I hope we get to see Pellistri tonight. Whatever the issues are with him, at least let's see for ourselves.

I remember when Charlton were in the Prem. Wow. Feels like yesterday!
I can remember that FA Cup tie in 94 when Schmeichel was sent off and got suspended for League Cup Final which cost us domestic treble

Wasn't it Charlton where Ruud left the ground before the game in 06 when told he wasn't gonna be in the squad.

However on a positive one we beat them 4-0 to pile the pressure on Arsenal in 03 and they cracked at home to Leeds next day.

An almost second 11 should be winning a game against a side 12 in the third division comfortably?
    Butland
    Dalot (because he needs minutes)
    Maguire
    Martinez (because he needs minutes)
    Malacia
    Mctominay
    Zidane
Eriksen (I'll wouldn't start him vs City)
    Pellistri
    Elanga
    Garnacho

Rashford on standby just in case.

Should give Butland a game and quite a lot of youth. Let Garnacho have a full 90

We can rotate and still play a strong team. Latter stages of a cup competition so we should be going pretty strong.

    -------------------------------------------------------Butland------------------------------------------------
    Dalot-----------------------------Lindelof----------------------Maguire----------------------------Malacia
    ---------------------------------------Mctom-----------------------Fred--------------------------------------
    Anthony---------------------------------------------Eriksen---------------------------------------------Garnacho
    ---------------------------------------------------------Elanga---------------------------------------------------

Hopefully manage to get Eriksen / Anthony off after about 50 minutes.

    De Gea
    AWB - Lindelof - Martinez - Malacia
    McTominay - Fred
    Antony - Eriksen - Garnacho
    Martial

Little shocked by some of the predicted teams. Don't see why we would risk Butland, he's been at the club a few days and De Gea wasn't at the world cup, I don't see why he needs rested. I think Martinez needs minutes, so don't know why he wouldn't play. Antony I think has been a little off the boil since the world cup and we don't have much cover in attack so would start him. Wouldn't be shocked to see Dalot for similar reasons.

#10 is a problem for this one. I'd start any of DvB, Sancho, Amad or Mejbri ahead of Eriksen to give him a rest, but non are available for different reasons. Could possibly go with Iqbal and play Fred further forward like that time he played well there for 10 minutes. I don't think I'd trust Mainoo there yet, but hope to see him at some point if we are leading.

Up top is between Rashford and Martial as we don't have anyone else. It will probably be 60/30 either way. I'd give Martial the nod, just because he is better suited to that position.
Because back up keeps need match experience so if they have to come in if De Gea gets injured, they don't come in cold.

Just tried to look to see who’s showing it but it appears no one on the world! That must be a first surely for a United game.
Bein sports is showing it in the gulf, I get it as part of my sky Sports package in NZ.

Was thinking the same. Is it on TV in other parts of the world I wonder.
Of course it is. You won’t ever find a United game not televised outside of UK.

All 380 league games and almost all cup matches are televised. The only exception is the very early cup rounds where there are too many games at the same time so they might choose not to televise games featuring lower league dross.

Ah I knew that really. Was just hoping someone would pop up a suggestion like Rake did to make life easier for those awful people who look for streams.

I think Martinez and Dalot could do with the minutes today and Martial and Antony should play in order to pick up some form and confidence.

How the feck they gonna not televise a quarter final? Wankers.
I'm just sick of not being able to watch what I want in the modern day.

It's so dumb that with all this technology there's a game like this not being shown in it's own country - but yet the rest of the world can.

    FA dinosaurs.

Anyone thinks this will be easy is deluded. Charlton will be very difficult to break down with a 5-4-1

we need to play rashford anthony and garnacho to wriggle through their defence with some playmakers behind them And that aint mcfred.
rotate them out when we are winning. We wont beat city anyway.

I’d go with something like this, give Martinez 60 minutes or so because he needs game time, the same with Dalot even if it means playing him left back. I’d rather rest Eriksen but with Bruno suspended and Donny injured we don’t really have anyone else to play in the 10. Martial could do with a goal.

Lot's of talk about rotation, have a feeling we will see Casemiro, Varane, Rashford all start.

It's mind boggling. A cup QF and every country seems to be showing this live bar the country where that the team is from!
The only justification I can think of is that they want people to focus on the all PL clash.

That said, it's a weak justification. British football broadcasting needs a big shake up.

I'd be amazed if any of them start. If Ole was in charge, sure, but I think ETH isn't reckless. Besides, we've Fred, McTominay, Maguire, Lindelof all needing match fitness. And Rashford the golden goose will be on the bench and likely not used unless it's a bit of a calamity.

Why the won't? One off games anything is possible. Have beaten them previous season and Liverpool in poor form and Brentford have beaten them this season.

It won't be easy especially with a number of expected changed will be made to the starting 11 tonight and Charlton knocked Brighton out in the last round.

I'm assuming Curbishley is still in charge of them and that we should be particularly wary of Jason Euell and Jonatan Johansson?

I'm really hoping not to see Zidane or Pellistri in the team tonight.

I really can't see why we'd risk them for a QF, when they've not even got any minutes as subs so aren't really trusted, and when we've got the likes of Antony and Martial who need to find some form and end product, and when we're already missing Fernandes and could easily pick Eriksen, when we'll have the ball a lot tonight, and a more mobile player like Fred v City when we'll be ball chasing a lot.

Leaving the likes of Varane, Shaw, Casimero, Rashford on the bench makes sense - they could do with a rest and we have first team players to replace them.

But bringing in much more risky replacements - Iqbal, Pellistri, Elanga - when we've got first team attacking options like Antony and Martial who could do with the confidence boost of producing some end product, just seems like changes for changes sake and unnecessarily risking the result and increasing the chances we'll need to revert to Rashford, Casimero, Shaw later in the game.

I definitely think the best balance for rotating / still picking a strong team, is...

    De Gea
    AWB - Maguire - Martinez - Malacia
    McTominay - Fred
    Eriksen
    Antony - Martial* - Garnacho

*At worst, start with Elanga for first 45 minutes then, if not winning at HT, bring Martial on then for the whole of the second half.

Scored 2 bicycle kick goals in one match, not many have done that, maybe Andy Cole did?

    We shouldn't underestimate Clive Mendonca.
