Good presser, sounds like Smalling unfortunately wont make it but De Gea will and it was good to see LvG show faith in Rashford.

    Any new updates on injuries?

    ---------------De Gea
    Varela---Smalling---Blind---Riley
    --------Herrera--Schneiderlin
    Lingard--------Mata-------Memphis
    ---------------Rashford

Hopefully Martial & CBJ can make is as well though.

I just hope Memphisco and Rashfordinho would tear them apart.
If we somehow manage to beat them our top 4 race would be back on for sure.

We can't stop here. This is bat country.
Think people are being a bit too negative.

Can see us dominating the game (I know, I know), and it's just whether we translate that into chances or not.

Arsenal are in pretty shit form. A lot of their big names are off colour.

Mix that in to our generally good performances in big games and I think we can definitely win.

Arsenal will be looking to bounce back after midweek... Keep Sanchez quiet and Ozil will disappear like he usually does... Would love to see Rashford bag a few more goals, think he'll get chances too against their CB's. Memphis wont have the same pace advantage against Bellerin, will have to be a bit more canny on the ball. All in all, looking forward to this match!

Yup. Our record against the big teams is very impressive. Additionally, Arsenal haven't beaten us at OT in the league since 06.

Our defence looks incredibly weak with no Smalling, McNair gives me the jitters.

If he doesn't start, I hope we use one of Fosu-Mensah or Tuanzebe instead.

I think Rojo coming back is a big plus. I know van Gaal said, he has to build him up from 20 to 30 mins, but I am hoping he gives him 60 mins. Depay should retain his place. It's unlikely Martial will return, which means Rashford plays again.
I think we could just about sneak in a win. It'll be a close game though.

The Goons have to be favourites given our injury situation but it would be sweet to put a dent in their title hopes.A great big one!

    Surely Rojo will play
van Gaal said in the presser that he's not ready to start yet and if he plays it'll only be a few minutes from the bench. Besides, I can't imagine he'd want to play two left footers.

I highly doubt LVG will play any of our U21s at CB. They aren't ready for it yet, and neither should they be thrown in like that.

Also CBJ deserves to start if fit. I'd love a return to 4-3-3 with Blind/Schneiderlin/Herrera- would be defensively sound, have some creativity and be quite energetic.

Based on his comment about long term thinking, i.e. not rushing back players from injury, I see a very inexperienced side.

I think Carrick, Smalling and Rojo will be on the bench. Carrick maybe resting for the next game. Rojo on in 2nd half. Think Martial will also be on bench.

So I am going to go for a very weak backline that could get eaten alive if they start off bad.

    DDG

    Varela
    McNair
    Blind
    CBJ

    Morgan
    Herrera

    Lingard
    Mata
    Memphis

    Rashford

Stop Ozil feeding Sanchez half the battle won.

I am wondering whether he switches CBJ for Riley to cater for Bellerive speed.

We win 1 game against the worst team in the EL.
We beat a League 1 side.
And now the most predicted score is MUFC 2 - 1 AFC, which makes no logical sense.
    Lets not forget:
    1. that the last time we played an EPL side, we lost.
    2. our league form is akin to side fighting relegation.
    3. Arsenal are not in League 1 and are too good for the Europe League.

I can't see us winning this, unless Arsenal go down to 9 men (yes, 9 men...that's how bad we are).
Even if Arsenal played the entire game with 10 men, I think we'd lose.
And with regards a draw: I don't think AFC will show us any mercy to allow a draw. If they need to score, they'll up the tempo cut us open and score.
    My prediction 3-1 to AFC.

    Across the Universe....from Old Trafford.
As bad as our situation is, if we sit back and hope to get something on the counter we are dead. We have to attack from the start. Take the fight to them. Our only hope.

Mourinho has a lot of work ahead of him. Three years of gross incompetence has brought us to this. Lots of people have a lot to answer for.

About half of the predictions are Arsenal wins. Only 1/3 predicts a United win which is very low, maybe the lowest this season.

Just out of curiosity, do people prefer Mata over Herrera or Carrick in these games?

That awkward feeling when you want to beat the arse not because we stand any chance of top four finish, but to keep them at bay from Leicester.
