Can’t remember ever feeling this pessimistic about a United game. Liverpool haven’t started the season particularly well yet we’re still miles apart in terms of where the two clubs are.
Fully accept that Ten Hag has a huge job and it will take a long time, perhaps a couple of years, to turn this ship around. Tomorrow’s result won’t really change that.
That being the case I’m just hoping we don’t get thumped again. Confidence is so low I fear an early Pool goal is all it would take to break us. The other fear is they might not even have to work for it; we’re giving goals away at the minute.
To get the three points I think we’ll need a keeper who refuses to be beat, an organised and resolute defence, a tenacious midfield who rarely gives the ball away and a strike force that buries what few chances come our way. Pains me to say it but we’re sorely lacking in all those departments.
Yikes, glad it’s not me giving the team talk. Come on United, do us all a favour and pull a minor miracle out the bag.
