LVG is a big game manager and we seem to be doing much better as a team so hopefully with Rooney back (if he's fit) Herrera and Falcao we'll give it a good go. I'd take the draw because I think we can beat Arsenal but two wins would be unbelievable!

1-1 Draw for me with us looking the better team.

A lot here are saying they'll be up for it. But so will we. And they're conceding stupid sloppy goals , kinda like us.
If we play to the standard we played last week, we'll be fine. I don't think Silva will play though.

Rooney plays we have a chance, he doesn't and I can't see anything less than a loss here. We will take some confidence into the game but think City will be too much, Silva injured or not

Don't you think we have a better chance against City then we did against Chelsea?

Im only negative as our away form has been awful this season so far. Hopefully that will change on Sunday. Form goes out the window in derbies

I can't believe some of the stuff I'm reading here. How can anyone not have any optimism when City have just had back to back losses against average sides? That along with, Silva injured, a sloppy defense, off form Yaya. How can City be too much for us? They are arguably a worse side than Chelsea. We on the other hand, have just come off a convincing performance against the champions elect with many crucial players missing. City are simply not all that. Having said that, I hope we batter them 4-1

Strong enough to put a total of 7 past us in the last two meetings or won 4 of the last 5 meetings.
Was it a full strength team tonight?
City's current form has a little more relevance than last seasons. Not too far off.

Feeling very confident and potential injuries to Silva/Yaya just boosts that.

As it's been mentioned; LvG is a big game manager and i'm sure he will know what to do against City. I have a feeling we'll win it 2-1.

There could well be a shed load of goals in this, but I'm more confident than I have been for a while against City. Reckon we will do em 3-1.

Rooney being back will provide some added physicality to our midfield which may enable Herrera to come in with him being more dynamic and a better passer than Fellaini.
Hope Falcao is fit enough for the bench. And as people have said if Silva is out that makes Blinds job easier in DM.
The big worry is Aguero vs our CBs however. The guy is probably the best striker in the world.

Don't say champions elect. Not yet. The thought of people giving Chelsea the title in October makes me sick in my mouth a little bit.

If Toure doesn't play, with Fellaini in the midfield we can just maybe boss the midfield and their defense physically. Falcao has to start though. Falcao and Rooney can keep Kompany and Mangala occupied leaving Fellaini and Blind to take care of Fernandinho who also doesn't look to be in top form. This might be similar to the Chelsea game. I feel if they miss Silva, then ADM can have a huge impact on the game and city might not even be able to keep possession for a long time against us.

I had to look up who they were playing.

Loll, they keep saying important week coming up for them. Surely Moscow at home is 3 points guaranteed for them.

Guess there's no better time then Sunday to finally win away game, right? :)

I hate feeling confident before a big game like this. That said, last time I did we won 3-2 two years ago.

With Rooney and Falcao seemingly fit, I think we'll go use the diamond and either use Herrera behind Rooney and RvP, with Fellaini, Di Maria and Blind behind, or use Rooney at the tip and play Falcao and RvP up top.

Either way, especially if Silva is out, I think we'll come away with a result. Let's hope so at least.

Sounds like City are proper reeling. If we beat them this weekend, you can bet there will be serious questions asked about Pelegrini.

Exactly, we need to really rub salt into whatever wounds there are.

The way Manuel was looking up at the sky during the game made me think he was more Manuel from Fawlty towers, as opposed to a double winning manager just last season. He's feeling the pressure.

Cant see Falcao starting. Especially if there are still doubts over his injury. Also RVP bagged the equaliser aswell so pretty sure he will keep his place. Hope Di Maria is at his best.

It would would be great if we could give Pellegrini a big push towards the sack and feck up their whole season.I think it would be a huge mistake but I can definitely see it happening.

So this game will be one of two things. Either City are stumbling and we'll have the opportunity to take advantage. Or, pumped up for the derby and with everyone obsessing about their dodgy form, this will end up being the game where they turn it around by hammering us.

History suggests the latter. We always end up being every team's 'turning point'.

My more optimistic side sees this as a game where Falcao could really announce himself if he can be fit enough to play. The RVP of 2012-13 would be four or five more goals to the good given the chances he's not been able to take in our last few games. If we can drop him for Falcao, who's now had some time to settle in, I reckon he'll cause City much more of a problem.

Groin injury apparently but pellegrini already said he will be fit but he isn't so sure about silva he's been assessed tomorrow
:( You just know the cnut will have one of his flawless performances against us like he always does.

That was a bad result for us not a cat in hells chance that they'll lose three on the bounce, two at home!

I reckon this is our strongest XI in general:

    DDG
    Rafa Smalling Rojo Shaw
    Blind
    Herrera Di Maria
    Mata
    Rooney Falcao
But given that the way to beat City is to man-mark Silva and keep the FBs busy in their own half, a safer line-up might look like this:

    DDG
    Rafa Smalling Rojo Shaw
    Blind
    Fellaini
    Di Maria Rooney Januzaj
    Falcao
There's no real width in that first formation, and Kolarov and Zabaleta would have too much freedom in the wide areas. Plus he may not be pretty but Fellaini's proving a useful goal threat at the moment, and he can man-mark Silva. We don't want Blind to have to do that, because Silva would pull him all over the place and there'd be no reliable shield for the back four.

That said, I wouldn't complain if we went with the first line-up. It screams confidence, and City are definitely one of those teams who will hurt you if you show them too much respect but who can be got at if you go in guns blazing.

The crowd will play a massive part in it for them, grant it I haven't seen their last 3 games my guess is that they've had little or no support there. Moscow because of the ban, West Ham because of the distance to travel and tonight because of the occasion. The only time they sell out the Etihad is when we visit and their hatred for us always has them in fine voice.

Yea, sadly I fear they'll be extra motivated to beat us. However, a result for us would be extra sweet in this instance

I just think they'll raise their game and like in most cases recently we won't. Hope i'm wrong of course. Silva being out could be a massive boost. Plus big sides always bounce back after defeat. We always did.

Starting to see a pattern in your posts - I agree we are doing something wrong in training. I also agree that the opposition doesn't seem to have the same problem. I don't know if the club will be for sale soon, but definitely many fans would like that.
  Just to let you know, he was very disappointed by the injury news & kinda lost it. His post was full of cuss words for the players, who in his opinion are fecking each other over during the training, rather than be prepared to feck the opposition.:lol:
