If we are to contend for the title this season, these are the sort of games we have to somehow find a way to win. And its at home. No excuses.

    schneiderlin must start.
    DDG
    Darmian
    Smalling
    Jones
    Rojo
    Schneiderlein
    Fellaini
    Herrera
    Mata
    Martial
    Rooney

Dont want Rooney to start, he needs to be dropped but he wont be. Fellaini was superb against City last time out and we need his physicality and with him Morgan and Herrera we would have more energy.

Can't see us getting anything out of this game. And no in ain't a reaction from the game last night. City just look a complete squad. Going for an away 3-1 win.

I know Rooney won't be dropped but if we constantly pray for a miracle, it might happen.

Mata and Blind in I think, but other than that it will be the same team as tonight barring injuries.

I would love it, absolutely love it, if for once we benched Rooney and see how well we attacked without his poor touch & lack of pace hampering us in the final third.

The following team could be a good option:

    DDG

    Darmian, Smalling, Jones, Blind

    Schneiderlin, Carrick, Herrera

    Mata, Martial, Memphis

Sadly, this will never happen as de kaptain mush alwaysch play. It is a proschesch and dey must follow my pheelosophee.
This, but with Schweini for Carrick

If we are to win the league then we have to win this at home and draw away. I hope the players are really up for it and we see a good performance. Although a scrappy win with a goal coming from a martial cross onto rooneys arse would be no harm. This is the test if we win, we will be considered title contenders, Lets hope players are fired up.

I always have a bad feeling about games that follow a far flung midweek trip to Eastern Europe. Unfortunate timing for the derby, I'd definitely take a draw to be honest.

    Carrick Schneiderlin
    Mata Herrera Martial
    Rooney

    Sterling Bony De Bruyne
    Yaya Toure
    Fernandinho Fernando
    Sagna Mangala Kompany Zabaleta
    Hart

That's what I'm expecting, but I'd quite like to see Fellaini start over Carrick so we can play the same sort of style as last season. That'll probably be the Plan B though, with Schneiderlin and Mata/Martial replaced by Fellaini and Young (if fit).

No Silva, Aguero and Kolarov (possibly even Kompany not risked but I doubt that one) gives us a big chance to pull another one over them. Wouldn't be too displeased with a draw dependent on how the game actually goes, but I think they have bigger players missing than we do. The trip back from Russia may take its toll though!

Despite them being a complete squad they're leading by just 2 points in the table.

Long time since there was a draw in Manchester derby, so I am calling a scored draw...

With Aguero and Silva not playing, I think that we should be able to defeat them. On the other side, we'll be playing with 10 players the entire match, so that compensates a bit.

Hopefully LVG has learned the lessons from Arsenal match and isn't as naive defensively. Schneiderlin should start together with one of Carrick/Schweiny and Herrera.

Schneiderlin must start. We'll lose if he doesn't.

We can win this one. Look how we batteries e them last season. Yes, they have a different kind of threat this time round, especially with the two new lads, who have started well but so do we. Martial is going to cause them problems, he's caused problems against every team he's played so far.

A loss doesn't mean the end of the world. This isn't the Derby in April where we absolutely must win. Of course we all want the 3 points let's not go all fire and brimstone if we don't. And of we do win, let's do what normal people do, celebrate, be happy and make our City supporting friends lives unpleasant for a while. :keano:

no worries at all. We'll win this. Mata and Martial to the rescue. That being said, I wonder what we'd look like with Mata and Young on the flanks, Herrera behind Martial. We'd be a beast. Thanks Roon

Absolutely. He's the only midfielder we have that can defend deep with pace, he's essential in all big games, imho.
I agree, but he's not started our two biggest fixtures so far, against Liverpool and Arsenal, which is bizarre. I have a feeling LvG will go with Carrick and Schweinsteiger again.

I'm going for 3-2 win. Mangala and Otamendi are like drunk guys in a disco. All over the place.

    Same as last year.

Here's what I'd like to see, in my dreams:
    De Gea
    Darmian Smalling Blind Rooney*
    Bastian Schweinsteiger
    Herrera
    Mata Martial Memphis**
*I've put Rooney as our LB, because he will obviously play, so I want him in a position where he will do least damage. In attack, he will prevent us from scoring/attacking, so keep him at the opposite end of the pitch.
**I'd prefer A.Young, but as he is injured, Memphis will have to do.

IMO, this is our most attacking formation. And I like attacking football.

Isn't the same as last year. We lost at their place, but won at ours. This is at ours.
