Desperate for some football, a good performance and a win tbh.
What do you guys think our approach will be?
Would to see us bang at the door right from the off.
Think BHA will try to use the current unease to sleep the game down and upset the crowd.

I think Brighton's players will treat this as their Cup final (and so they should).
Their players will be completely up for this.
    Our players....not so sure.

Mourinho's last chance at a trophy and thus, his reasoning for doing a good job. We'll barely do anything and will snake a late 75-90mins goal from a substitute to win 1-0.

That's a strange our for an English game isn't it? Is it due to the 6 nations?

Can't wait to see which version of our Jekyll and Hyde team will turn up tonight.

Require a 4-0 or 5-0 thrashing to make up for the CL exit. Players and manager should get those cojones out for the rest of the campaign.

So after that presumably Jose's playing 4-4-fecking 2?

He's a likeable chap Jose, he gives off a good energy sometimes, but the way the team play often betrays it all. Process, fine. I just wish there was a little more intensity in the team.

Looking forward to this one though.. Didn't massively enjoy the Liverpool match - I sat and watched Liverpool try to play football for an hour and a half, hardly the kind of entertainment one wants - but I hope tonight I get to see US play OUR way.

one thing is for sure the weather is going to play a massive part in this game.
Snow is meant to fall during the whole game and the temp will be-2 feels like -9  with gusting wind.
I feel an ugly scrappy game coming up.
I very much doubt the game is in any danger of being called off, but OMG it going to be a cold one.

I'm about 30 miles always but already like that over here this morning. Snow has been coming down in bursts (though quite fierce) and it is freezing cold.

Just getting some of the pessimistic things out of the way first...

I think the ground will be far from full. Some due to the UCL exit, some due to the weather, some due to the fact it's 'only' Brighton. All excuses I feel are unjustified, but it's part and parcel of the modern fan I suppose. Hopefully the trial singing section for this game can give us a bit of a boost, but if we aren't playing exciting football in the first 30 minutes I'd expect it to fall very much flat.

The Sanchez situation is what is really, really annoying me, however. It just doesn't make a great deal of sense to me, in terms of how we're trying to play. We have Rashford and Martial who are excelling from the left and they're not going to play up front because we have Lukaku. They're not as effective from the right, we've seen that. It is pretty much proven. Mata and Lingard sometimes play from the right, but they're not wingers and are more effective through the middle. We lack a right winger / right forward, but continually try to use Sanchez in the two positions where we have 4-5 players who have been at least better than what he has shown in said positions. Why can't a top class, Premier League proven attacking player, who has played there successfully before, go and make the one attacking position in our squad that's up for grabs, his own? Also, apparently Pogba can't play in a 2-man midfield... If Sanchez plays at No.10, that means we don't play Pogba. If Sanchez plays from the left, that probably means we don't play Martial/Rashford (could be moved to the right, but it isn't as good if we look at past experience). So, to me it seems that if we want to get our supposedly 'best' players into one system, it would need to be this:

    de Gea
    Valencia Bailly Smalling Young
    Matic
    Herrera Pogba
    Sanchez Lukaku Martial

    * Some players are debatable obviously.. Smalling, Young, Herrera, Martial/Rashford, Mata or Lingard currently in better from than some etc. But, I think if we want to get Pogba, Sanchez, Lukaku, and Martial/Rashford into one system, if we assume they are our best attacking players, then this is surely the only option? Lukaku up front, Martial/Rashford from the left, Pogba in a three... Sanchez fills a problem position and doesn't need to be dropped because there's no real 'competition' for the role. Mata and Lingard can replace Herrera instead, or we play Fellaini/McTominay, we have options. My point is, this needs to be settled now or were going to end up without any silverware and finish 3rd or 4th. Some will still see this as an improvement on last season, but I personally don't think it'd be enough of an improvement.

As for today's game, just go for them. Our players are far superior to theirs, show a bit of something and wallop them. Play the above with Mata/Lingard over Herrera, maybe Rashford on the left. I'm saying 3-0 with a good performance and I hope we go all-out in this competition now. At least aim to be the most successful FA Cup side again!

Weather sucks today. Hopefully the snow doesn’t turn into a full blizzard and get the game cancelled. The wind is ridiculous. It is difficult to walk. Gonna be a cold night in the stands!

Probably not time for experiments, and we should probably try it in the league, as it looks likely we'll finish in the top four, but I would like to see a 4231, with Pogba tried as a number 10.

Get him behind Lukaku, with Matic and McTominay behind providing a foil for the attacking quartet.

It was for me when it last snowed a couple of weeks ago! With the council digging a giant hole right outside our house, our pipes got frozen and we had no water for 9 days! Now, though, I'm loving it. Hope it snows during the game, too

A lot of time today to drink before kick off that's for sure.

Staying inside the pub on a cold as hell day like this sounds good.

Struggling to find any excitement for this game after Tuesday's disgrace. If we reach the final we'll meet a "big team", no doubt Jose will shit his pants and set us up super cowardly, and lose us the game.

Did you watch the games vs Chelsea and Liverpool recently? Irrespective of the results, both games were thuroughly entertaining and engaging.
Both games weren't perfect although we won. Against Chelsea we were awful first half and lucky to be level. Against Liverpool I didn't enjoy the way we parked the bus in the 2nd half and gave the initiative to them. I was praying for the game to end at 80 minutes. We are capable of blowing teams away but choose not to do so. If we'd played against Liverpool the same way we did in the 1st half throughout the game we could've put 3/4 goals past them.

    Somewhere they can't find me.
Think I'll skip this one, have to wake up 1.30 am and god knows which United will turn up. If it's another drab affair or even worse a defeat, won't be able to get any sleep later and a foul mood for sunday. Better to wake up in the morning and have a look at the score.

I know, that was more a post about what our strongest side is if we want to get Sanchez, Lukaku, Pogba and Martial/Rashford, if you read the post haha

I said at the bottom same team but Mata / Lingard for Herrera.
Mata/Lingard in the same position, as a centre midfielder, or would you change formation?

We really need to score some goals in this one. Maybe it’s just me, but I’m starved for a convincing performance against a team we should beat 10/10.

    No Shaw, Darmian and Carrick.

"M.E.N. photographers did not spot Matteo Darmian, Luke Shaw or Michael Carrick among the arrivals but it is understood a couple of players arrived at United's pre-match base on Friday night. Shaw tends to rendezvous separately at The Lowry."

We will lose because of Football Heritage.
if we win, that's still not saying much, it's Brighton, even sinking Everton won them comfortably. Unless we have decent performances until the end of this season with proper results as the sign of being highly motivated, i will forever consider that press conference as unacceptable madness
