They are going to go at us from the off. I have noticed that about the little I have seen of their games this season. Will we crumble like against arsenal?

I´d play Fellaini, just to distract Mignolet in the box on every corner. Probably worth three goals. Mignolet gets confused by the styled hair of Giroud and the German military cut of Mertesacker, he´ll lose it completely when Sideshow jumps around in front of him. And I´m only half kidding. He can be a weapon in this game.

Liverpool will press us like hell and not allow us to play from the back, much like Stoke did.

For this reason I've not a doubt in my mind he will start with Fellaini.

Key to this game will be getting past the first 15/20 minutes.

Mignolet looked genuinely petrified with each corner...that could work.

Fellaini should be no where near the team select not just this game but hopefully the rest also.
Play Martial as number 9 and Rooney 10. Hopefully we get something out of this because if not then definitely that arrogant cnut should feckoff.

IMO that Arsenal game was a one-off.
Sometimes you come across teams who are red-hot and every attack results in a goal. Arsenal were just red-hot in that game.
LFC were also red hot in one of the recent games where they scored 6 goals...was it?

I think LFC will be physical with a high work rate. But we can win this by 1 goal.
I think we will be ultra defensive, so it will be a low scoring game.

    I predict a 1-1 draw.

Wouldnt start Depay even though he's been decent recently, their work ethic is simply just amazing.

DdG, Darmian, Smalling, Blind, Young, Schneiderlin, Schweinsteiger, Herrera, Lingard, Rooney, Martial in a 433. Depay and Mata as subs when trailing or 0-0.

I'm not worried. If Rooney turns up with Martial, Herrera and Lingard behind him we will destroy bambi Sakho and Caulker/Kolo. Their defence is awful.

One of the very, very few positives from van Gaals reign is our performances against the top sides. Easy win.

Is there any remote chance that at least one of Jones, Schweinsteiger and Carrick will be fit for this? If yes, we have a pretty good shout to get a result. If not... well we are basically screwed.

I would have agreed with you last season, this season I'm not so sure. We were crap against Arsenal, shaded it against City without getting the win.

Rooney at Anfield. Always absolutely shit, even when he was good.

Liverpool's pressing game and energy will be their strength......

last season with Fellaini in a more advanced position we dealt with it superbly and Mata had his best game in a United shirt

I hope Van Gaal has the gumption to remember this as if he decides to play Fellaini in centre midfield again we are truly fecked - he had no presence against Newcastle and if he does play it should be as an outlet again....I'd have him in the side, perhaps in that advanced position again

I'd stick largely with the side who did so well at Anfield last season even though I'm not a fan of Mata right - didn't really think they use width so Schneiderlein a cert - torn about Carrick as his passing will be missed

    I think he will play

    ------------------------------De Gea--------------------------------
    Young--------------Smalling----------Blind----------------Darmian
    -------------------Herrera----------Schneiderlein------------------
    Mata------------------------Fellaini------------------------Martial
    ----------------------------------Rooney----------------------------

    be interested to see

    ------------------------------De Gea--------------------------------
    Young--------------Smalling----------Blind----------------Darmian
    -------------------Herrera----------Schneiderlein------------------
    Mata------------------------Rooney------------------------Memphis
    ----------------------------------Martial-----------------------------

Hopefully Rooney can carry on this little run and get a goal or assist. Liverpool are terrible at the back so there is some hope for us still. We just need to be disciplined and take our chances when they come.

What's all this talking up of Liverpool as if Kloop has revolutionised them? This is a team that recently lost 2-0 to Liverpool, drew 2-2 with WBA and lost 3-0 to Watford.

I know we're not great right now but let's not pretend they are.

We need to start with the front four that finished against Newcastle with Herrera and Schneiderlin in midfield, Fellaini should not start but I know he will.

Liverpool seem to play great for about 20 minutes with their high press & then fade. If we can weather the storm, we could pick them off and win. But the way it's going I can see them getting the early goal and roughing us up.

    2 poor teams, either way.

Can see this being a repeat of the Newcastle game. They'll be poor at the back but certainly cause our defence trouble.

The rest of the team pretty much picks itself, but we need Hererra & Schmidfield to combat their high-pressing game.

They're a big game team.. Shit in most games but step it up in the big games. Nobody is saying they're a good team, but after getting hammered by us 3 times in a row, they'll be up for it, especially now that they have Klopp and they're at home. There's more of a feel good factor there then with United these days anyways, as they brought in a good manager and have had a few big exciting performances, while we're mostly waiting for LVG to leave.

A sacred, holy fixture is about to be defaced by two bar-of-soap teams.

This was one's a strictly a back of the sofa job with the hands over the eyes.

Structurally, both team have gaping holes in them.

So a draw then - but the usual hate will be laced with huge doses of comedy.

We were, I'm not sure if we still are because of the recent problems with the general atmosphere and motivation... My worry is that they'll just be more up for the game then us. We're a better team and have better players, but confidence and form has a big impact always.

I think LVG will be so scared of losing this game he will set us up for a draw all day long.
