If we can score an early goal, the floodgates might open and we can give them a proper thrashing. Perhaps even as much as 2-0.

No, a proper 4231, with Pogba behind Lukaku

    Lukaku
    Rashford Pogba Mata
    Matic McTominay
That would probably go back and forth from a 433 to a 4231. I'd like to see that same lineup or something close to it. Martial/Rashford on the left I'd like to see for the rest of the season.

I can see 4-0 to Utd here. The players will be let off their leashes.

Here I am with the usual M.E.N. early rumours.

    16:16KEY EVENT
    Early team news rumour
A very early rumour is that Alexis Sanchez and Paul Pogba will start tonight’s game on the bench. Both have performed poorly over the last six weeks or so and many United fans will feel Sanchez’s possible demotion is overdue. A team has not leaked yet and it should be stressed the Sanchez and Pogba line is rumour, for now. If they are both out then it tallies with the feeling at Carrington yesterday that Mourinho is becoming ruthless.

The end of Darmian's United career?
He’s been linked with a move away from Old Trafford in the summer and this could be the day that confirms he’s on his way.

Mourinho didn’t say he was injured in his press conference yesterday so aside from a last minute injury you would have expected him to at least be with the squad today.

But, his wife has been posting pictures on her Instagram page of them out for lunch.

A small chance the game doesn’t go ahead. The weather here is bonkers. Just dropped a big flurry of snow in 5 mins and now back to sun. Can see the top of Stretford End covered in snow now.

Think it is snowing on and off at most games. Poor dears will have to put their tights on.

    I've gone for this:

    De Gea
    Valencia Bailly Lindelof Young
    McTominay Pogba
    Mata Martial
    Lukaku Sanchez
    ...wishful thinking.

If Pogba and Sanchez are on the bench we're probably going with 4231

    ------McTominay--Matic
    Lingard----Mata----Rashford/Martial

Thought this was a 17:30 kickoff damn it. Hoping to see something like:

    Romero
    Young Bailly Smalling Shaw
    McTominay Matic
    Mata Lingard Martial
    Lukaku

Subs: Pereira, Darmian, Lindelof, Carrick, Pogba, Sanchez, Rashford

Pretty much full strength apart from De Gea and Valencia. Wouldn't mind seeing Lindelof or Carrick getting a start, Sanchez and Pogba on the bench would be great news (as long as Pogba doesn't come on).

Pogba isn't a #10 under Mourinho's philosophy. His movement is about going towards the ball, rather than about finding pockets of space between the lines. That's why Lingard and Mkhitaryan have been played there, but Mata hasn't. Sanchez does it a little bit, but he's far from the best at it.

When Mourinho first managed Chelsea, the disruptor role was Lampard's. So it's not so much the formation that's important, it's the fact Jose likes to have somebody behind the striker who pulls defences/midfields around. Rashford's more likely to take it in that lineup.

We really need to score some goals in this one. Maybe it’s just me, but I’m starved for a convincing performance against a team we should beat 10/10.
    This.
Can't remember any comfortable win this year apart from Yeovil.

This wont be an easy game. Many players from Brighton Jose would love to have in his team. They also have more experience in the FA cup the last 7 years than we have.

I would love Jose to throw in some youth today. E.g Chong or Gomez. You could guarantee they would have passion for the shirt and it would lift the atmosphere in what could otherwise be a very quiet Old Trafford.

Last match before an international break so don’t see much resting of anyone though.... really need Sanchez to come to the party.
Oh how I miss the days when we could bully a team like Brighton.....

In the last 7 years they have not got past the 5th round, where as we have won it once and SF a couple of times, how is that more experience ?

United have been eliminated from three of their past four FA Cup quarter-finals, progressing only in 2015-16 against West Ham after a replay. They have not won a quarter-final without the need of a replay since 2010-11 against Arsenal.

Yeah that 2015/16 campaign was incredible from LVG. Beating good sides like Derby, West Ham and Everton before the mighty Palace in the final.

The poor little dears will be playing in their tights & mittens. Personally I would ban this nonsense & make them go out like players did in the past.
