They're just as shit as us on occasion so it's all to play for in my eyes.

Can that be considered a momentum ? If I were them I would be heavily disappointed.
They were better than a team that is yet to lose a game in LaLiga. If they could do that to Barca, they can easily put up a display like that tomorrow. I know that I am pessimistic, but there is nothing to be positive about. We play shite football, have problems in the final third, and we were battered by a Sevilla team that lost to Eibar 5-1. I'd love to be proven wrong, however. Maybe our team will show up, but I am not expecting much from the upcoming game.

At the end they got a bad result, and the draw was because of terrible defensive mistake. Barca are the ones who left the pitch content about the result. Chelsea players should be feeling pretty disappointed getting such a result after all their efforts in the game.

Even though the result favours Barca, I wouldn't write Chelsea off. Yes, that simple mistake at the back cost them a lot, but at the same time Barca was hitting a brick wall for the majority of the game. Besides, I think it shows how clinical and ruthless Barca is, if it takes only one defensive mistake to score. I don't think we could do that, because we are not forcing the errors on our opponents.

I didn't write Chelsea off, but what I'm saying is I don't really see their players very happy about such a result after such efforts. The game is on.

Good thing this one is a home game.. if this is an away game I'll be pessimistic about our chances, I hate stamford bridge :nervous:
At Old Trafford, it is winnable.
I reckon Conte will set Chelsea to play defensive similar to their performance against Barca.

Lose it and the shite hits the fan. I am hoping for a Jose masterclass, but expecting a dull and ugly play by us. How the mighty have fallen.

Their best performance of the season was against us at Stamford Bridge. Hopefully, it's gonna stay that way. I thought they were exceptional value for money that day, particularly Hazard.

Must win, especially since Liverpool are now second. That was always our end game this season to consolidate second spot that we were clear in. Now we really are watching our backs.

Love the optimism, would love us to batter them.

Truth is we will sit deep whilst they have the ball, Lukaku will be ineffective again.

Kante will put Pogba in his pocket and Jose will waste a player to just run around and harass Hazard.

    0-2

    Love your pessimism though.

We are all apprehensive due to our form in recent weeks, but it will be nowhere near as easy for Chelsea as that. Especially at OT. Have some faith, jeez.

I agree it is a must win , but I cant see past a draw.
Negative I know and even worse being at home, just think our form right now is shite, hope I am wrong.
With the way we are playing mate, I’d take a draw right now :(

Strange feeling about this one. Honestly can't say why but I think we could well play a blinder tomorrow and win three nil. The Caf consequently will erupt in a new wave of optimism which in turn could unfortunately prove to be yet another false dawn.

I have only seen one post predicting we'll win. Personally, I have no idea what will happen. That's why I don't bet on football.
Neither do I, but the balance of probabilities and history suggests my post is more than likely to be correct.

I'm going to be bold and say we'll score in the first half but still lose. 3-1 Chelsea.

What is your post? I imagine you assume we'll lose. If so put money on it. You get good odds as the bookmakers take an opposite view to you.

For once we need Lukaku/ Pogba/ Sanchez to turn up in a big game for us. It's all well and good looking world class and smashing a few past Yeovil but it's stages like this that define a player. So far each of them have flattered to deceive (maybe a little harsh on Sanchez since he's only been here a month).

It's often these games when pessimism peaks that we win. The 3-1 vs Arsenal when Rashers scored a brace springs to mind.
Exactly. And many other examples too, not least of all when we beat Chelsea 2-0 in this exact fixture last year!

And was 3-2 vs. Arsenal. Possibly my favourite match under LVG

Why not? We always draw with them! Our 2-0 win in the same fixture last season was only our first win against Chelsea since 2012's 2-3 win at the Bridge in the FA cup. We even drew with them twice at their worst in that season when they finished tenth! With that said, if we reproduce the form we showed when we played them last season we should win this comfortably.
Because I think city and Liverpool would beat us comfortably right now and I don’t think Chelsea could

Probably the most pessimistic i've been about a home game since LVG. I can't see where a win is going to come from the way the players are currently performing.

Let's be real here. Our attack isn't going to find the fluidity or potency to dominate decent opposition overnight. If we need to park the bus to get a result, so be it.

If you want attacking football hire a new manager but till then let the current one get results the way he best knows how. Not worth risking top 4 trying to get him to adopt an unfamiliar style

We need a manager to turn up first and foremost the players will follow.

Chelsea have not been great lately and we beat them fair and square at Old Trafford last year so I am quite positive about this one. Think it'll be 2-0 or 3-0 to us.
When is the last time you guys beat us by more than 2 goals? Amazingly optimistic

I don't agree with this because United took a very pragmatic approach against City at home but once they scored we suddenly played real football and caused them problems. The second goal just knocked their confidence. I blame Mourinho

I think we'll start well, play with purpose and intent - for about 10 minutes. After that we'll sit deeper and deeper and the game will deteriorate into a low quality, scrappy, frustrating affair.

Well the City game was a most bizzare instance of pragmatism even for Jose's standards. We actually went into that game with the intention of having our defenders hoof it to Lukaku from the first minute. We're going to play hoofball tomorrow, just not to the extent we did in the City game.

Attacking Tottenham at Wembley and Chelsea at the bridge saw us outclassed and beaten. At least when we play pragmatic we manage to eek out something like Liverpool away, arsenal away and Tottenham at home even if luckily. He's been more successful being pragmatic than attacking. He's better at the former than the latter
