They can concede the ground but when the players come into their area they can apply pressure better. What part of that do you need explaining?
All of it really. When you press you press with the forwards first then the CMs. The forwards were retreating to full back positions, so if the CMs pushed even as far as the half way line, they'd be literally ahead of the forwards.

The problem was for me was that they were not breaking out when we received the ball, not how deep they defended. The deep-sitting seemed like a clear instruction to me to avoid leaving spaces for City's really fast forward line.

Maybe it's the way I'm explaining it. When a player enters your zone you need to press or jockey we needed to press more aggressively.

    Fine.

Would have had Lingard start in place of one of Mkhi or Martial, he's better at off the ball running. Thought we should have got more set-pieces in the first half for all the professional fouls on rashers.

Fellaini should have been off, but only with a second yellow rather than the red, both players moved heads even if Fellaini did more with his, seen those (Wilshere on Fellaini) ignored before, shame he did it as he had a good game up to that point. Mkhi probably the least effective today, followed by Darmian (poor with the ball).

    Shite second half.

Point's fine, have to hope Liverpool continue with their poor non-Mane win percentage.

Fellaini getting sent off in the way he did and then heading off towards the wrong tunnel was worth the admission fee and sitting through one of the worst games I've ever watched. Probably my favourite moment of the season.

Attack after 75 mins away? this was our best half to attack.
Go check Mourinho interview he said the same thing. He wanted to get more attacking at the end and make city nervous. If it wasn't for the stupid red card. Lingard was brought in and we played for 2 upfront for a few mins before the red.

If you don't understand what another user is saying dont laugh as now you look stupid. Mourinho has used the same tactics in real madrid vs barca and i remember ramos getting a red card that day as well and mourinho had mentioned in post match that there are different phases in the game and we wanted to bring attacking players on in the last phase after defending all game.

Answering you again, just because it was his first foul doesn't mean it wasn't a yellow. Otherwise it just gives players excuse to scythe down opponents with their first tackle. He made a professional foul, took one for the team, knowing fully he'd get booked. The rest was him arguing for the sake of it.
Otamendi and Fernandino committed many professional fouls but they weren't booked. Rashford was targeted many times by their players but the ref didn't go anything. There were also fouls made on Fellaini at the start of the game and the ref didn't do anything, Fellaini might have been frustrated because of that.

?? It may not be full force but he moved his head with forward momentum towards Aguero. It's a red car. Simple.
Even Aguero moved his head forward if you see the replays again, it's just that Fellaini has more hair so his head looks bigger.

I can see Pep has bought his Barca tactics to the PL and is training his players how to dive around and get players sent off.

Yes Atkinson should have done better but just because he decided not to book those cnuts for their first (and several) time fouls, doesn't mean he has to expect the same treatment from him. I mean it is well known that Atkison is a shit ref, don't expect any consistency from the old fool. He should have taken his yellow and got back in position without protesting stupidly cause at the end of the day, what the hell does it achieve ?

    He did that  ?

He was right in protesting but the referee allowed them to take a quick free kick and didn't allow Fellaini to get back to his position. The FA charge Jose if he says something about the referees but they won't do anything to these biased referees.
