Can we afford to rest Pogba?
No. He's absolutely integral to the way we play. Without him, we are nowhere near as good. The only time he should be rested is by taking him off, if we are winning comfortably or if its a meaningless game.

We need to keep this momentum going and treat every game, against every opponent as a must win.

Herrera gets a cheeky break here. Otherwise it feels good to know we now have 6 functioning attacking players that we can comfortably call upon. Attacking football makes it easier for attacking players to play well - who thought?

I like the look of that. Would like to see how it works, otherwise bring on Messe Lingard.

That last part renders your entire post redundant. History means nothing when it involves Moyes, LVG and Merinho.

They'll be tired from the City game and to be honest, if we win by less than three goals I'll be disappointed. That's how spoilt we've become with Ole.

I really hope to see Dalot, Fred and Pereira stealing the show.
What happens in 1921 of course means nothing - but I think it's fun to look at stuff like this to see how it used to be. It still puzzles me that our biggest bogey-team in the early Ferguson-days actually was Norwich. I think they beat us 5 times in a row in the late 80s. But that could possibly be one of the reasons why we signed 2 of their players (Bruce and Phelan)

I really hope Ole keeps the diamond so every player gets to play in their best positions. Lingard is not the most effective on the right and we usually have little threat from there when we play a 433.

Really need to rotate some of that midfield three. Fred or Pereira should be more than good enough for these lot.

I think Ole would bring him off after around 60 minutes if we were say 3-0 up, perhaps Pereira, or even Garner to replace him. Think Ole has to play someone there sooner or later as Pogba won't play every game from now on. Ideally there should be a direct replacement for each position.

Don't understand all the rotation everyone wants.
Strongest line up for me with Baily back in for Jones.
It's the run of fixtures, really.

Matic and Herrera will need to play every game in the run of Leicester (A), Fulham (A), PSG (H), Liverpool (H), Crystal Palace (A), Southampton (H)*, PSG (A), Arsenal (A), Man City (H)** up until March 16th.

*Southampton is a game where we can probably rest Herrera or Matic.
** Will probably be rescheduled unless we both lose in the next round of the FA Cup, which could give us a big chance to make changes if we get a favourable tie.

Matic looks leggy in the second half of games at the best of times, while Herrera seemingly statistically covers the most ground in our team every game. If you look at that run of fixtures, I'd want Matic/Herrera/Pogba as a three in all of them except Burnley and Southampton where I think we can afford to rest one or two. The forwards and full backs are being rotated enough through either starting games or making substitutions in games, but Matic and Herrera are playing the full 90 minutes more often than not.

This is the only area people are wanting changes for and only in this one game for now, as we should thump Burnley whilst making a few changes. eg. de Gea, Dalot, Jones, Fred, Mata, Rashford, and Martial to start which is actually 7 changes from the Arsenal game but would you say it'd be a much weaker 11?

Maybe rest Matic for Fellaini in an "easy" game like this.

All Mou's players looked knackered during this phase the past seasons when Fergie's teams were at their best from winter and on. Many games in a short period of time, and rotation very important.

    Dalot
    Lindelof
    Bailly
    Shaw

    Fred
    Herrera

    subs:
    Romero

Fellaini is injured for a few weeks yet.

A cnut punt into the sun would be nice.

This season City put 5 past them twice, Liverpool 3, Everton 5, Chelsea 4, Arsenal 3.

Rashford and Martial will start, not sure about Jlings as he played 88 mins on Friday, but I don't think Sanchez or Lukaku will start so yeah probably him.

Maybe Fred gets the nod over Herrera, probably still Pogba and Matic.

Maybe Dalot gets a go at RB because Burnley only scored 23 this season.

I might actually be more interested in the bench than the 11 for this game.

Preferably I would opt for our recent balanced 11.Too many changes and it could become a scrappy affair, though I still expect the 3 points.

Hoping for a game for dalot and Fred. Martial and rashford starting should take care of the attacking side of the game for us and the defence is also pretty sorted.

Our midfield dependence on matic, Herrera and pogba seems like a bit of a worry though.

Satellite channels in blue. I have to say this is one of the worst international coverages of a United monday night Premier League match I can ever recall. Two satellite channels in the whole of Europe, and minor ones at that? Lucky we're slightly more popular in the Middle East and Thailand.

City has literally four or five times more channels showing their game. This must be causing pandemonium on Ed's spreadsheets.

I think Lindelof should get some rest too. Perhaps rest Matic and Lindelof this game and try to sub out Herrera if we've settled the game around 70th minute.

We need to rest players over these next two games before PSG.

Maybe could take Pogs, Lingard and Ander out for this one. One of the full backs too.

Lingard and Herrera will almost definitely get rotated for Fred and mata/lukaku/sanchez IMO, same with Dalot in at fullback. Pogba should start though, it's not like he's been overused this season. With Ole it's been mostly one game a week too, nothing excessive. Ideally we can get a few goals up in the first half and bring on Pereira for him for the second half.

How on Earth might Fred step up when he doesn't play at all? I mean, give him at least half a chance (that is, not a sub cameo for 5 minutes, but a longer stint with good players around) and then slate... There is no reason to believe he will be shit if given a start alongside Pogba and Matic/Herrera, we need at least try - and why not against Burnley?
Ole hasn't picked him for a reason. I think we start Mctominay, and Fred, and if they get overrun, or simply do not play well, then we bring on the better players. We are in form, and at home against a team that do not travel too well. Surely those two can at least compete against that.

Their unbeaten run may have recently come to an end, but let's not overestimate these long ball pricks - they're in 16th 3 points outside the relegation zone.

I doubt McTominay is going to play as he's back playing with the under 23s again.

Looking forward to see Fred again. And perhaps Sanchez in the front line with Martial and Rashford. On paper our best and most dangerous attack.

My preferred line-up with a few aging players and hard workers getting a rest.

Tough call on the front 3. No question about Rashford, but it is who is the most deserving out of Lingard, Sanchez and Martial. Ice dropped Lingard as I reckon Burnley will play very defensively after the weekend spanking by State Aid

    De Gea

    Dalot, Lindelof, Bailley, Shaw

    Fred, Herrera, Pogba

    Sanchez, Rashford, Martial

    Subs
Romero, Darmian, Mctom, Lingard, Perreira, Lukaku, Greenwood

This is what years of chop and change has done to you, you now think continuation = dependence.

We have dropped points in last 2 games vs Burnley. 0-0 in 2016-17 and 2-2 in 2017-18. No more silly mistakes, should win this without much problems going by our form.

Regardless anything, I am so happy to be waiting our next game and feeling so much excited about it. I reckon that had not happened any time post SAF. But only started to feel something right with Ole finally, God may it continues. Let's go full strength and get the 3 points and keep moving.

Be interesting to see who partners Lindelof considering how dangerous then can be on set-pieces and long balls (it's all they've got to be honest)

    De Gea
    Dalot Bailly Lindelof Shaw
    Matic
    Herrera Pogba
    Lingard Rashford Martial

Could swap Dalot for Young. Still think we need to tread carefully with Sanchez, and starting him twice within the space of 5 days might be too much so would like to bring him on in the last 30 mins. Could really do with giving 1 or 2 of the midfield a rest but don't think he'll risk it.

Or maybe Ole will rest Lindelof completely, pair Jones and Bailly and have the available again Smalling on the bench.

    Would go for this line-up:

    De Gea
    Dalot - Lindelof - Jones - Shaw
    Herrera - Matic
    Pogba
    Sanchez - Rashford - Martial

I think Young should get a rest and then play away at Leicester on Sunday. Same with Lingard, who I feel is typically much more effective in away games, than when we are up against very defensive sides at home. I think Sanchez should be given the chance to build on his positive performance against Arsenal - we will never see his best level if he does not get a run of games to build confidence and fitness.

Would be happy with any type of win in this game - Burnley are in good form.

Cant believe they decided to put the Newcastle v City game on the tv here. F*king idiots.
Same here. Gonna have to look for a stream despite paying about €30 a month extra to get all available footy on TV here. Fecking hate the way TV is set up with different rights in different countries etc. Luckily we do get to see the Leicester game on Sunday.

Would be happy with some light rotation given the fixtures we have coming up. In recent years we've seen some terrible examples of rotation either the full team swap, were the players look like strangers because there is zero continuity. Or the constant chopping and changing, were we don't know our strongest XI and players are terrified of making mistakes because they know they can be dropped.

Under Sir Alex we used rotation perfectly. It would keep the team and players fresh as well as keeping squad players match fit and motivated. Under Ole we know 10 of our strongest 11, so could see him employing a similar strategy as his old mentor, especially against a bottom half side at Old Trafford.

Personally I'd like to see Fred in for Herrera or Sanchez in for Lingard, but no more than this.
