With Greenwood and Tuanzebe starting, not sure we'll see another youth player starting too.

Love to see Gomes in there though. Fingers crossed. At least give him half an hour.

Slid my shift from 4pm-midnight to 11am-7pm to catch this. If Gomes only gets 5 minutes at the end I'll be livid.

With the injury problems, doubt we can play many first team players today, we need them all ready for game vs West Ham.

So hope to see Gomes a bit, Chong for more than 10 mins, Greenwood, but especially Jesse Lingard.

Heard that this young player is amazing...
Lingard is showing a lot of promise in training and hopefully he can mature into a top class senior player for us, in the next 3-5 years.

Ole probably needs a trophy this season to secure his position for another year. I think he’s untouchable this year but a trophy would stop any immediate pressure and be hugely positive.
Yes a European trophy, the UEFA Cup would be an enormous endorsement for Solskjaer, and would hand us automatic CL qualification too.
It's a big, big prize for us in my opinion.

I’ll settle for Tuanzebe, Greenwood and one of Chong/Gomes starting.

Williams and Garner better be on the bench.

Squad players and youngsters should really be looking to make the most of this opportunity. Fred and Tuanzebe badly need minutes.

Right now I'm really looking forward to the game, but I know that will end as soon as the team sheets are released :(

Excited for tonight! I am hoping to see Gomes start too.

And maybe one of the youngsters can earn a start vs West Ham.

We'll not be writing off the europa league by playing a team of kids. I think we'll see 3 tops. Likely tuanzebe, greenwood and maybe gomes or chong. Can't see anyone else starting though.

Watch lingard start tonight, score against this weak opposition and then that will bye him another 10 games in the starting line up in the premier league without once again scoring or making any assists.

I'm not saying it's a write off or we will play team full of kids. I said we should be playing more than 2 players as we have many injuries.

Tuanzebe and Greenwood are confirmed starters, maybe at least one more either Chong or Gomes.

Apart from that we have few senior players who need games, like Jones, Rojo, Fred. So yeah it should be mix of senior players who needs games and also young players.

    I think we will play

Romero; Dalot Tuanzene Jones Rojo; Fred Matic; Greenwood Gomes Lingard; Rashford.

I'd say that team is close enough to what we'll see but I'm very doubtful he'll start Gomes. He didn't even give him a start in pre-season and when he brought him on it was on the wing.

There's a fair bit of clamour for Gomes to be the starting number 10 but I don't remember Ole ever playing him there, has he?

Yeah, don't think he played as 10 for first team, so it might be Lingard with Gomes starting or coming on as LW.

I know you didn't mean that, what i meant was to play half a team of youngsters would be crazy if we're not chucking this competition in the bin. I hope gomes starts just to see him, but thats it greenwood and tuanzebe aside.

Why can’t we play a bunch of youngsters and win comfortably?

Arsenal won 3-0 in Ukraine last season with a very, very weak and inexperienced team of squad players and youth.

We’re at home. They have no real standout players. They’re not even the best team in their league. And they will likely be nervous playing in front of such a big crowd.

Even if we only draw the game, there are 5 games left and we’ll have learned more about the mentality of the squad.

That's insane, have you far to travel or is it that the traffic is horrific?
both! about 90 miles and a fight to get through the stupid Dartford Crossing (fortunately I don't have to make the trip every day of every week). I once worked out I could get from London to Wolverhampton quicker!

But with Greenwood up top, we need 3 players for LW, RW and AM. Lingard will play but will only take one slot, there are 2 more (hopefully for Chong AND Gomes).

    Think it'll be:
    Romero
    Dalot
    Jones
    Tuanzebe
    Rojo
    Fred
    Matic
    Lingard
    Gomes
    Chong
    Greenwood

Plenty of experienced heads along with the young attacking trio and Dalot and Tuanzebe. Plus a strong bench should things go south.

would be perfectly happy with that and just can't see how anyone could think that wouldn't be enough to beat freaking Astana at OT. Then hopefully get garner on for matic or fred somewhere around the 60 minute mark with us a couple goals ahead. We have 2 Argentine internationals, 2 English internationals, a Brazilian international player, and a Serbian international in that lineup and yet people still are acting like we can't play more than 2 freaking youngsters or they will be overwhelmed.

Mata will start ahead of Gomes, but that's pretty much spot on.

Wouldn't be surprised to see Rashford start either.

The other thread is the Europa League general thread, it's just that someone put our fixture in the title which confused everyone.
