Lindelof not on bench. Reckon he might be leaving? Saw some speculation about clubs being interested in him?

Not sure why Donny makes the bench and Iqbal doesn't? Hierarchy is nonsensical when we could see in pre season that Iqbal is clearly better.
I'd say savage is better as well to be fair. Donny has fell off a cliff that he can't seem to climb back up.

Laurie Whitwell being interviewed in the pre-match build up, had me thinking Lisandro Martinez has dressed weird for the occasion and has banging English.

Quite possible he's just rated by ETH as his #4 CB after Varane when Varane is fit. Bailly and Jones would likely leave before Lindelof, I'd say.

I think Mcfred will be starting for UTD till the day I die.
Think its just inevitable that we will never be rid of this pairing.
Lets hope Erikson can somehow make them look great or ETH can work some magic tactically.
    Wont hold my breath

If we’re struggling, do you think it’s realistic that garnacho comes on for Mctom/Fred? Eriksen moves back into CDM and Bruno moves into the middle behind rashford giving Garnacho that left side?

Seems more attractive than just lumping grumpy ronaldo on and watching him walk around throwing his arms up in despair.
Absolutely see Mctominay getting brought off when needed with Garnacho coming on and Sancho wide on other side.

Why are they wearing that horrible strip? Do we have a special warm up strip?

Ya definitely possible and probably likely tbf. Just found it interesting. Definitely think Bailly is off. Jones, we'll see, depends if we can sell him to DC United I think, don't see any other club coming in for him.

Wonder if its Bruno or Marcus up front! Clear to me that Bruno may not be seen as Erik's first choice central player.

    Down south...somewhere
    McFred

Ffs it never ends. This isn't a moan because I'm confident we'll win today but fecking hell man....
We didn't sign anyone who could replace them just yet...give it time. Rome wasn't built in a day and we've hopefully fixed one part of the defence and got Eriksson who is great at set pieces / interchanging with Bruno.

    Enjoy the match

I agree. True our players are not the best, but also not as bad as people make it seem, it’s crazy how much coaching is underrated nowadays, especially since our transfer business haven’t been great. With that being said, I do worry about the squad depth, but that’s another topic.
Completely agree with you about the importance of coaching, as long as the players listen and carry it out when under pressure.
Teamwork teamwork teamwork is all I ask. Oh and a win of course.

Glad to see Martinez getting a start. Dalot :D

Interested to see how Bruno and Eriksen link up. The only thing you would say this lineup really lacks is some proper pace/explosive running, but maybe Rashford might provide that? Good to see Ronaldo doesn’t automatically return to the lineup as well.

Best possible team we could've put out. I'm far from confident though, Brighton have so much energy.

I was so delighted when last season ended, the Ragnick era made me hate football.

I'm still not really ready for the start of this new season, expectations are at rock bottom.

Ten Hag: "Who will play in Ronaldo's position? It can be Bruno. But most of the time it will be Christian Eriksen. He's really good at playing in that role."

Precisely. we were never going to start Garner or Iqbal over two full internationals.

We should be selling him (or Maguire, whichever) Donny, AWB and Elanga. Lindelof easily worth 50m, 20 each for the other three, that's a striker and winger right there.

Garner & Garnacho on the bench.
Ronaldo benched to have a chance to impress.
    Eriksen staring together with Bruno.

    This feels fresh.

How did he get on when he was on loan last season ? I naturally gave up following football last season so have no idea, did he stink up the place at everton as well ?
Decent first game against Leeds, scrapped away against City, awful away from home, injured, tap in on last day of the season in a 5-1 loss.

    He was average at best.

Err, since when is Eriksen a striker?
