Need to score at least 2-3 goals. Can't see us keeping Haaland quiet he's a machine.

City are not top of the league, they aren't as dominant as everyone seems to imagine.

There are flashes in games of what United could be under Ten Hag, the goal against Arsenal, the first goal last night.
We will have more possession than we have had in recent times at the Etihad, just hope that Rashford is back as his pace will be needed.

I know it's a lot down to the postponed matches and all that but having Liverpool Arsenal and City in your first 7 League matches is a tough start.
Youd have taken 6 points from them had you been offered them previously right!

I think the key for us is to get through the international break unscathed. An injury to Varane, Martinez or Eriksen and I worry about how we get through the game. It feels like our typical luck going into a game like this the last few years we seem to be missing our most important players. Hopefully that isn’t the case this time.

As other posters have called out, city looking more vulnerable this season so there will be moments in the game for us and we just need to be clinical.

I would go into the game pretty confident we can compete if our back four are available and most importantly for us if Martial is fit along with Rashford to prey on those vulnerabilities at the back with city. We need Martial to look after the ball when it gets up to the half way line and we can build up. I fear with Ronaldo or to slightly lesser extent Rashford up front we get suffocated as they can’t hold it up good enough and ultimately crack under the pressure.

Hope we have a fully fit team for this one. They play there full backs very high. This will work in our favour as Antony likes to stay out wide. He just have a lot of space to do what he wants. Need eriksen to be playing them magical balls in behind to rashford. We can beat these. Solskjær use to have a lot of joy against these and we’ve up our level a little bit now though, we can keep possession a lot better which is good if we’re in the lead.

Can't see us winning by any stretch of the imagination. We simply don't score enough goals at the moment and they are very unlikely to not score. So I guess, we have to look at how they perform, how they cope with real pressure from 10 top-class outfield opponents and very possibly the best forward in the world right now. I certainly don't expect us to capitulate like last season.

If by some miracle we get something from the game it will be a huge bonus and should boost confidence. But we'll need everyone to play at their very best and no one to make stupid mistakes

Wenre good enough to hold them to a draw. If we play pragmatically / on the counter we might have the better chances overall. Just need to see if we have the mettle to take them.

In any case starting Ronaldo in this one would be suicidal. Hopefully one of Rashford or Martial will be fit, even better if both.

Think this is coming too early for an improving team. Can see city 2-0 but a far better showing from us than some in recent years barring Solskjaers high points when he set us up brilliantly.

Should be an interesting game this, I expect and hope for a similar style that we played against Liverpool.

I'm not Rashfords biggest fan but this is the kind of game he is absolutely critical. Need a big game from him.

Think we'll get beat but something at the back of my mind tells me we will do them.

They are going to dominate us, our only hope is on the break. If they score early it will be a long afternoon.
Not necessarily as they won't change their game even if they score early. Long afternoon either way. Just hoping we're competitive and get something. At worst, don't get embarrassed

It's more about us dropping our heads than them changing their game.
Fair enough - hopefully with some of the characters added to the dressing room, that unfortunate element will soon be a thing of the past

Ten hag has 2 weeks to analyze city and decipher a plan of action and train the players.

For the first time in ages, I’m looking forward to this fixture. I really think Utd have a chance! City are always slow after the international break and with Utd having less players on International duty, this could be a big advantage.

Assuming Rashford and Martial are fit, which three of Martial, Rashford, Ronaldo, Antony and Sancho should start the game?
    Ronaldo? 100 ℅ hell no.

Martial as #9 and Antony as RW.

A bit difficult between Rashford and Sancho for the LW position but I'd go with Rashford. He's always a big game player and counter attacking suits him really well.

Any news on Rashford and Martial?

Let's pray one of them would be fit for this match. It's dreadful to think if we have to start Ronaldo against this lot. They'll massacre us.
It's usually an error prone ropey defence that gets massacred by City and regardless who United play as a striker I'd hope they can remain solid defensively.

fuk me....they have a 17 day gap down between the match yesterday and our next match against City

I mean it's great in terms of recovery and really just being able to get on the training pitch but not doing anything competitive for that long could be bad going into the City match

Rashford (LW), Martial (CF) and Sancho on the left. I think that picks itself based on form and experience in such a big game.

I think 10 of the 11 pick themselves for me. I can’t however believe I’m even saying this but I’m not sure who I start over Casemiro or McTominay… Heart says McTominay is in form and should play but head says Casemiro…We bought Casemiro to compete in these games and elevate our performances against big opposition but McTominay is playing pretty well at the minute. Do you change a winning team?

I might be the minority, but I genuinely think we have a chance of a good result here. We have the perfect setup to hurt City. They’ll always play high and leave space behind. If we start with 3 out of Sancho, Rashford, Antony, Martial I think we can hurt them.

We’ve been to City before and beaten teams which I think are better than their current one with our teams being worse than our current one.

Eriksen’s passing from deep and Bruno‘s through balls will be the key to success. I’m confident in Varane and Martinez against Haaland.

What recovery? They’re all going away on international break. No doubt we’ll have injury problems by the time this comes about.

Martial recovery from injury....Rashford and Sancho didn't get called up

i'm sure there are a few others as well who might not have matches over the international break

I wouldn’t be hugely surprised to see Casemiro & McTominay play.

Antony or Sancho benched with Bruno moving wide, Eriksen in midfield and Rashford upfront.

    This is half a pre-season!!

    Fekin joke #Mournhub bullshit
I feel its a blessing in disguise, it gives players basically a mini-preseason to get adjusted to his tactics. Casemiro, Ronaldo and Antony can get sharp too.

We'll see how good the team really is against City because that's the benchmark to win a trophy, it'll also help with transfer plans for the winter if there's areas that are needed against a top side it'll show which areas maybe United need for flexibility or strengthening in general.

Crucial that Ronaldo starts and is instructed to stay around the penalty box. Not sure if Martial or Rashford can start after not playing for almost 3 weeks before the City game.

Crucial for who, for City maybe, that’s not the type of game you play Ronaldo, he won’t get a sniff.
