Hate this shoehorning of Rooney...Just because we play one CM won't make us more attacking...infact trust me we wont have any rhythm to our game.

Ahhh feck it....just waiting for the season to end.

    Strange Line-up.
    DDG
    Valencia -- Smalling -- Blind -- Darmian
    Schneiderlin
    Lingard--Rooney
    Mata--Rashford--Martial
I think a 4-3-3 is possible. Lingard covering for Mata on the right side if needed or swapping.

Sometimes van Gaal overcomplicates things. I think he either wanted to fit Mata, Martial, Rashford, Rooney into a decent team (Like how he tried to do with Rooney, van Persie, Falcao), or like many here think, it's a Rooney-Schneiderlin midfield after van Gaal was impressed with those diagonals passes.

Good team, but I was hoping to see TFM start ahead of Valencia. The latter assisted the winner against Villa, though, so I guess his inclusion is justified.

Wanted a few players rested for this. Saturday is the biggest game of the season. Hope LvG knows what he's doing by playing this team just 3 days before Everton.

Rooney in midfield. How many floaty cross field balls to Valencia are we going for? I'm being conservative and going for 75.

It is probably our normal 4-2-3-1 with Rooney and Schneiderlin at the base, Lingard in the middle, Mata out right and Rashford/Martial in their usual positions.

But knowing LvG they're probably being "rested" because he doesn't want to play them. They can't possibly need rest.
If anyone should rest in a game against a Palace team who focus everything on their FA Cup game on sunday, it's Rashford and Martial(again). I'm unhappy about this lack of rotation and hope it won't cost us on saturday.

To be honest, we have to get Top 4 at all costs. It doesn't make sense to rotate and put up a relatively weaker squad with just a few more games left to the season. Some of the inclusions like Lingard etc are clearly tactical.

Normally the official line up gets the order spot on in terms of formation, usually the 4 defenders, 2 cm, 3 am and the cf with the formation we normally play, but even dating back to the old 3-5-2. Looking at that order, I have no clue on the formation.

    Morgan - Rooney
    Mata - Lingard - Martial
    Rashford

Is how I think it'll be
    Thats my thinking as well.

Though knowing LVG, Rashford will probably be in a midfield two with Rooney and Schneiderlin will be up front.

Going by that logic, it appears it will be Lingard and Schneidy in the midfield 2 and Rooney as the No 10.

Playing a half fit Rooney in midfield is not a very good idea unless if we keep the ball better. Even when fully fit he is not the best of markers, lazy to track back

But we should be good enough to win 2-0

Are we going to try that 4141 formation bayern have used a few times this season?
    ...................Schneiderlin....................
    Lingard.....Mata.....Rooney......martial
    .....................rashford.......................
Looks like being a busy night for Schneiderlin if we are...

That midfield 3 looks well short but at least Rojo has finally been dropped.
    Thats something to rejoice about.

Would have liked to have seen TFM be his replacement though. He deserves it more than Darmian in recent weeks I would say.

Wow.. Couldn't predict that midfield. Rather he just dropped Mata.

What a time of the season to experiment with fitting Wayne Rooney into the team.

The Rooney fan boys will love this. Anything to accommodate Sir Rooney at the expense of more deserving players. Have no fear, he is our Messi. May he sign a new deal for another 10 years.
