

    Rashford
    Elanga Bruno Sancho
    Casemiro McT
    Malacia Martinez Varane Dalot

I don't think I can stomach another performance with Rashford at #9 and Elanga anywhere on the pitch. For all the talk about what we lose defensively with Ronaldo up top, Rashford gives us just as little - we may as well just play three players in their natural positions.

    De Gea

    Shaw
    Martinez
    Varane
    Dalot

    McTominay
    Casemiro
    Eriksen

    Rashford
    Ronaldo
    Sancho

Chosen to give a rest to Malacia and Bruno, two players who's energy I think we'll need against Arsenal on Sunday. I also think Eriksen's more measured approach is better suited to this game anyway.

Yeah man, a third win on the bounce would be awful. Imagine if Rashford scored again. I feel sick.

    No presser for this?
Wonder if McT is injured after that knock.

He is only 30 ffs
He was like a zombie against Southampton from 60+

Leicester have a fairly mobile midfield, not sure i'd want to see them running past him with ease like the last game.

Honestly from 60+ Eriksen has looked absolutely gassed. And I think that's a bit of a worry moving forward.

So I would probably rest him on Thursday in favour of Fred.

It would make sense to play Fred beside Casemiro in this game.

This won't be the team, but it's something I'd have liked to see us play around with against Leicester if everybody was fit.

    Starting XI
    De Gea
    AWB - Varane - Martinez - Malacia
    Casemiro - Erikson - Fernandes
    Sancho - Ronaldo - Martial
    Here's my thinking:
    • De Gea - Duh.
    • AWB will raise some eyebrows, but I trust him in 1-on-1 situations on the counter (it's Leicester!) more than Dalot and I trust Varane and Casemiro to mop up any mess that comes as a result.
    • Varane, Casemiro and Erikson provide a lot of options to feed and free up Sancho and Ronaldo both through the center and down the right, which gives us build up, long ball and counter play without needing to rely on the predictable (and ineffective IMO) AWB overlap.
    • Fernandes and Erikson could switch up a little to supply Martial with more than he's used to (he and Rashford have their backs to goal way too often) and Malacia on the overlap gives us an additional option.
    • I trust Malacia and Martinez to deal with the inevitable lost balls and non-tracking back that come from my choices on the left and I think they'd be pretty well supported from the right and center so they'd feel more comfortable committing.
Realistically, Martial is out so it's Rashford, Dalot will get RB and I expect the midfield to look a little different.

Winning is the only thing that counts. The manner does not matter in a context of matches in quick succession.

Besides, I just want us to send Brendan Rodgers a step closer to unemployment.
The manner never matters it’s all a nonsense. Give me three points every game this season and I’ll be happier than anyone watching a team play brilliantly and lose..because that is completely pointless.

Varane and Erikson should be rested, so ten Hag will go with:

    ................... de Gea

    Dalot - Maguire - Martinez - Malacia

    ........... Casemiro - Fred

    Sancho - Fernandes - Rashford

    ............... Ronaldo

Subs: van de Beek, Elanga, Shaw

Only change I think we’ll see is Casemiro in for Eriksen.

    de Gea
    Dalot Varane Martinez Malacia
    Casemiro McT
    Sancho Bruno Elanga
    Rashford

I think it would be detrimental to split up the defence when they’ve only played a couple games together, I’d let them build up a better understanding.

Eriksen looked tired last match, so I would prefer to see him rested and give him the start Sunday.

Hopefully the last game we see Elanga start for awhile with Antony coming in to take a starting spot. Ronaldo will still be behind Rashford as the #9.

Dreading this one. Our record in the last 5 games against Leicester is abysmal - DLLLD. GD -5. We lost this fixture 4:2 last season. They are in a rough patch right now, but they always manage to find us out. We didn’t look convincing against Southampton at all. I imagine Ten Hag will rotate some of the squad as well.

It will be a very hard game and we will be on the back foot for most of it, but I think we can squeak in a draw. 2:2.

I think it is good timing to face them, they are really in a rough patch as you say. Would be happy with a draw, but think we will win this one.

I agree, plus I think the crowd won’t be behind them like normal, I feel like they’ll be nervous and it will play into our hands.

    Expect a win without conceding.

With only 1 point after four games, both their players and manager should be nervous and unsecure, and the crowd unhappy. I'm also expecting a clean sheet :)

We've lost the midfield battle in the past a few times and the most recent defeat was the worst I've seen Maguire, he came back from injury not ready at all and looked like an animal coming back around from a tranquillizer dart.

I don't think we'll give them that much of a helping hand as we've done in the past.

Crazy talk. Forget our recent record against them, they've been abysmal now for a while and a draw would be hugely disappointing. We need another win to try and build some momentum if we want to do anything of note this season.

I think we’ll win in the end and I guess I kind of expect as well. However at the same time, I don’t think we looked great against Southampton.

Does anyone even want to play for Leicester anymore? Fofana gone and Tielemens could be out the door before tomorrow.

No excuses, has to be a win.

A must-win, there's never been a better time to play Leicester so no excuses. I also think we need to give Eriksen a rest.

That match was on Saturday afternoon. Eriksen should have recovered by now. If he hasn't we're in serious trouble.

It's more that he probably won't be able to start against both Leicester and Arsenal. We'll have to pick which of those matches he'll start.
Yeah fair enough. 2 x 90 minutes in 60 hours would be a lot.

I think he should start because we should front foot this game and take charge early. McTominay or Fred would send the wrong message. We can take him off after 60 minutes for the Arsenal game.

    Back 5
    Case
    Eriksen
    Bruno
    Sancho Rashford
    Martial/Ronaldo

A draw and three losses so far for them.

We're guaranteed to give them their first win of the season aren't we?

We should try our best to have a high tempo in this game, especially up front to harry their defence. They have been calamitous at times this year and conceded poor goals. Put them under pressure early. We won't do that with Ronaldo so we should start with Rashford up top and Elanga and Sancho.

If they are missing Maddison that's a huge boost. We just need to ensure Tielemans doesnt get a hold of the game. Leicester don't seem to have found the right formation yet this season and Vardy seems woefully out of form. Add to that the defensive line has looked fragile this season and we should have success if we do to them what others do to us and put them under pressure so they make mistakes.
